Street Fighter V |OTVIIII| New Generation - Fighting Game Is Something So Great

I saw this fan-made quiz made to help GG beginners from other games find characters that might mesh with them and thought it would be the sicked shit if somebody made one for SFV. I'd probably do it myself if I knew how it was coded.
I got May. I'm not playing May. May is probably the last character i'd play. The only reason I didn't put her up as my least favorite character is because bedman exists.

Kinda neat though, the questions have a good amount of multiple answers and it seems well put together. Its not as simple as like "DO YOU LIKE RUSHDOWN- YES OR NO" they start getting into pretty specific scenarios.

I took the quiz and I got a tie for May & Kum Haehyum, with a close second of Raven. I haven't played GG since the PS2 days in college, so I had to Google to figure out May is boat anchor-girl. Funny enough, I never actually tried her out before, I always stuck with Sol-Badguy.

Hopefully they give her the tracksuit jacket but keep the skirt. As much as I'd love to see Sakura evolve as a character, I just can't see her without a miniskirt. Having a default without a miniskirt would be like giving Chun or Cammy loose-fitting pants; it just doesn't work and defeats part of what makes them iconic.

Sakura shows up in Karin's character story. She's wearing her classic outfit...

That could be her story outfit. There's also clearly a passage of time between the different stories (some are way in the past, some are before the general story, some are during, some are after, etc). Who's to say Sakura's won't take place a good bit of time after Karin's?

Kinda and pretty much.

I think we're getting another WW in this season. Only Blanka and Honda are left, right?

After Sagat, Blanka and Honda are only two left, along with T.Hawk, Deejay and Fei Long which came from Super Street Fighter II.

I can't even emphasize enough that they really need to focus on bringing more characters into Street Fighter to rep more countries that lack reps since I really love the concept about World Warriors.

It's really one of the best things about Street Fighter. It's such a simple concept, but it brought a cartoony game about throwing fireballs at jungle monsters down to Earth because it was so cosmopolitan. The World Warrior theme is even more relevant now that we have hundreds of people who are known for flying all over the world to compete in Street Fighter tournaments.

Which is why I'm always going on about the lore of Street Fighter being toned down and less like GI Joe or The Avengers. Street Fighter II's story just seemed like Enter the Dragon when it came out. People from all over the world invited to fight in a tournament held by some crime lord...for reasons. It should have never gotten more complicated than that.

Don't forget Turkey and Canada. And Elena is from Kenya, not Africa City.

If Ibuki is a guide, Sakura's SFV main costume will be one of the alt costumes from SFIV, like her karate or gym outfit.

The gym one is easily her most popular costume outside of the schoolgirl one, so if they do change it (which is like 50-50 rn), it'll be that one.

Edit: I mean the gym tracksuit one, not the tee and bloomers.

I'm imagining something like that but with her trademark schoolgirl skirt would be her SFV outfit.

Do you guys think Sakura is going to have a new costume when she's added in? I kinda hope they ditch the school outfit.

I'd like to see her with a leather jacket and jeans. Like a bad girl look.

I'd like her fireball to go full screen as well, as if she has grown up and become more powerful.

I want more Canadians (can never have enough tbh), as well as a Filipina rep (so my gf has an easy cosplay :p) and at least one Irish character (especially if they can make them non-stereotypical).

Exactly but I'm okay with some side stories out there tho.

Well, is Ed an psycho clone experiment so I'm not sure if he should counted as an American? Also Oro got retired and moved to Brazil to settle down.

It's hard to decide which countries but I would like to see Australian fighter and Irish fighter. Also we need to get more characters from previous games to rep the countries like Hakan, Abel (France), Rose (Italy), etc.

Ireland - female drunken boxer
Norway - pirate who uses glima (Viking wrestling)
Indonesia - pencak silat assassin
Australia - animal lover whose fighting style is based on studying animals (kangaroo kick, crocodile roll, etc.)
New Zealand - Maori rugby player

I main Mika but am looking towards picking up a secondary. Any suggestions on who'd be good, preferably not charge characters. looking for someone who does what mika doesnt, like matchup wise etc.

Kolin looks fun judging from the japa cup top 8 fight i saw of her, havent bought her yet though.

We're long overdue for a Habesha (Eritrean/Ethiopean) character. I'll even do the English voice myself if they want an ethnically-accurate actor (14+ years of Theatre plays/musicals/training under my belt).

