Final Fantasy 15 - Windows Version Trailer (PC)

Why is it called Windows Edition? Is it exclusive to MS Store?

Edit: Didn't see OP edit. Good to see it's on Steam instead

So they are actually calling their tech 'Luminous Engine' for the PC Version. Console version utilized Luminous Studio Pro. More explanation below:

*About Luminous Engine
In 2012, Square Enix announced Luminous Studio, a next generation game engine. In 2016, Luminous Studio was integrated with Ebony, the proprietary engine with which FINAL FANTASY XV was developed, and evolved into Luminous Studio Pro. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of FINAL FANTASY XV were developed with Luminous Studio Pro. As development for FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION commenced, the engine moved another generation forward by integrating NVIDIA GameWorks technology, resulting in Luminous Engine.

I fully expect the Nvidia settings to completely demolish the framerate on even Nvidia cards, and that's okay, because having the options is still cool.

Here's my question, though: 21:9? I thought I saw a promotional image with art on a mockup of a 21:9 monitor.

Why is it called Windows Edition?

Because it's not on Mac or Linux

I just need to know how well my PC will run this game. A GTX 980 and an i7-4790k clocked at 4Ghz should be fine and give a noticeable improvement over the PS4 version, but I'd love to see some benchmarks. If I can play this at 1080/60fps with that glorious IQ at High settings then I'll be happy. Maybe with some of the gameworks stuff on, but that may be a pipe dream.

So this is where I start playing FF games fully right?!

Very good, but also very expected with all the info and demos around. I do love seeing a game go totally full on with the platform - which makes me yearn to see some modding tools / workshop etc thrown in at some point along with all the other goodies (if not already supporting this stuff - not been following all this)

Steam version even have russian voice-over, what?

Totally dig companies going full on with this sort of stuff and understand the wealth of audience. I hope it does well with this kind of localisation - definitely lots of folk I know who want this

Well, 2018 gives them enough time to get Ignis gameplay down and allow for character switching in the PC version.

Be warned for those who haven't played through FFXV, there's a random poster trolling on the comments section of the Nvidia page responding to every post with late game spoilers.

I'm personally not as bothered because I'm not expecting a fantastic story out of this title due to the development miasma it went through, but I really enjoyed the gameplay when I played the Episode Duscae demo, so I'm looking forward to the PC release.

I am curious if this game will support HBAO+ for an ambient occlusion solution for those whose performance gets hit too hard by VXAO?

Does the new engine enhancements and name change indicate that Luminous will be used by future SE titles? With the work to deeply integrate high-end Gameworks features into the engine, it kind of suggests to me that Luminous might be Square's go to engine for the next generation of game consoles.

The XV team will continue to use it, their other teams seem to be using UE4, other unnamed in house engines for mobile, and Unity.

Been waiting a while for a PC version.

I honestly hope there's a 60FPS option. Looks great, has the usual PC features and all that, but I'd trade 4K for 60FPS any day.

I'm really curious if they're going to use the extra CPU power for anything extra.

I see they've actually got volumetric fire in the game....it'll be interesting to see a game try to use it forreal. Really want to see if they're going to expand that into its fire propagation with Elemancy.

I mean, they kind of have to now. Look at all that damn grass lol

Any chance they will put the more advanced lighting engine in they removed?

Wouldn't really say they "removed" it, they just made it feasible. But if you're talking about the real-time global illumination, I believe they mentioned some other solution here.

And in a previous FFXV demo reel they actually showed debug footage with their realtime GI working, so yeah it's there.

There's no specs listed on Steam or on the press release, and we're half a year away from release so I wouldn't lose my head over 170GB disk space.

Back in 2016 the devs said they were making this engine for future Final Fantasies and not just XV. Guess we'll see when XVI is announced, but the Luminous team and XV team are already hiring for R&D research in further improving its development efficiency and rendering on a broad scale as well as for XV team's new IP.

I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements they'll make to their animation system, which is already fantastic.

Man we will truly get high settings. This game was a port to PS4 and One. We're getting the true version

That's more the result of a very talented, well funded, and dedicated animation team over some specific or unique animation blending technology. Instead the need to make major improvement to their cutscene workflow and model creation. Keyframed facial animation and really limited blendshapes really isn't cutting it anymore.

Has any word been said about content integration? I know it's coming with the announced DLC, but I'd love to have them integrated into the story rather than in a separate menu.

I have yet to play it or buy it for PS4 but I feel conflicted. On one end FF13 and FF13-2 ran like crap on PC and even with tinkering to make it better, it benefited NVidia users more than AMD users (like myself) and it still ran like garbage no matter what setting/resolution. FF13-2 was the only FF game I've bought on PC and I regret it because of how bad of a port it was so here's hoping that they actually optimize it for PC properly.
