Destiny 2 - European Dead Zone (EDZ) gameplay

Here is a summary from this video, thanks to Reddit:

- They played for 16 hours and got about two thirds through the story. That time does include "a bit of PvP and strikes" and adventures.
- "Destiny 2 is not a grindfest at all"
- You start with absolutely nothing, no power.
- Progress is a lot better than in D1.
- Mentions you unlock different things at different levels.
- He didn't have his sparrow yet at level 20.
- Armor doesn't get cool until the endgame.
- Talks about Titan (the planet). One of the locations is an abandoned resort. Game looks absolutely stunning.
- Music is also amazing, apparently only 4 guys at Bungie are responsible for the music.
- Zero complaints, except maybe you have to start all over.
- (Obviously) they haven't played anything of the end game. He was told the (end)game would unfold "like a flower" once you finish the campaign.

Is posting video like this okay on NeoGaf? As we don't know if it's breaking NDA from Bungie/Activision?

I sincerely hope there's actual content to keep non-grinders interested post story. My friends and I could get through 20 hours of gameplay in a couple days easily, and then what? I really hope they have some good ideas for longevity.

I prefer keeping most stuff secret. What ever happened to being surprised nowadays? Games and Movies don't have that anymore because almost every little detail is revealed prior to release.

I think my Alts in D1 (literal thousands of hours) still can't enter PoE unless dragged in by their fire team because they haven't done the HoW campaign 😂 Doing a campaign 3x is actual madness.

Quick question to those in the know:

I played a lot of D1 and I was a big fan of the Prison of Elders. Have they announced anything similar to that yet? I just ask because I don't have a big clan to play with and some of my "grinding" came from that...but I enjoyed it immensely.

Nothing similar for now. Or at least I never heard of something similar.

As for "secrets and surprises":

Knowing Bungie and their track record with Destiny, it's a little foolish to assume something they haven't hinted, teased or mentioned is being "kept secret".

I'm not saying there's definitely no third subclass, but at this point it really isn't something I'd count on. At all. I'd love to be surprised? But don't get your hopes up.

EDIT: Feel kinda bad for the destiny public events site. But it is nice to see that they have that feature built into the game now. Wonder if it extends to other planets, though?

Do we know who the voice actor for Devrim is? I might still be high off GoT but I thinkI heard a hint of Jorah in there lol

Not yet, but I feel like a Court of Oryx / Archon's Forge esque public area could be in the game.

I think I've read that they've taken Court/Forge-style encounters and put them into Public Events.

Which sounds good. They were a real faff.

Son of a bugger, I missed the videos. I've only seen multiplayer videos so far. The free roam / public event / story stuff is what I play the first game for. I really wanted to see a preview of this type of content in Destiny 2.

but am liking the changes they are bringing to pve and patrols (other than the weapon change). cant wait

I can't look away, spoilers be damned.

Loving the variety of activities just within the exploratory spaces like EDZ. Lost Sectors is especially intriguing.

Not to mention, game looks beautiful. 2 more weeks!

Found and watched mirrors of both videos, I'm absolutely shocked to say this but the music is fucking incredible. I was not impressed originally with what I heard before but the stuff in the longer video is quality. I'm glad they finally decided to create their own sound and stick with it instead of trying to imitate Marty's work and fail. The end result is super whimsical and much more playful, absolutely love it.

I was referring to the actual act of selecting 'Patrol' in the D1 Director. I imagine this game starts out the same way when you log in (in space whenver you log in and then you open the Director to fly to the planet).

Eh, I didn't consider that, it's a fair point. I'm the kind of guy where I generally want to play right as it releases so I'd rather pre-load than wait in line. If you have a brick and mortar place you can do a midnight launch pickup, might be worth the difference in gas money.

"not a grindfest" honestly disappoints me, lol. There is something beautiful and pure about the grind in destiny. I'm not even joking, as much as I'd like to be.
