I honestly didn't care about 17 at all before the current arc of Super. Had this announcement been a year ago I wouldn't have minded at all. In fact, considering this was likely decided a while ago, it makes sense that they're doing this. It's just a shame 17 is back and better than ever and that it won't be reflected in the game at all, at least not yet.

Could sworn i seen a 18+krillin specail, or probably a story mode thing. Really dont like that they paired 17 and 18. Maybe we will get a seperate 17 later.

This Beta registration is weird, you can registrate any e-mail to It. I Wonder If they Will check If its a PSN registered e-mail after.

We have full pre-order details and know basically everything about the closed beta, with at lest a rough date for the open beta. If there's an announcement... another character? What else could it be?

I wonder if it is actually random or if it is Overwatch beta "random". Given that they are doing this VIP code thing I think they should be able to avoid that controversy and make the actual non VIP code selections random.

They gave 18 a barrier LOL. (On top of 17's barrier that she can call)

"But 17 from Super could get in !" That's the thing, people misremember 17 a lot, but Z 17 is the exact same, in terms of fighting style. It's not a spinning barrier and a yellow energy blast that somehow made him a fresh character. You just get to see 17 without interference in Super. That's the biggest difference.

No, but his popularity from Super is relatively new. It doesn't matter if he's the same, he has more relevance nowadays which is too late when they finalized the roster for this game. DLC is a possibility later.

Relevance does matter because if say, the series ended at Dragon Ball we would probably see characters like Roshi and Tao Pai Pai as a lock lol

Fighting games do this ALL THE TIME dude. For a recent example, Alex was a background character in Street Fighter V, but he ended up being the first DLC character. Just because he's in someone's moveset doesn't mean he's never getting in, quit being so dramatic.

I think so, absolutely no signing up. It's like they're throwing beta invites to the entire pool of Xbox Gamertags.

Ridiculous, sad, stupid idea using Xbox Insider Hub

Edit: Maybe not stupid using Hub but making it random is, how do they know who is even interested in playing it?

I hear you, but they didn't just put him in someone's moveset. They gave his defining feature to 18, even though she never had it.

That's pretty much giving up on the character. Coupled with the lack of care (off centered barrier) and the copy paste 18 animations, you gotta understand I'm kind of heart broken right now.

I guess in the absolute best case scenario, they'd make a super version of 18/17 which would be 17/18 and they'd let 17 be the leader. They'd be two puppeteers of sort, like Carl and Relius.

But this isn't happening. To them 17 and 18 are in the game and just fine.
