Seeing people being brainwashed by media channels that push their own propaganda, instead of spending few minutes of their day to research accurate sources.

I asked jim Carrey for an autograph once because his daughter went to the same school..

Ace ventura/firemarshal bill yelled at me and told me no.

Fuck Jim Carrey.

Going to have to go with 9/11.

I think that beats everyone else.

Just today I was thinking that there are now 16 year olds who weren't alive when it happened. The world changed so much that day but to them it's always been like that.

Met Jim Carey at a gas station and asked him for a selfie. He told me in no uncertain terms that using a cellphone in a gas station was dangerous and to fuck off. I liked his on screen persona until then, and now realise he is just an asshole. When I went in to pay he had complained about me to the staff but she was cool about it and said that he always makes that complaint.

colonization and capitalism looking like they really might kill the planet

Pretty much 70% of what I think about is connected to that somehow.

Probably the night a small-time hitman was sent to kill my dad because he borrowed money from the wrong people. He didn't succeed, but it was still fucking crazy.

Trump and 9/11 are obviously huge, but as a Canadian I don't think they affected me in the same way. I was still wrecked emotionally in both cases.

Now one of the craziest things ever is that two different GAfers have stories about Jim Carrey.

Also I just googled him to see what he is up to apparently he is a good painter.

It'd be really crazy if every 4th or 5th post was another personal encounter with an impolite Jim Carrey.

I dont got one to add, but that sure would be something.

this thread is so tame. I ended up doing coke with a guy who threatened to kill and rape me in a bar two months prior and kissed him

At age 17 my grandmother told me I was given 27 hours to live when I was 7. Blew my mind, I remember the weeks in the hospital, and learning to walk again, but I didn't know I was expected to die. I had fun, they had a room full of nintendo games, and I was out of school.

Personally.. probably either being robbed at gunpoint, nearly beaten to death (separate incident) or maybe that one crazy mushroom trip I had.

Outside of that, definitely 9/11.

I mean sure 9/11 and Trump are choices. On a more personal level though? I don't know, probably racing a 99 Camaro at over 120 mph through traffic on the freeway in downtown Boise, in the middle of the day. Weaving in and out of cars that were going less than half my speed, and cutting into a gap right in front of a tow truck with maybe a foot or two of clearance if that. I was what, 19 at the time? Was dumb stupid reckless, but certainly crazy.

It wasn't even my car, it was a dealership car that we were taking to some shop to get some work done on its exhaust, which was loud as fuck. Woulda got fired faster than I had been racing that Camaro had they found out what I was doing. Would never do something that stupid again(have driven that fast since but on deserted roads and not busy freeways in the middle of town), but at least I can say I did do it.

I still remember the car I was driving, the stretch of interstate I was on, the radio show I was listening to (remember those?). No work got done. We sat around the office watching the news. Everyone left early. It was crazy.

I met norm McDonald and he told me a personal story about how he burned down a house falling asleep with a cigarette in his mouth and told me not to tell anyone, but if I did tell anyone that's ok because "fuck it I'm old I don't care"

For a personal thing, one time I went to Mexico to buy some coke. I went to like a window and gave them money, and they gave me coke. There were guys with AKs there. Then I had to bring it back. They let me go no problem at all. Still an insane thing to risk. Probably the dumbest thing I have ever done.

Well if you're looking for personal experiences, I was once chased by a deranged man with a knife, barely escaping into a door on campus that I locked behind me (IT, we had keys to everything for some reason - they were different times). I was with a group of people who were shot at from a distance, could hear the bullets whistle by and strike things near me.

You win so far...is there more to this story? Why did he threaten to rape/kill you? I'm confused on the sequence of events...you kissed him/did coke with him after he threatened you? I would not do the coke with someone who threatened my life.

Had a coke habit when I was younger. Snorted too much one night + xanax and alcohol (dumb) before I went home and had one of those "walk away from the light" surreal dreams where I was probably on the verge of OD'ing had I not fought the dream off.

Threatened to kill and rape me in a bar in March. Maybe the most terrifying ten minutes of my life. Bouncers kicked him out. Two months later I run into him in another bar. That's when we stayed out till 6AM doing coke in a stranger's house. On the drive back home it all hit me again due to personal details and pictures he shared and I remembered who he was.

When I was a baby, 1 or 2ish, an aunt of mine aunt suffered with delusions that she had been possessed by the devil. Being from a conservative, Christian, latino family, of course the obvious assumption was that she was actually possessed by something. Even had an exorcism at my grandma's house where we lived at the time. Professionals with actual credentials got involved when she started saying that the devil to her to kill the baby, me.

That's the craziest thing that's happened in my life. But as far as personal that I remember, probably seeing a dude probably die, or UFOs.
I was a minor deity in a cult when I was a kid.
Can you please share that story? If you want to, of course.

So what you're telling us is that you had no regard for your own life or those of other people. Nice.

Jim Carey taking an unexpected beating in this thread.

Damn. Hope you're safe. Don't do coke.

Gaining 80 pounds and losing 80 pounds.

For four years I never thought I would touch a woman again. And now, 80 pounds lighter I still feel the same.

jk.

Probably the time I saw a bright-light in the sky in college, & kept chasing it. I swear it was like I had a mini alien-encounter or something.

Also cracking my head against some rocks as a child, though I see it as being a lot less crazy, & more like unfortunate.

I died. Twice.

First time I was biking nearby a crowded main road and fell exactly in the middle of the lane after bumping on an unseen concrete piece.

Second time I was at a crossroad and a car coming from my left crossed with the red light at insane speed right where I was passing

Can't tell you how I'm still here telling the story

Dad passing away when I was a little kid. Just a completely overwhelming surreal feeling before the sadness comes in. You think this person is gonna be with you for the rest of your life or at least till you're older and then bam, you're never gonna see them again. You literally just comprehend it.

Maybe it's not crazy on the grand scheme of things like 9/11 or a Trump presidency. But it felt completely insane at the time.

Sorry to hear that. Can't even imagine as my parents are both alive

Thanks. I think it always feels kinda crazy whenever someone in you life passes away. The closer you are to them, the harder it is to comprehend this new reality where they simply don't exist anymore. It really is just a surreal feeling.

Another personal thing. I totaled my car while driving drunk and high. Didn't hit anyone, thank the flying spaghetti monster. Also thankfully I was wearing my seatbelt. Might be dead if I didn't, but only got bruises from it and the airbag.

And yes, I know this was a very dumb thing to do. I paid the price with a DUI conviction. That was over ten years ago though. The cops actually treated me very well (I'm half black BTW). Didn't even make me go to jail that night.

Personal thing:

I once clawed by ears bloody trying to get the demon voices out of my head mere hours after singing operatic duets with my quasi-self in a mirror and chasing a Daft Punk marching band around my neighborhood.

Not joking. That was the literal "craziest" thing I have been through.

My dad tried to kill me in a schizophrenic fit because he thought I was a demon.

Religion + Alcohol + Schizophrenia don't mix, y'all.
