I can't believe people think OurMine is something to be concerned about. They're total jokes. Their shtick is hacking social media accounts and and get publicy from drama channels.

What is there to trend if there is no leak?

Nope, looks like it was facebook aswell.

The fact of the matter is that we don't know the extent yet so the title 'PSN possibly hacked' is perfectly acceptable.

This.

I'm not saying they did get into PSN, but I haven't actually heard anything official either way.

Well regardless it's just social media is what I'm saying. There is zero evidence of PSN itself being hacked.

Hmm junior member.... And your avatar.... Kind of suspicious.

No PSN is fine. Most likely twitter hack.

They never said they brought PSN down.

They just said they got the database.

It's unconfirmed either way at this point.

Wish this shitty attitude of “lul junior member” would die off already.

Hopefully just a social media hack but deleting my payment info anyway.

Right, except the hackers say they have hacked a database and sony is yet to release a statement. So 'possibly hacked' is still a good enough title.

They kinda hacked the ways Sony would tell you about it (but nothing more)

They could do a statement on their website but probably won't because that would make things look more serious than they apparently are

uhh
facebook is social media as well

I hope you're right. And I'm just overreacting.

Don't think it would be too hard with twitter or facebook

I don't know like anything about that sort of stuff but I feel like their are a lot of locks in place to prevent these things, specially for very important accounts. The ability to get into anyone's account and see everything they have posted privately is damning.

Not when the group has always only gotten into Twitter/Facebook accounts. Notice how they never mention stealing info on any other tweets:

They only mention "database(s)" because of Sony's history. Just starting shit for no reason.

There's zero evidence to support a PSN hack, as they've provided none. The responsible thread title would be, "PlayStation social media accounts hacked". To suggest a leak is giving them what these people want: attention.

i'm assuming that a group of people handle those type of accounts so they probably don't turn on 2FA for that reason

Same group that hit Shuhei's personal twitter account (@yosp).

Anyone with a tech/security mind, how do they do it? Surely it's not brute force as I'd hate to think corporation accounts use passwords like ihaveadoglol.

Wouldn't they need the PlayStation account email too? Or I guess the username suffices if they have the password.

dammit

just a "Announcing Sony's first console crossplay game - Uncharted the Lost Legacy. Coming soon to xbox one and Switch with full crossplay compatibility"

hackers are no fun

If only we had some hackers that were creative for a change lol

They really should have announced a 'renewed commitment to fostering cross-platform gaming, starting with ARK: Survival Evolved this November'.

Even if it is just the Twitter and Facebook accounts, these people should be severely punished if caught. The damage this can do to a company. It isn't fair.

Some sites/apps can be granted access to post to a social media account. If that site gets compromised then tweets can be made from it by the attacker even if they don't have social media account credentials. The most notable one was Linkedin.

Sony hardware, MS software. Co-operation would solve this whole thing once and for all. (Also, I am super glad I removed my financial information yesterday, purely by coincidence.)
