Please.

Uncharted 4 had zero padding.

I'm not responsible for JLaw's shitty opinions on how masterfully constructed slow moments are "padding".

Uncharted 4 is the best adventure game of the decade -- it also happens to have the best 3rd person shooter mechanics around. If anything, it *lacks* content by not having more shooting.

The only problem with UC4 like all past games is when they add too many enemy waves into a fight. Thankfully, Lost Legacy doesn't go overboard with that here.

Btw in one of the early scenes there are characters speaking Hindi. While not outside of the realm of possibility, you probably won't find much Hindi speakers in the area of India that the game's based around (since Hindi is a North Indian language and the game seems to be based in South India). But the interesting thing is that some of them, atleast at the very start, also speak what I can only assume is Kannada (the language of Karnataka, India) and the script that you see in billboards are in that language too most likely.

Please.

Uncharted 4 had zero padding.
Lol ok
I'll remember that the next time I play the game and have to do another slide on rocks gameplay or filler climbing that almost solely exist for the purpose of that banter.

There were more forced walking, more climbing, more cutscenes, more drawn out chapters filled with bloat and filler to pad it out to make the game artificially longer ruining pacing and replayability in UC4 than TLL

Atleast in TLL there's more actual gameplay, still not perfect or not as good as UC2 but TLL is atleast slightly better UC4 as a game

UC4 tried to be very TLOU which Uncharted is not known for and is meant to be more a action game first and foremost, heck there was more fun gameplay in TLOU than UC4 and better pacing etc, I might not make sense but this is the to the best of my English abilities lol

Creating unique content cannot possibly be "filler" or "padding".

This is an exceedingly simple point -- padding would be repeating areas, or adding pointless and repetitive combat arenas, like every other game out there.

You can argue until you are blue in the face that you didn't like the pacing of the game. But padded it is not.

I didn't feel that at all, I loved every minute and would have been happier with a longer game. Each to their own. I wasn't a huge fan of of the original trilogy but loved this.

Some people obviously don't know what "padding" is...
lemme guess, walking simulator right? 😂

To late for me to start last night, but getting it in tonight for sure!

Not possible. Uncharted 4 is perfect. Fight me.

I hope this game does not bomb (relative to their expectations) -- the OT is moving so much slower than the last entry. At chapter 4 and i'm enjoying the pacing and game more than UC4. Chloe and Nadine make a great duo IMO.

There is this looming dread i'm sensing... it increasingly grows as i get closer to beating TLL. Really bummed that this might be the last Uncharted title we get for a while as ND puts the series into hiatus. I've loved the series over the past 10 years. It has been a great source of entertainment and really fits my taste as a gamer. Pretty unbelievable that they made this game in a little over 12 months. Crazy actually.

What was the original OT title? Half of the first page is filled with people complaining how bad it was. Was it a play on the word Ass or something?

It hasn't changed (yet). People just wanted it to be something 'ass' related but others wanted to avoid sexualization of Chloe.

If it does change, I like the You've missed this Sass and Chloe's Fortune ideas.

I thought it was the exact opposite! I thought it had a sexualized title first and then changed it to this one.

This OP is moving dissapointingly slow. I knew this game would never sell as much as U4 but I hope no one blames this game's performance (if it disappoints) due to it starring two women of color.

I wouldn't worry. This started as DLC and was in dev for 1 year and utilized a lot of assets from UC4. Expectations are nowhere near UC4, for example.

Done with the game (on hard) Started at midnight, finish around noon. One of the best game of this generation. I give it 9.5/10

Uncharted 4 is still my favorite. But they got something really goddamn good here, Hopefully there's more.

What I want from the next game.

No puzzles.
More characters.
More cutscenes.
Dial back just a little bit of the shoot outs, it got super repetitive wave after wave.

For one, perhaps "replayability" isn't the most important aspect when considering a game's structure and design. (That criticism always seems to pop up, not just for 4; that if a game isn't designed and paced for replaying, then it's poor design)

And two, just calling sections filler and padding doesn't make it so. Just because they slow down the pacing doesn't make them bloat, filler, and padding, if they're in service of the narrative and overarching pacing. You not liking those aspects doesn't make them extraneous

I doubt they have huge expectations. Its a full game spin-off made in only a year

It's not out in Europe yet.

Uncharted 2 is a great example because it's full of just pure fun action gameplay you can keep replaying it, it's the only one I got a Platinum trophy for, other ones I can't push myself since I'm not having as much fun with the other Uncharted as I did with Uncharted 2. This one was perfect

I sold all my Uncharted games including Uncharted trilogy remaster and just bought this separate one

The "you not liking x doesn't make it bad" statement probably applies to GAF more broadly.

Well said, I was gonna do another paragraph post in defense of UC4's slower pace, but you summed it up well. Suffice to say, the transition from a bombastic Indiana Jones narrative of previous titles to the more personal, slower paced story told in 4 (my favorite hands down), certainly lost some UC followers who were expecting more of the same.

Just finished it after 15 hours at least(yeah I'm slow). Easily one of the best games this year.

Now I'm hungry for more Chloe.

Spoiler
I wish Sully was there instead of Sam. Fuck Sam.

Just realized this came out today. Doesn't look like I can get the pre-order pricing from Amazon anymore.

ARRRGH.

