Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

I know most people here are on Ultros, but has anyone experience with EU server Louisoux? Thinking about transferring there since it's still free.
How is the population doing, since this is a rather new server?

I made a new character on Louisoix for that sweet, sweet fifteen days extra gametime, and the population in Louisoix is huge. Even a few weeks ago, I had queues on trying to log in. Seems like a fine world to join for population, but I can't speak for its raid scene or the health of its markets from experience.

Omega had a notable number of migrants from Balmung, but Louisoix seems to have developed...more okay.

Any drg mains here want to compare single hit damage? So far, i've hit a 23k Full Thrust with dhit and crit activating. Our comp is SCH/WHM so we didn't have balance. I've only hit that once. Most of my hits do 15k to 19.5k if I get crit and dhit. I'm guessing dhit has degrees of activation for that level of variance to occur.

Edit: i'm at i333 at the moment. Is this standard damage levels? My melds are skewed heavily towards dhit.

My max FT DCrit was 22kish at i328. I'm lacking a lot of crit, however, and we have an AST. My average is around 18k.

I've seen like 21-23k? Depends on what buffs are up at the time. Full Thrust potency buff in SB was huge, 80 potency increase? Yes please.

also finally making it so you don't need to push one button in lower level dungeons

I think I might've seen one close to 25k in a dog farm with NIN, RDM MNK and SCH.

What's the best way to find a house for sale? Just check the residential districts at the aetheryte for each of the main towns daily and hope you get lucky? How often do houses become available?

Also when Shirogane comes out with people ditch their old houses to move there aka opening up availability in the older housing areas? Or will it be better to try for a place in Shirogane day 1? Don't really care where it is, but I'm at the point where I want to buy a house in the game and start decorating.

It's not a very big accomplishment, but I finally finished all the pre-Heavensward content and finally made it to Ishgard! I can't wait to start the main Heavensward content after seeing how the 2.5 patch questline ended.

The main ARR questline I thought was okay but nothing special, and the early post 2.0 quests were a total bore, but oh boy did things really heat up near the end. I think my enjoyment really began with the introduction of Iceheart and Shiva and continued to rise through the betrayal and Nanamo's assassination. I'm starting to see why people have said the story of FFXIV is really good and I can't wait to get to Heavensward proper. Also seeing Tataru cry was the saddest thing I've seen.

I've already come to terms with having to watch crucial cutscenes at the inn when running dungeons because of people just speedrunning. Finished the MSQ for ARR earlier today and did the last 2 dungeons back to back, then went to the inn and I couldn't watch the final cutscenes there???

I would feel bummed and cheated that I spent so much time grinding and toiling through the MSQ and then have to watch the most important cutscenes on Youtube. Please tell me there's a way to watch it in-game with my character. Having to watch them seperately from the actual level is saddening enough.

The UI for the inn thing is a mess but they're there. Make sure to click all the tabs and what not, I remember it being a pain to find back when I did it many years ago. It's not in the default list, it's in another list.

Wait till 4.1 and try to buy one in Shirogane. If you aren't lucky, surely a few spots will open in the older areas due to FCs transferring.

I thought this was a post that time traveled from Stormblood launch, but then I realized you actually have problems with the instance itself being hard rather than the legendary server problem. Hahaha.

My advice would be to get buffs from food if you need it, and focus on clearing the adds on the left and right before going after the mech in the middle. The more NPCs you free up by clearing adds the better. When more adds show up during the battle clear them. When the bombs show up, lure them to a top left or right corner so they don't hurt the NPCs.

Once you get into your room it should be on the desk table. From there you pick whatever questline you want to watch cutscenes in and select which one you want to watch. There's no way to tell which cutscene is which though since you select them via a sliding bar.

The cutscenes for the Castrum and Praetorium are mostly under the dungeons section in the Unending Journey.

Yeah, go to the main aetheryte in each city and cycle through the housing districts. You may occasionally see one for sale because someone got their house demolished for inactivity. Xtech alone seems to lose one house a week.

And also yeah, when Shirogane opens if people move there, it will demolish their old house. So lots of plots should open up one way or another. If you have your heart set on Shirogane then I would log on right at the scheduled maintenance ending time for 4.1 and try to grab a plot. If you want a plot in one of the other districts you'll probably have a bit more time but I would wait too long.

