Crackdown 3 delayed to Spring 2018

Dreams and Days Gone have never been dated. What the hell are you doing?
B) Dreams and Days Gone were never given release windows much less specified dates

Dreams was supposed to have a beta in 2016, and it got pushed back. Still no beta 8-9 months later. Given that it was unveiled in 2013, and had a teaser in 2014, is it that unreasonable to consider it delayed?

I don't think Phantom Dust had a date or release window, but don't object to considering it delayed.

Good. Game looked like hot trash from this year's showing.
But my god, this must be the worst year for Xbox in a decade.

Still have PUBG the biggest console exclusive releasing this fall. Not to mention ori, forza and cuphead. Great lineup regardless of crackdown 3.

I give it around 0.5% chance that PUBG is releasing on consoles this year. There's been zero evidence that the game is anywhere near ready, especially when they have to squeeze this game on the original Xbox One. Expect 2018.

I'll be super shocked if Ori releases this year. No release date (or year) has been announced as far as I can see.

Sea of Thieves is scheduled for this year though right?

Nope. 2018.

I knew this was coming... sheesh man...

Looking the way it did, it was probably DOA in nov, and the fact that they STILL haven't shown any MP action was hurting my confidence. I'm guessing we won't see the game in any capacity until 2018, now.

At least we still have Forza this year, I guess...

Dreams was unveiled in 2015. And yes, it is unreasonable. If a delay hasn't been announced, you don't just make one up.

Sea of Thieves got pushed to 2018. I doubt Ori drops this year. They just announced hiring the AM2R dude for level design recently.

Not really, as I think the point of the list was games given a release date/window and then having to be delayed.

But I will give you Phantom Dust, I don't think that was given a proper release window.

Game was never seen as a saviour of the XboxX, all of the showings so far have been very rough and met with criticism, CD has never been a system seller franchise, delays usually are absolutely necessary specially because it confirms the unfinished state the game was in, and yet people treat it like it's the end of the XbX, as if the system depended precisely on this one game.

Forza is much more of a system seller than this, as it's the potentially best versions of Fifa, Madden, COD, SWBF, AC and whatever comes out on September onwards.

I honestly dont see how a delay of a mediocre game translates to iminent doom. Of course there are bigger problems at MS Studios right now, but the XboxX itself has never depended on Crackdown, quite the contrary... It seems to me people still want it despite of the rough looking CD3, if only for the best versions of multiplatform games (potentially).

Oh damn, and I didn't realize State of Decay was 2018 as well.

Yeah... not a great 2017 lineup. Cuphead should be swish though!

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
So Forza 7 is going to be the only first party dedicated Xbox one x game then?

MS gonna shoot themselves in the foot big time when trying to sell a 4K machine with one game.

In this thread, "No fair. You are using facts to make me look bad. Please go back to using unsubstantiated opinions so I can make up stuff unchallenged."

I mean it's the same thing in any discussion about exclusives or the value proposition of a single machine on its own, especially this generation:

"Yeah but there's loads of multiplats anyway"
"I never liked exclusives anyway"

These are just non-sequiturs to a discussion about exclusives, and if these were actually true, why did you buy an Xbox One when PS4 ran multiplats better? Perhaps your friends or yourself were just that heavily invested in the Xbox ecosystem, but even if you are that has nothing to do with the Xbox One value as a single console.

I don't know what point you are trying to make. I satirically point out that people are complaining about actual facts being brought into this discussion, and part of your reply is to paraphrase two non-factual opinions. Then you rail against that strawman as non-sequiturs.

Perhaps my attempt at satire was too subtle, so let me explicitly state my point. A comment was made questioning why delayed Sony games are declared a good thing while delayed Microsoft games have an outcry like this thread. The very well fact'd reply to that comment showed that delayed Sony games end up being very well received, while delayed Microsoft games are poorly received or canceled.

That quite explicitly shows why delayed Microsoft and Sony games are treated differently. Delays in Sony games indicate that the game is being held up for more polish. Delays in Microsoft games indicate games in deeply troubled development. The comment made this point with facts, not opinions, and is the type of comment that we need more of not less. Here it is for reference.

When Sony delays a game, most people: "GOOD."
When Microsoft delays a game, we have this thread.

Well since March 2015..

Delayed PS4 games:

Bloodborne - 92
Uncharted 4 - 93
The Last Guardian - 82
Horizon Zero Dawn - 89
Persona 5 - 93

Delayed XB1 games:

Quantum Break - 77
ReCore - 63
Fable Legends - canceled
Scalebound - canceled
Crackdown - ?
Sea of Thieves - ?

