Rockstar Games Announces 4 New Versions of L.A. Noire coming November 14, 2017

Did I miss my chance to post butwhy.gif?

I bounced off this game really hard. I admire what it was trying to do, but it had a few really fatal flaws that ruined the experience.

Nice. I have a bit of a weak spot for L.A. Noire. The game admittedly feels a bit stitched together and inconsistent, especially the combat and open world elements. But the detective elements were interesting, even if they could have been better executed. And the writing was excellent.

The game felt like a real breath of fresh air in the AAA-space of 2011.

for the switch? I am shook. ninty better do some proper marketing and not give rockstar an excuse to ignore the platform in the future.

Switch is apparently outsourced port of the PC version.

Remaster for PS4/XB1 done in-house by a small team. No direction on who did the VR stuff.

PC version will not be updated.
Man its fascinating how easy rockstar finds to ignore pc whenever they please even in the current market . Like im not even mad, just genuinely curious.

The game had like 5 minutes of shooting iirc

Unless I'm really misremembering my time with the game, it actually has quite a bit of shooting, especially since the last third of the game is way more action set-piece driven than the rest of the game. Hell, the last little bit of the game doesn't even have any investigation stuff to speak of and is pretty much just shooting mooks.

Man, this will be the first Rockstar game on a Nintendo platform since march 2009, when Chinatown Wars released.

Before that Bully Scholarship Edition in March 2008.

LA Noire got a PC version ages ago and, apart from an easily-removed 30fps cap, it was a pretty damn good port job.

Its not bad, but what about new enhancement?
L.A. Noire for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One delivers the complete original game and all additional downloadable content with a range of technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more.

How in God's name does gesture control add to the gameplay? "Oh my God, let me flick my joycon to flip my notepad."

That's totally a worthy gameplay feature to call it the definitive version.
It's what kids all clamor for when the scream about immersion. Applied right, hell, even just gyro camera controls is better than what's currently offered for the hd twins. This game is all about the total package, from the amazing title screen music, to the ability to allow your ai partner to drive you to each location. Well designed gesture controls can change a games identity, like how w101 goes from Bayo clone with fighting inputs to a Sentai Ranger simulator when using the touch screen.

The only big shooting segments I remember is the construction site and the sewers near the end.

Oh, wow. Surprised it's coming this early. Can't wait to get it for Switch. Never got around to playing this one. Hope Rockstar gets around to porting GTAV too.

Cool, but why? The shooting/on foot gameplay would need significant tweaks to not feel outdated in this day and age.

So if its going to be 4K on the X/Pro, are they going to have higher res face textures? Playing the PC version at high res on a modern PC the faces were kinda blurry looking.

Though I guess that would balloon the size even higher since those face textures is why the game size was so huge in the first place.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Probably Mario & Sonic Winter Olympic games for November? The last winter game was released November 8, 2013.

I think they would have announced that already if it was this game...and those games are published by Sega i think and they are already releasing Sonic Forces this Holiday season.

Well...we will just have to wait...maybe they will just drop XB2 in November.

We still dont have a X2 date though this one probably goes to December.

True...guess we will have to wait for the next Direct.

there's an entire case in homicide which is just you getting from location to location to chase/shoot some guys

after the second desk most cases have shootouts as well including some which made no sense to

Okay so, I know very little about game development, but how hard would it be to port the PC version of Max Payne 3 to the PS4/XB1?

How genuine is the detective portion of this game? Are we talking Sherlock Holmes: Crime & Punishment or something worse?

Much, much, much worse. It's not a detective game.

You go to a crime scene and you look for three "clues" that have sparkling edges, and you hit "A" on them, which causes your character to pick it up and talk about it. Every crime scene has 3 clues. If you "find" all three clues then it unlocks certain dialog choices in each mission. "Finding" clues literally comes down to walking around in a circle pressing "A" on items that are shimmering on the ground.

Here's what's makes it even worse.

There's tons of plain junk laying around on the ground in each crime scene that you can pick up, which is supposed to make you -- the player -- use your skills of detective deduction to figure out something, but it's all arbitrary. But it's all arbitrary and stupid. In an early mission (this isn't a spoiler, it's incredibly stupid and pointless), your character "finds" a match book and that leads him to go to another locale which eventually helps pinpoint the crook. This is treated as a big "Aha!" moment in the game. But... in every other mission as the game goes on, match books are just normal junk strewn around a crime scene, and the character scolds the player for 'wasting his time' or whatever on pointless non-clues for the rest of the game. So, in one mission, a matchbook is a major aha! moement in solving a caper, and yet, for the rest of the game, matchbooks are just random junk.

So, the result is, you walk around a crime scene aimlessly clicking "A" on everything. 90% of the time it's just junk and Cole, the cop, talks to himself about wasting time and not figuring out the mystery. And then 10% of the time a random piece of junk will trigger a unique dialog that's a clue to solving the mystery.

It's a shitty game. I could rant about it much longer. First 2 crimes are pretty good, then yhou realize the rest is junk. The game world is pretty, but empty, with really bad street design and nothing to do.

I wonder how they'd work HD Rumble into the game. I can totally see it working for switch(which would be an insane port now that I think about it) but not LA Noire. Anyone got any idea what the rumble would be used for.

HD Rumble will prob be used for shooting feedback, fist fights you get in, and in detective sections there was a rumble when you discovered something

I'm not sure which is a weirder "pop the game card into my new Nintendo handheld" experience, this or Skyrim.

Don't see how they would do that since they probably would have to re-record actors which is not going to happen for these ports.

With all these third party games coming in November, I wonder if we will get a third party direct sometime near the end of October or the beginning of November.

I have yet to play any games that felt improved because of gyro camera controls.

I really enjoyed LA Noire to be honest. I will definitely get this on the Switch.

There were some dumb parts but overall I liked it.
