1) From the things they did show, people ARE impressed. But we got lots of "I'll believe it when I play it." and "I don't think the multiplayer is coming out."
2) And Microsoft has Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5 and Forza 6 that year. Microsoft clearly has the big guns that year. It just seems to me as if Microsoft just can't win.
When Microsoft has strong exclusive year, people think multiplayer is the one they care.
When Microsoft offers backward compatibility, people don't want to play old games.
When Microsoft makes a stronger machine from first party and third party games, people think only exclusives matter.
When Microsoft delays a game for polishing it, people think Microsoft betraying people's expectations.
Besides backward compatibility, all the other situations happen to Sony, too. And we get vastly different outcome. It's like some of the people here will never buy a Xbox no matter what and still make it a habit to rain on Microsoft, party or not.
Just look at the first page of the thread:
Rumor: Horizon: Zero Dawn delayed to early 2017 and you'll get what I mean. And this is just one example.
