What Nationality or Country would you want to see in a new Street Fighter Character?

We got in terms of playable characters in the series lifetime so far:

3 Brazil reps (Does Oro count?)
14 USA reps (Does Ed count?)
1 Canadian
3 Mexican
1 Jamaican
4 England
2 french
1 Spain
1 Kenyan
13 Japan
7 Chinese
3 Thai
1 S. Korean
1 indian
1 italy
4 russian
3 german
1 Arabic
2 Greek (urien/Gill?)
1 Turkey
3 (Unknown, Q, Ingrid, Seth)

What are other countries you want to see repped for a new Street Fighter character? or what would you like to see more of from a certain country?

I can't believe the series has gone on for 30 years and there is not one Australian or New Zealand character. Only one from the whole African continent too. Those have to be the biggest omissions for me. US and Japan are so over-represented but that's a problem with fighters in general.

On the other hand waiting 30 years for a Canadian character only to get Abigail makes me wish they never bothered.

Scotland would be nice. Just use that Tartan Apron Man (TAM) from the background of Street Fighter IV's Historic Distillery if you like.

Australia is at the top of my list of countries I would like to he represented. Vitenam would be great as other places like Wales, Scotland and Ireland. To be honest I'm getting sick of the Japan/America overload when it comes to roster representation.

My only worry with Capcom is that they just stereotype the fuck out of them. I can already picture how they'd show a Scottish character and I'm just shaking my head already.

A Nigerian Prince would be swell. Love the accent so yeah, a Nigerian character.

Good thing to note, the Dolls vary a lot more in ethnic backgrounds that aren't covered by main characters. I think one is Vietnamese, no?

Would love to see another Desi character. Doesn't have to be Indian, could be Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, anything really.

The series has too many boxers already man, just let it go.

Cause you just know if they're black then they're either a thug character or a boxer.

I'd love to see more characters from Africa, Central Asia, or Latin America. At the same time, I'm wary because Capcom will likely give us an incredibly stereotypical representation of said characters (like much of the existing cast). It'd be cool to get someone from Namibia but not if they were some racist nonsense.

Lights and Waves said:
No. More. Blondes.

PLEASE.

I have to second this sentiment. Goddamn Capcom's obsession with this look is unreal.

I'd like to see a character from the Phillipines with Eskrima as the fighting style.

I'd like to see a Scotsman as well.

Abigail is Canadian? I had to look up who the Canadian Street Fighter was.

Can we trade him in for another Canadian?

Someone from Wales, please. The Welsh don't get enough rep.

Side note: it's always annoyed me SF reps England with a UK flag and not the English one.

I always thought of Tekken as a better representation of different Nationalities and legitimate fighting styles, so it's kind of odd that this topic is about Street Fighter. Let's get a kiwi in one of these games.

I always thought it was odd that Tekken has had three kickboxers and not a single one of them or any other character is Thai.

While Tekken is the king in actually letting their nationality shine through in their moveset and character design as well, Street Fighter does at least rep characters in a similar fashion as well.

Tekken then also took it one step further with characters actually speaking their native languages which is something every fighting game needs to copy tbh.

Australia
Colombia
Egypt
Indonesia
Iran
Iraq
Peru
Philippines
Polynesia (any country, really)
The Nordics (primarily Norway or Iceland)
Venezuela
Vietnam

In terms of martial arts, I want Pencak Silat, Eskrima (Eagle is great, but I'd like to see a native user), Dambe, Bajiquan (I want an Akira/Leo) specifically represented.

The next SFV character is Egyptian, so that's something.

I didn't know that. That's a nice start.

Countries like Nigeria and Namibia mentioned above would be really cool as well. Africa in general has so much cool history and culture that's really underused in games and general pop culture.

French Savate might be interesting. Also ain't Necali from NZ?
Aparently Remy uses Savate, but as a Guile/Nash clone, it doesn't seem to be all too inspired by the style.
There is actually a character that uses Eskrima. Eagle.

But he's a white blonde guy so yeah.
Nope, this is the best you'll get for now.
Wiki (however accurate that can be) tells me that Eagle uses bojutsu though, so maybe there's a difference in stances and styles.

I think Rolento is more about Eskrima than Eagle.

Isreali / Krav Maga fighter. Make em' a Mossad agent on downtime.

and Latin America sorely needs more representation, especially considering how big the fighting scene is down there.

I can imagine the pre fight dialogue now...

Guile: You said if I gave you my address, bank account number and SSN, I would get millions!
Nigerian Prince: That wasn't...me. I don't have Viagra either.
Guile: That's the final straw mister! This is for America!

i'd obviously love a character from my home country: switzerland.

he could have a time gimmick or a super buff Schwinger from the alps.
i'd settle for a corrupt banker/FIFA official.

i think the only real prominent character we have is Mercy from Overwatch.