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Should have done this from the start. Would have been swamped in November.

It does beg the question of whether SoT is now being pushed back.

Furthermore, what is the point of this Sony Too argument to begin with?

That they don't delay games? Of course they do.

That no one calls them out or gets upset? Where were you when "Soony" and "DelayStation" memes were happening?

It's also worth noting that Sony doesn't really need a big line up right now. They're doing great.
XBOX is launching this year without a great line up

The promised 2016 beta shows no signs of arriving within this calendar year. Whether or not an official release date or release "window" was promised, I think it's clear that Media Molecule is behind schedule. The last original game they released was Tearaway in 2013.

Every publisher and platform holder delay games that's not the problem here. Neither whether those games turned up to be good or bad. The problem here is the dearth of MS exclusives this year. Delaying one marquee game in an already weak line up is a problem. Specially when the game was scheduled to come along a console MS was banking on. XboX is a marginal upgrade like the PS4Pro but MS need it to be much more successful than Sony needed the pro. Hence they announced it a year and half earlier and to a much higher fanfare and couple of E3s unlike the pro low key press conference.

Ever since it's showing at E3 many here clamored for it to be delayed....now they delay it and it seems the sky is falling and I can't believe they delayed it! Jumping that fence has to get tiring...

looks like they took a page from Sony, release your games during slow months, let 3rd party carry you over winter months. Not a fan, but seemed to work for Sony. 2018 is now stacked for them, 2017 will be best played 3rd parties on XBX.

Do they even have one game?
Forza 7 comes out October 3rd and Xbox One X comes November 7th, I honestly think Forza 7 will be kind of old news by the time Xbox One X is out, a month is a long time in this industry. I don't think they have any timed third party exclusives either. People said that the PS4 Pro launch was badly planned but this is even worse imo. Sales will be horrific unless they can somehow market how awesome the patched games are instead to almost act like launch games.

Crackdown 3 has looked like shit the last few times it's been shown, so hopefully this delay will work out fine for it.

They did it without the first part.

Prove those are same people. In fact if you read this thread you will find that many people are glad it is delayed because that means it gets more time for polish.

Microsoft has major first party game title issues anymore.

Like, they can't deliver diverse AAA titles on time, nor the quality people want & expect.

Hopefully this delay works for the best though, as the game looked like shit at e3.

It's not as if the PS4 Pro launched alongside several huge exclusive titles.

I don't agree with this at all, if anything the E3 showing gave me a lot of confidence that Sumo Digital know exactly what they are doing when it comes to the single player. Looks like the Crackdown I know and love.

Now the multiplayer on the otherhand........who knows.

Seriously, what is Microsoft's pitch to a gamer as to why you should buy an Xbox? I genuinely can't think of what I would even leverage if I were a marketing person with the job of telling people why they need to own an Xbox. Seems like they aren't even trying anymore.

This "But what about Sony" argument is extremely misplaced. The PS4 has 184 retail exclusives while the XB1 only has 31. The main reason why Sony delays aren't as significant is because Sony doesn't need any specific one as much as Microsoft. Period. End of story.

Speaking of Sumo Digital, this is the only series I can think of whose first, second and third games were made by different studios. Maybe there are others but I can't think of any.

I'd like someone to ask Phil Spencer that question.

Yep, single player footage looked average at best.

Well since March 2015..

Sea of Thieves - ?

It's OK, Sea of Thieves will have a metacritic average of 300% to even everything out.

So what launch title do they have to show off the Xbox One X? That one platformer with the squirrel? Of course the argument can be also be leveled at Sony for the PS4Pro but I think it's a much worse situation for Microsoft. They spent a good portion of their conference hyping up their new "Most Powerful Console" and now we have it coming with no killer app.

I personally don't see it doing very well as it is now though.

As for Crackdown 3... wow. What a mess.

you can't just guess when they intended to release the game originally, though

If a developer wanted to have a beta in late 2016, I think it's probably fair to assume that the intention was a 2017 release date. Especially when you consider that most console betas are just glorified demos for a game that ships within a few months.

Yes, the beta was delayed but that's not the game itself.

Mm are working on an incredibly ambitious game and they're a small studio, so it's no surprise it's taking a while. But whether they're behind schedule or not is irrelevant, Dreams hasn't been delayed.

Why you're continuing to dig a hole with this Sony Too bullshit, I have no idea.
