Can you refill the SRV ammo when you're planetside without synthisis?

I don't want to have to fly back to a station but I feel like even if I'm getting back into the mothership it is not actually refilling it.

Chalk up another victory for the Fuel Rats. What an incredible service those folks have going on!

I was in a brand new Vulture last night, got ahead of myself when going module shopping, and ended up stranded. I made my request and immediately got a response. My saviour arrived and I was on my way again in under 10 minutes.

It would have been quicker if I hadn't been so clumsy with IRC on the phone browser (I'd lose connection when the phone locked after putting it down), but they were patient and professional nonetheless.

Just an absolutely stellar performance all round. Thought I'd be waiting much longer for a rescue on PS4, but no. I recommend running out of fuel at least once for the experience alone!

I know of them but how does it work exactly?

They have a website with a built-in IRC, where you throw the "Rat Signal". They'll collect your information and send someone to your location in-game.

You wing up with them so they can find you, power down everything except life support (for their own safety, they've been ganked before). They drop in and send some fuel limpets your way until you have enough to get to the nearest star (if you have a fuel scoop) or the nearest station (if you don't).

I wish there was a way to transfer money in-game. I'd have happily dumped a few million credits into their account, they saved me a hell of a lot more than that. Only had to use them once (my own stupidity), they're definitely the real deal.

What Jedi2016 said.

If you need fuel, you press the red button on this page.

You then specify your Commander name (in-game ID), current system, platform, and whether or not you're currently on life support. These details then get broadcast automatically in their IRC channel, and dispatch will assign a Rat to you.

On PS4, your assigned Rat will send a friend request so you can wing up with them. (You can activate a wing beacon from the Functions tab in the right-hand panel.)

I saw a bunch of abbreviations and quick messages going back and forth in the chat as they prepared, and literally a minute after I accepted the friend request I heard the "pop" of someone dropping into my instance. He hailed me on voice comms, but I didn't have my mic at the time and had to resort to clumsily using IRC on my phone.

My guy was super friendly over the comms, and provided more than enough fuel for me to make the rest of my journey. I couldn't help staring in awe as he wished me well and sped away. Messaged him later from my friends list to thank him personally.

Absolutely. I only learned it was a free service after the fact. When I asked about payment someone joked about providing a real life bank account to transfer funds to, but then got swiftly reprimanded in the chat, as apparently someone committed fraud along those lines in the past! They clearly take it very seriously and are extremely committed.

I'm a little bit smitten to be honest. I may consider joining their ranks once I have a nice big multi-task ship.

I really want to get a all multi-cannon build working on my Corvette though. All overcharged with most being incendiary and 1 corrosive? I feel like there's too much jitter in anything I try unless it's decked out grade 5. Whether it be pulse or multis.

We wanted to give you a quick heads up on some in-game changes to Holo-Me customisation that will be visible when the beta goes live and help make sure there isn't any confusion when you see it.

The first change to note is that there is now a slot for eyewear! You'll be pleased know that you'll be getting a fresh pair of glasses via the Frontier Store for free once 2.4 launches fully after the beta!

Coming in 2.4 there will be other sets of glasses in a wide range of styles that will be available exclusively via participating in community giveaways, competitions, events and streams.

You'll also notice there are spaces for the ability to swap out the tops, sleeves and legwear of your avatar outfits. In 2.4 there will be the option to purchase a wider range of new suits from the Frontier Store. In this new range of suits, you'll be able to switch between each part of the outfit, based on the full suits that you own.

In 2.4 we've also included an update to the in-game livery store, where you'll be able to preview in-game items before purchasing them!

Also - beta change log is on the way... just waiting on a couple of tweaks.

Thanks,

Ed

Edit: Closed beta is now available to download. Patch notes still pending.

Patch Notes said:
Hey everyone,

Those who are eligible to download the 2.4 beta will be able to do so now.

If you have access to the closed beta (those who have previously purchased beta or had access to previous closed betas) you should see it available for download in the Elite Dangerous launcher.

Remember - this beta will work slightly differently to previous betas, as outlined here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...ta-Information

Claiming your free community decal - accept and take part in the Community Goal on the beta servers to be eligible for the free decal! It's that simple.

The beta forum segments will be opened for feedback as usual, and the designers will be asking for specific types of feedback too. Look out for their posts in the forums.

Thanks!

Just synthesized some limpets. Feels good, man. 10 iron and 10 tin for 4. Kinda steep.

ac0bad5846.jpg

Feel like I'm hearing radio chatter I never have before. Kinda static-y in station of random flights communicating.

20kLY plot distance, took 6-8 seconds.

Last scoopable star indicator

Ship we've been seeing is a Thargoid

So, the best aspect of the 2.4 update for me will most definitely be the galaxy map route plotter improvements. Sure it's just a QoL change, but that's a whole lot of upgrading for the route plotter! The rest of it really seems like low hanging fruit and won't impact the game at all for me. The secret upcoming Thargoid will mostly be combat content, so I doubt I'll ever even see much of it except for youtube videos.

Ah well, at least I'm that much closer to 3.0 and those potential core improvements now. One step closer to some possible exploration mechanics development, someday....

Repair limpets will be interesting. Great to see heat sinks and chaff will be able to be synthesized. Also, finally on the legal salvage. It never made sense before.

I'm a little worried able the Ship Rebuy Bounty stuff. The bounty system is already frustrating as hell, getting rid of wanted status, and it sounds like it could be made worse.

• Ship kills, and actions to complete planetary hack and disable missions will now only contribute to a single mission, this will be the earliest mission accepted

There goes Quince, and stacking missions for Conflict Zones. Ah, well.

