I don't love Shinn though

Basically. Anyone like us who at least like SEED Destiny don't like it for Shinn.

I will give him at least some credit. He acts like such a brat and such that it a makes the moment when he loses in the finale all the more sweeter.

Shinn got his ass beat in front of his girl...

Shinn is the ultimate gundam Fuccboi and shows why discipline is important in a military setting. He gets away with murder and is treated like a hero for it.

Shinn is lovable because hes relatable and he keeps his Athrun sane.

Yay it's done.

Beam saber is insanely huge... Still have not found or messed around enough to make a "pose" but I think it came out well. The arms are really weighed down by the weapons though, already had them fall apart a bit trying to move them around, but without it they are stable as heck.

Time for my usual, beat a game then move on to my next kit. Gonna do Legilis next~ For how bad AGE was overall this was a cool design imo.

Isn't that every Four clone in every Gundam series.

There's a couple that escape it. Allenby is pretty normal despite being G Gundam's Cyber newtype proxy. So is whatshername from Build Fighters.

So...if the Gundam show is one of the good ones then the Four clone isn't completely batshit loco.

Aila is the best. I actually liked Four, she's a nice girl...just you know piloting the Psyco Gundam.

Ended up having some extra cash and ended up grabbing the PG Banshee Unicorn and ended up shipping my RG Unicorn early to get my new side cutters as well.

That brings up my total number of Unicorns to 5. Will probably end up with a RG Banshee Norn and FA Unicorn if they do kits of those too so that's another two. I really like the Unicorn, but it's not like it's my favorite design. I have a problem.

(Side note, Full Cloth Crossbone is done. I'll get pics up soon I promise. It's been a mix of bad weather/lighting and being ill that's stopped me so far)

None of us want to walk down this road. Once you take it to its conclusion, you've gotta start asking who gives Windams to those dudes who literally stick to a single position in the sky and just move their rifle to fire at the Impulse. Guys, you've got him surrounded like fifteen to one and that other red suit is just fucking around. I think you can bum rush him. Goddammit, Seed is cheap.

I think the in-universe explanations are that 'They have no other choice!' and all that razz. That seems to have been the implication with Stella. I don't actually remember the rationale for Four herself though. I watched Zeta a long time ago (and the super-Tominoness of the plot didn't leave a lasting impression on my memory).

They were talking about Shinn, not Stella!

Dearka had one job. Shoot them folks from far away. Failed most of the time.

Not only does he survive, his ass gets promoted.

New stuff from the hobby magazines, courtesy of gundamkitscollection.

RG Johnny Ridden's MS-06R-2 Zaku II High Mobility Type
HGUC Blue Destiny Unit 2 "EXAM"
HG ORIGIN MS-06CK Zaku Half Cannon
MG RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom

Hard pass for me on everything but that Blue Destiny kit. I've been waiting for the Gundam head one.

An impressively boring array. These are all remolds, yes? (I'm not sure about Blue Destiny off the top of my head). The real surprise is ending the year on such a boring master grade. Looking at the wiki, I actually don't see any comparably unimpressive kits that close out the year (a couple recolors are listed last in old years but something else also came out in December in those years). ... Unless we're getting a master grade in December too, but I assumed that Bandai is gone. I'm guessing the ZZ ver. ka will be it this year.

Friend is going out of town Friday through Monday... got a free weekend with no obligations (at the moment) to make my last Gunpla of the summer woo~

Looking forward to trying out this mr. surfacer white before painting. Which sounds lame but I'm really excited to try another painted build haha. Legilis might be done Monday!

I love the hell out of Gundam X. My favorite characterization in the franchise, some neat battles, and a soundtrack I really dig. The orchestrated track that plays in opening sequence explaining the background of After War sticks with me.

On the flip side, a couple of the primary antagonists are awful - bizzarely out of place considering the effort put into everyone else - and the mecha design is... hit or miss. The Gundam X is one of my favorite designs ever (I could gush!) and Bertigo is the best Qubeley period, taking the original design and melding in a boss pigeon motiff. Virsago and Ashtaron are too blunt, feeling more like super-robots, and some of the others, probably Airmaster the most, feel like designs picked up from the cutting room from the past series of the time.

I wonder what year Moon Gundam is set in.

Bu yeah, X is one of my favorite AUs. Turn A, IBO, X, BF, G,00, Age, W, Seed/D is my personal order.

A new manga set in UC has been announced

http://otakomu.jp/archives/592735.html
Harutoshi Fukui (Gundam Unicorn) will be in charge of story, with Takayuki Kosai (Gundam MSV-R, Gundam Unicorn Testament) on board as artist. Iron Blooded Orphans/G-Reco mechanical designer Ippei Gyoubu will be responsible for the new series’s mecha.

Moon Gundam... is a connection to Turn A Gundam possible?

The end of the dark history... :O

Decided to rewatch the original dub of SEED before the HD re-release in Dub comes out.

Honestly I still think the show and the dub still hold up well. I like the characters, the plot, and all of that jazz.

But the one thing that does hamper it... Is those goddamn reused animations. I swear the more times I rewatch the more reused animations I notice. It can really kill the mood when you see the same ship get destroyed or when the Raider used his chain ball attack was the same thing every. time.

I imagine it's not as big of an issue in the HD remaster from what I've managed to see. With this fresh in my mind, it will be interesting to see how many differences/improvements I notice without guides.

Now. Onto Destiny.

To which I've always wondered, was Shinn always destined to become an antagonist? In the sense that, in development of the show, did they always plan for him to become so?

Look, I fucking haaaaaaaaaaaate SEED. Hate Destiny. The CE series are a fucking cancer to me.

However, I will say the remasters are very nice looking. Remaster is the wrong fucking word though, the SEED and Destiny remasters were rebuilt from the ground up, episode order changed up, cgi totally redone. Those series were such early digital series they didnt upscale for shit and there is so little reused animation.

I think the staff just realized that the old cast just worked better as characters. Shinn could not carry his own show.

I didn't watch the show as it aired back in the day, but was there any 'breaks' to finish more episodes or did they work on the show as it aired? I will admit to not being too familiar with the specifics of the time frame of when anime works on it's episodes. I know for longer shows like DBS that they're working on a few episodes ahead (I think) as the current ones air.

Off topic from SEED.

How's the dub of iron blooded orphans? I find Gundam a bit easier to consume when watching the dub. I did watch a bit of the sub back in the day when it was initially airing and found it alright. The Earth villains were far too mustache twirling so that did sort of turn me off.

The Episode is out on Youtube.

When there is a slight timeskip and they still don't show them. lol. I need more Build Fighters

IBO dub is ok. I don't know if season 2 has been dubbed yet.

Brother finished 00 S2. His shift from "this series is pretty good" to "why was everything so stupid" was pretty fast and fun to see.
