In theory (in Sony's mind) game sharing already exists at least within a family as they probably figure a family has 1 PS4 in the house.

So as long as it's set to Primary everything is already shared on that PS4 with all it's users.

So it's not something you'll get resolved in a FW update.

there's a workaround. For example, they implemented FB integration which allows to use FB username instead and, more important, they store that FB username on their side. So that means – they can provide a solution if they want ;)

I think the main reason why it's not implemented yet – because different teams. PSN folks in US, PS4 firmware team – Japan based. So maybe there's a communication problem :)

^ It was. But now, not sure about this. As I know, they formed a completely new dev team in 2012 and redesigned PSN infrastructure completely in 2013, before PS4 launch.

On my PS4 Pro, home screen scrolling has been improved dramatically. I have 60 games on my home screen and five folders, plus Library, TV & Video, What's New and PlayStation Store. After an initial scroll to the end to get to library, scrolling back and forth is far more responsive and icons for apps and folders stay loaded in memory for much longer. Only once I get to the last 5 apps or so do they go back to the "unloaded" placeholder icon for a second, maybe less. But hitching is completely gone during scrolling.

Yes I had the same thing, also network issues along with slow Internet speed (like in kbps) despite the test showing I have over 160mb speed
I've uninstalled it.

Y'all can be grumpy all you want but I'm pretty happy that this is the first firmware beta I actually got in. Hopefully now I'm more likely to get into them in the future.

Personally, off the top of my head:

- PSN name change (yes, this would come with a firmware update for logical reasons)
- PS1 BC support
- Ability to specify amount of items shown in main bar
- Ability to sort items in main bar
- Ability to pin items to specific places in the main bar
- Default main bar icons in a color other than blue
- Clean-up & layout customization of the currently-embarrassing TV & Video
- Revert Notification to previous UI that was far more usable
- Ability to sort games in Trophy list by name
- Ability to sort games in Trophy list by overall completion
- Ability to sort Trophies alphabetically
- Ability to filter What's New results to look for specific content (trophies achieved, uploaded screenshots/video, etc.)
- Category under Library for PS+ free games
- Better handling of downloading content when hard drive is mostly full
- Far better options for who can send you messages (including blocking people you aren't friends with from adding you to a group chat without permission)
- Add icons to Storage > Applications list for better clarity (should look like Saved Data list)
- Ability to sort Saved Data list

Weird, trying to install this on my PS4 Pro and after the download when "please wait" and the PS symbols appear I'm having hard locks of my console. Will try for a third time, but that's annoying.

Those are some weird requests, personally I would like Trophy sorting and ability to hide demos/betas from library.

The small quick menu changes and speedier interface are the only real draws for me here. It's nice, but it's small, and a lot of it feels like corrections rather than additions.

I just do not get how Sony still doesn't have the ability to change your names. They just seem so bad when it comes with online security etc. They could make a killing charging for it to. Makes no sense.

-I'd love to be able to delete game data for a game, but still keep the icon. That way I can keep a list of all games I have access to, but don't need to store a terabyte.

Wanting to be able to download a 3GB game when I've still got 50GB of space left on my drive is a weird request?

As far as the PS+ stuff, those aren't owned games. Plus, after 3 years of getting free PS4 games through my subscription, like hell I remember everything I've gotten through the service. A separate category would both let me browse that stuff, and be clear on what games it's telling me that I own but I actually don't.

My email seems to have a lot of trouble receiving stuff from PlayStation, I never got the Horizon platinum email, I’ve stopped getting the “what’s new in ps store” emails, despite being opted in to marketing emails. All I get is my receipts from purchases and emails about stuff in the PS Gear store, so I’m starting to wonder if I’m also missing out on beta emails now too.

While there’s nothing groundbreaking for the core gamer set, this looks like a reasonable set of improvements across the board. I wouldn’t be shocked if there were some features that aren’t being promoted here in order to choose competitive timing more carefully, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with focusing on broadening the appeal of the console, either. Great family management seems like a much more impactful investment heading into the holiday season than forcing downsampling for the handful of games that don’t support it with PS4 Pro and a 1080p display.

Decent improvements, but what I want, the only thing I want, is super sampling for Pro users. I hope they are listening and planning.

I'm not sure if this is related, but right after updating to the 5.00 beta, all of my PS2 classics, Dark Cloud 2 and the GTA trilogy, all had small updates waiting to download and install.

Can anyone else confirm their version numbers?

I had the same issue on my Pro. It got stuck on ‘Please Wait’ screen after downloading the update, but rebuilding the database sorted it for the next attempt.
