"Political" Haircuts in America

My dad texted me tonight saying he was excited to go to the Father John Misty show soon. I bought him & myself tickets for his birthday. The weird thing is, he also sent a selfie (incredibly unlike my father) saying, and I quote, "I better wear a hippie t-shirt so I don't get mobbed for my cop/republican haircut. Talk about unintended consequences!" This caught me off guard, but my dad is a strange and humorous guy with nothing against cops or Republicans, I think he was simply stereotyping this particular concert-going crowd.

Example of Dad's haircut
His hair is cropped short, standard Dad stuff, but is this a thing? I am pretty isolated to the city life, which is pretty diverse, so I have no idea if people in the 'burbs are giving my dad shit for looking like a "Cop/Republican."

Which ties into something I've been thinking about a lot lately, regarding my haircut, the typical hipster short-sides-long-top cut. Has this hairstyle been taken over by the alt-right, and us hipsters have to just move on? Is this hairstyle no longer acceptable?

Example of my haircut

I'm probably reading into this too much, but I don't want anyone to judge us for our haircuts and it's a touchy political climate out there so I want to distance myself as much as possible from the president.
I want your opinions on haircuts. Do you think the high & tight, or any hair cut has been taken over by the alt-right, or are there any other haircuts linked with political movements?

I just lmao, lmao. I'm not changing my hair cuz some nazi fucker thinks they can own a haircut.

High and tight haircuts, like really high and tigh haircuts, are pretty popular in the gay community where I live, so I don't see the alt-right associating themselves with it too much.

Lol your dad's haircut is like the most generic inoffensive possible one

I think he wishes he was edgier than he really is

Yeah, pop culture reclaimed them and isn't going to give them back without a fight.

The only grooming style that has been ruined is the hitler stache

I have a similar one to the op, and i probably won't change it till I go bald

I'll say it's no longer acceptable mostly because it looks fucking terrible on 95% of the dudes who wear it that way.

They were trying to grab your prize. They work for the mercenary. The masked man.
It's time for us in the alt-left to reclaim the bowlcut!

It's fucking hair, cut it however you want. Unless you're buzzing a swastika into the side if your head, the average person won't think you're a neo-Nazi because you have a haircut that's hugely popular with young men right now.

Yeah, GAF calls it the "fuckboi" haircut, but GAF has a spotty history with fashion advice outside the dedicated fashion OTs :p

Not dropping the undercut but I'm also not from the US. If anyone can suggest a better way to make my thick hair not look dumb and unmanageable when medium/long length I'd like to hear it.

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.

This essentially.

I'm not white, so I can get whatever haircut I want and not be immediately accused of being a Nazi / sympathizer. :)

I love undercuts.

Probably best to avoid an extreme undercut nowadays, or a Hitler mustache at any time post-1930's (if you time-travel to a prior year, no worries). However, I'd argue you might be able to pull off the extreme undercut if the rest of your "look" is not that of a Nazi/Trump supporter. For example, a lot of hipster-looking service industry guys rock that hairstyle where I live, but absolutely nobody would assume they are white supremacists.

Otherwise, everything else seems to be completely on the table in the U.S.

I do what I want.

Usually very similar to the "Nazi" (under)cut. Everything is political now a days, like hell am I allowing my hair to be.

Shaving your head used to be a skinhead (neo-nazi) thing, but we took it back.
In hindsight it's inevitable when so many men who are balding really ARE going to look better shaving it all off than vainly trying to keep it on.

It's definitely why I won't get that short sides/long top cut again though, I had that done without even knowing he was going for it and given Richard Spencer and his fascists weren't THAT well known just a few years back it was fine, but now that they've exploded into the scene...no.

You shouldn't change your hairstyle just because you're worried someone will associate you with certain groups. It's just hair.

I just grow my hair out and let it do whatever so I don't look like I contribute to any political group. I do get the occasional look and scold from older Americans that I need to cut my hair and not be a hippie, but I attribute that to them living back in the 60's and the thought that the decent American was in a suit and clean shaven.

Just avoid the Hitler Youth.
Not for political reasons, it just makes your face look like a thumb.
a teenager in our circle called that haircut a "fuckboy" haircut.

Apparently they are deeply unpopular. Like nerds, but with objective reasons why they are hated.

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?

Hell no! This is like the only haircut that looks good on me since I can't just have greasy long skibum hair anymore.

Does he watch the news much

Its hair. Do whatever you want with it whenever you want and who really gives a damn if someone else doesn't like it. As long as you feel it.

The only truly one I think is likely DOA at the very least for another couple decades is the Hitler Stache

Ugh... Fuck those assholes for taking the undercut. It's like one of the only hairstyles that actually agree with the shape of my head. But because I have blond hair and blue eyes, I'd look like an actual Nazi.

I'm keeping the haircut nazis can eat shit but this haircut makes me look amazing.