This. Jackman must've been working on UC4 and CW at the same time, because both titles were bland as fuck. I'm really just trying to give the dude an out, because TWS OST was so damn good.

UC4 had a couple of memorable ost's here and there, though I missed the classic touch by Sir Greg Edmonson. Mr Henry Jackman's worked way too hard for UC4, that he might have been too tired to stay awake while compsing for Civil War, because it's score was just bad or not present. His best work has been Winter Soldier, Kingsman1 and Xmen First Class!

Currently on chapter 2, amazing so far the attention to detail is expected coming from ND but incredible none the less.

One complaint though, they are reusing music from U4 and it doesn't fit the Indian setting, and it's shit. Henry Jackman was a bad fucking choice for this series.

Yeah this game is absolutely stunning. Sometimes you run through rooms with insane detail on wall carvings/murals, where you only stay for 5 seconds. The dedication of ND is remarkable.

Also, some important info gathered for trophy hunters about the finicky and vague 'Way of the Warrior' trophy.

- Update to the latest patch because there's a bug that makes a grenade close to you count as a weapon fired
- Don't touch any button related to guns, don't even mark enemies to be sure. This from the prologue to the start of ch5. You can make a manual save before the first encounter in ch3 to save time.
- Start a new game without carrying over your stats. I had to look for this on the official ND support pages: "Additionally, you have to start a New Game and opt to NOT carry stats over when prompted whenever you attempt this Trophy."

I'm going to do a 4th try after work, hopefully it finally unlocks because I never reset my stats. All the other trophies are easy but this one is hell somehow. Just because of the unclear and very specific requirements.

It's a standalone adventure like all the other Uncharteds, but it is definitely related to Uncharted 4. I would still advise you to play it because it's one of the best entries in the series, but it's loosely tied to U4 in particular.

Make sure you are patched up to 1.02 to get the bug fix.

Post to the technical support thread on it if you continue to have problems.

I'm loving my time with the game so far, it plays like a great Indy style action adventure movie and some locations are truly breathtaking. One thing that still bothers me are the puzzles. I got stuck with the
shadows
one for more time than I think I should and this wouldn't be so noticeable if the game didn't hold your hand when it comes to exploration.

Watched the whole playthrough on YouTube.

So it seems it is of course mainly Uncharted 4, but less padding which is good. Though there is still padding of lots of climbing and the boring parts etc for filler

Overall I'd say this is atleast slightly better than Uncharted 4

You watched a play through instead of playing the game. You can't judge a game like that

I have played about three hours, its more Uncharted 4. The whole go to an area and oh no "ambush!" thing does get old really fast. It's really run its course in these Uncharted games.

Just got pre-order code from Amazon UK but I can't seem to redeem it on my PSN account online; am I doing something wrong?

I assume no one else who ordered through Amazon has had their Jak & Daxter code sent out yet, correct?

Got my UK code 2 hours after my order was dispatched, but I cannot redeem it.

When I try to redeem in on PC in a browser, the code is recognised as Jak but nothing happens when I click the redeem button.

When I try to do it on PS4, I get an error that the code cannot be redeemed.

Any ideas?

Edit: I see I'm not the only one.

Gonna preface this by saying I have played UC4 three times:

The thing with UC4's areas with a slower pace is the character moments in between all of the arenas and set pieces were the best in the series. It has my favorite story and my favorite villains. The motivation of the characters, the twists, the Nate
and Elena relationship
tying into your journey with Sam and Sully, it all was top-notch. And then the actual gameplay? Some of the most seamless I've played in a game with responsive controls, a variety of ways to tackle each encounter, and some bombastic set pieces involving collapsing buildings, Crash Bandicoot-like chases, speedboats, and motorcycles. They take the cover shooter and turn it around, making it so you can't just stay in one spot with the destructible barriers but also giving you plenty of ways to get around areas and plenty of stealth spots in the large arenas.

I replayed UC4 in the past month in order to get me ready for Lost Legacy, and it very well may be my favorite Uncharted. This is coming from someone who loved 2 and 3 and liked 1. 2 is easier to replay immediately since there isn't as much downtime in 4, and no young Drake section as in 3. 2 is fantastic. I think 3 also is and doesn't get the credit I feel it deserves. It's a testament to how highly I think of 4 that I could consider saying it's the best.

I dunno if Lost Legacy could beat that (only on Chapter 4), but regardless, it does have the advantage of having 4's gameplay.

Exactly same problem here. Either it's not active yet or Amazon have messed up.

Yeah reading the email again and it seems you need the disc to redeem the code:

Redemption Instructions:

You'll need a Sony Entertainment Network account (previously called PlayStation Network account) to download the content. If you’re having problems with your code, please visit http://uk.playstation.com/support/.
(1) Ensure the game disc is inserted into your PlayStation 4 system.
(2) Create an SEN (previously PSN) account, or log into your existing SEN account.
(3) Select the PlayStation Store icon on the PlayStation 4 system home screen.
(4) Select “Redeem Codes” from the left-hand menu.
(5) Enter your code. (Please note: codes are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed.)
(6) Select “Continue” in the dialog box, once the code has been entered correctly.
(7) Select “Download” to start downloading the content.
(8) Select “Continue” to complete the code redemption process.

Not sure if that's just generic wording for all pre-order bonuses or we really need to have the disc inserted lol.