That one's really good.

I posted this a year ago on FAQs and decided to pull this up since we're talking about original characters.

- Japanese Aikido/kendo high school girl. Yes, it plays up tropes, but a really badass character can be made this way. Doesn't even have to wear a seifuku, she could wear a modified/personalized kendo uniform. The kendo stick would have to be like half-length to be balanced though.

-Big bulky guy without a single special move. Built like Astaroth. He has god-tier normals and command normals, and even has reversal normals (think Ryo's reversals, but with a throw attached).

-Big Swedish metalhead. Swings massive electric guitar around for attacks, has movement speed of Birdie. Specials and Supers are named after metal songs (for example, an electric based move with him slamming his guitar called "Ride the Lightning"
I didn't know about Ky Kiske at this point.
). Win quotes and story dialogue reference metal songs, bands, and culture in general. Must have guitar-playing move (perfect example: Big Band's trumpet from SG)

I'd like to add a fourth character I had in mind at the time too. He's a Canadian named Carl, and he's loosely based on Chuck Norris. His entire moveset is based around Chuck's trademark roundhouse kick (including his CA literally being a single mega strong RH kinda like Boxer's). He's super arrogant, impolite, and a total brat (definitely not living up to the Canadian stereotype), but here's the kicker - He's Dan's (second) top student, and he looks up to Sakura like an idol as his master's first and best student. Unlike Dan himself, though, Carl actually has bite to his bark. He's an incredible fighter in the lore, and claims to be Fei Long's number one rival (like the Norris vs Lee rivalries back in the day), though this is a one-sided thing like Rufus and Ken.

Lmao I went maximum nerd just now.

Let's put a West African Lutte Traditionnelle grappler and a female Israeli krav maga expert on the wishlist too.

I'll second that Krav Maga specialist.

And add in a Puerto Rican Judo/Wrestler (PRs only other export is Baseball players, Boxers and Rum)

I'm more open for another Canadian fighter which would be more based on stereotypical Canadian like Lumberjack or Mountie with an obsession with maple syrup. Abigail is great but nothing about him would tell you that he's a Canadian, other than his hair shape and his moves' names.

Best-case scenario would be getting the gym tracksuit costume as her default while her classic schoolgirl outfit is her story costume, like Guile (not that Guile has a classic schoolgirl outfit).

Definitely.

I really hope they go with the jacket + skirt combo. The outfit looks kinda bland otherwise.

Agree they need to up the country reps.
Screw Abel, use Simone instead. Good rival to Cammy and she would be like Yoshimitsu with limited sword use.

Since Allen Sniders never coming back I hope they give us a new Chuck Norris inspired character.
Would like to see a Pacquiao character too. Indonesian as others have said. Mongolian..
I would love an Aussie rep (bit of Crocodile Dundee, and Steve Irwin).
Noemblu should be given a go too, Ruby Heart would also be awesome to see.

Santamu is from Ethiopia, though she's not playable (but you fight against her in story mode).

It's sad how few African characters there are...not just in SF, but in all fighting games. In fact, I think SF is actually leading the pack with Elena, Santamu, and hopefully, Menat.

Jesus christ I just ran into Idom online.

Did you 2-0 him?

Got my ass whooped and ended up feeding more into his winstreak lmao. But I'm a huge fan of him so I loved that I got to play him.

Are Menat, Elena, Eliza (SG), and Zafina (TK) the only playable Africans in fighting games? Is Bruce from Africa? Actually surprised we haven't seen an African spear-hunter, pirate, or witch doctor in any game.

You know what game needs African characters bad? Soul fucking Calibur. Imagine the sick ass weapons you could use with African kings and warriors.

Edit: Wait guys what if Menat is another "Zen" red herring? Menat may only be a dev-side codename.

Bruce Irvin is from U.S., I believe.

Anakaris from DS is Egyptian
Zazie from Fighter's History is Kenyan
Ramses from Eternal Champions is Egyptian

And, Zasalamel from Soul Calibur is from...Africa, I think...Egypt maybe? Gotta look that up...
Where ever he's from, they made sure to give him the boot in SC5...along with Talim and the Koreans. Not a shining pillar of diversity, that SC5...

EDIT: Google says Zasalamel may be from the Middle East? (Sumarian)