Quince I can understand but combat missions stacking will kill a lot of the money involved. Still had to work to get the kills. Hopefully they boost combat bonds and increase single mission payouts to correspond.

I've just spent billion credits to outfit my newly purchased Cutter. I want to buy second Cutter for trading and desperately need money. I think, I'm going to spend all the time before 2.4 in Quince doing planetary scan missions.

Also, heat sink ammo synthesis is very nice for exploration, I can remove one heat sink launcher from my Asp to save more weight.

Honestly, the whole map route plotter QOL update is the best part of the second season for me (besides planetary landings). Which is kind of sad TBH.

They managed to fuck up Heat Sink synthesizing (not surprising) but having even the basic one use manufactured components.

Good luck finding those when your 15,000 LY away from civilization.

NOOOOOO SHIELD CELL BANK CHUGGING IS GOING TO BE BACK IN FULL FORCE
Things were just getting fun with the bi-weave meta. :(
The ehp on shields is already ridiculous and now they wanna make it easier to spam SCBs? Guhhhhhhhhh
You're gonna need like 3 fucking cascade rails guns to kill anyone in a big ship.

I think it depends if you can make heat sinks in combat. If you can, it might be a new meme.

Edit: Type-10 Defender coming. FD confirms it's not the Panther Clipper.

Is it me or is the Docking Computer just incompetent when used on the Anaconda?

It looks really nice on the SRV. Nicer than most of the ships honestly. Their shader or material isn't great for chrome or gold. Or it's a problem with the renderer.

I feel like it would suit Imperial ships better. I'm seriously tempted to pick up the skins for the Courier and Cutter, despite only being a Serf so far.

Sometimes they don't have door and actually just a pad on the surface, you have to fly around until you see the pulsing glowing square.

I wish they would improve on that

The targeting holo for the space station shows arrows pointing towards where the slot is.

And the navigation targeting dot points towards where your landing pad is.

They really need to shorten their rollout time for this beta. It's very stable at the moment. Not a whole lot to actually test extensively outside of chained missions and synthesis impact on PvP.

Oh my god I'm gonna rant a bit but I'm gonna spoiler it so I don't spoil the new kid's fun since this rant only really pertains to people who have played for more than 350 hours.

Every time I come back to this game I am reminded instantly why I can only play for a few weeks before quitting for another break. After engineering my ship to grade 4s in most slots I basically just gave up after doing G4 DD on my FdL because I realized "holy shit I can't get anything done in this game that doesn't take the whole fucking day". After the fucking awful material's grind to get what I want so I can at least be functional in pvp which is the only part of the game i actually enjoy because it's the only part of the game that has ANY LEVEL OF DEPTH TO IT I then have to pray for good rolls or i've wasted my materials and therefore hours of farming. But no I can't pray yet my friends! First I have to get in the ship I want to engineer and fly it to the engineer which could take an hour on its own because my FdL only has an 18 ly jump range (modded) and the tank can only do 2 jumps before i have to sit and scoop. I could get in my long distance hauler and make the trip in 5 minutes and then ship over my FdL but that costs a couple million credits and takes longer to arrive than flying it myself. The game won't just let me play it I have to always be doing some bullshit activity to play it.

It's so utterly infuriating when I decide i want to try out a new load out but then realize I don't have the materials to engineer them, or if I do I don't get the experimentals I want and then I have to grind reputation, it's a never ending cycle where I can't actually participate in the activity I want to participate in at the level I want to participate without going through what feels like endless rubbish.

AND THEN THERE IS POWER PLAY. Power play isn't even a grind it's just a waiting game. The dumbest part about power play is that it rewarded me more when i took a break from the game than when i was actually playing it i said to myself "i want pack hounds" so i signed up for that faction then i didn't play for 2 months, came back and because I started playing on a Tuesday I was able to grind the merits within 5ish hours and by thursday I had my pack hounds. That's quite frankly idiotic, that I got my rewards sooner for not playing the game than I would have for playing the game.

The reason this makes me so mad is because I genuinely love this game, I love it so much but looking at what the game wants me to do to get where I want some times makes me want to just never come back. It's aggravating that I paid for horizons just for engineers but they're not even fun they're just monstrous busy work.

Okay now that that's out of my system, this community goal for delivering cargo has been hilarious. I've been flying around the systems near by and interdicting people and telling them to drop a couple tons or I blast them out of the sky. I've never actually played a proper pirate but this is quite fun and i've already ended up delivering enough to get me into the 75% contribution mark lol.

If you target the orbital stations there'll be arrows on the target hologram showing you which way the slot is. Took me a minute to figure that out.

I just had an odd feeling. I was absent-mindedly doing a quick side mission alongside a cargo route when I received an illicit cargo warning and with a flash of annoyance I checked my inventory to see what it was. There I saw tonnes of Liquor, Imperial Slaves, Kamitra Cigars, and Personal Weapons. Oh. Um, huh. Am I the bad guy? It was a strange moment of self-reflection.

Anyway, then I engaged silent running and boosted into the Station.

I've been playing for years and never noticed that!
I use the "right hand rule". Make a fist with your fingers curled in the direction of rotation. The docking port is where your thumb is.

Just did my first has rez in my Anaconda. Had to abort first attempt because I left some metaalloys in my hold from the last CG. Never been chased by so many pirates before!

2nd attempt, I fingers a corvette and wing up. I think we're both G5 engineered. I've never seen pirates die so quickly. We even jumped in fighters for a bit of dogfighting fun, especially when fighting annoying small ships. 4.7 million bounties in less than an hour, not bad! Pity only 1.7m counted towards the CG.