I would hold off on buying a house until Shirogane. With people likely to move, it's going to open up housing in all the districts, so find a district you like.

If you're absolutely set on getting one asap, check the main aetheryte in each city a few times a day. You can take a peek at all the housing wards in the city. If there's not a name listed by a housing plot, it will have the price. Then just go there and buy.

Thanks. Plus I read go after the spiders first, then attack the big armor thing. I guess don't go after the human's. I was going after their spell casters, who seem to have a shit ton of health.

Louisoix suffers a bit from early economy (and still MB is a bit anemic due to the server being new) but it's certainly populated. Something something EU too many people not enough servers something

I had to remove my security token because changing phone and whatnot. It went through alright, but they decided that it was better to be safe than sorry and deleted my whole account.
I was gonna jump in again after a long hiatus to check the game out.

So that sucked. I've opened another ticket so hopefully i'll get a response. Man if i've lost my game and character i'm gonna be bummed.

EDIT: nvm, i'm an idiot.
Well, somehow they sent the confirmation reset to a really similar email i also own, rather than the one with my games and such that i actually reset:ed.
Woops!

EDIT:
A question, it looks like the classes have changed since i played (back at the 2.0 relaunch), where you combined different classes to get a subclass. Is that not a thing anymore?
What happens with my character levels then? i've got a summoner and a bard max level i seem to recall, which was something like black mage, arcanist, archer and uh.. i wanna say that conjurer was there as well?
I'm guessing i'm retaining all of the levels and the sub classes?
Also one of the reasons i quit ffxiv was that since you had done all the questing during leveling up, it was nigh impossible to level up any other DOW classes, unless you wanted to just grind mobs for years. Is this still an issue?

Thanks to Irma, I can't watch Netflix while grinding the PotD for fear of having little battery on my laptop when the power goes it. Just fucking kill me you stupid hurricane.

Starting to get really bored with the game now lol. Been done with savage for like a month and my static never wants to attempt any parse/speed kills either (unless its V1 to grind creation lol), and parse/0 chest groups are near non-existent in PF on Primal, don't know if its the same on Aether or if we're just the bad/casual data center.

So I'm basically just logging in every tuesday to do my weekly clears. I would unsub but 4.1 is not too far away and I want the penis ship lol

Job system is still around, and you don't need to level a second class to 15 to get your job stone anymore, you just get it automatically ocne you reach level 30 in your base class (so MRD ---> WAR for example). The big change was cross-role actions. Every role (tank, healer, melee dps, ranged dps, etc.) has a specific pool of skills that you can choose several from. So no more cross-class fun runs in alliance raids.

Well, I suppose you could still do it but, but you cant pop B4B anymore while Mting as MRD :(.

i've been playing since beta of ARR, and i think i just got my 1st troll group or some shit
i was queuing duty roulette expert and got ala mhigo
the other 3 literally kept doing wall to wall big pulls and failing, like as in 3-4 times doing the same thing
i left after we beat the 1st boss when they start doing the same shit again

Thanks, so hows leveling up other classes work nowadays? Since there's been expansions released i assume the max level have gone up. Can you still level up like all DOW through questing/dungeons at all? Or are you screwed once you've done the quests on your "main" class and want to switch? I have absolutely zero interest in getting the crafting classes leveled. So is it possible to support your character with gil for example? Not into doing the whole auction house thing really either. Just questing and raiding. This was an issue back in 2.0 which also were one of the reasons i quit.

You can go through dungeons (really the fastest way for healers/tanks as they have super short queue times) but there is also the Palace of the Dead, a rougelike dungeon thing where you go through sets of 10 floors where outside gear doesn't matter and you level up armour and weapon by opening silver chests. Once you clear floor 50 you can start from floor 51-60 which provides the best exp per hour (a run takes around 10 mins) for DPS classes up to lvl60. From 60-70 it might still be the best time wise. Before it was nerfed PVP from 60-70 was the best but now you only get the good exp for coming first in frontlines and that isn't something you can get consistently enough to make it worth it over POTD.

Neat, i watched some youtube videos so it looks like it's all sorted!
One last thing, converting your account to steam is stupid, right? I remember there being some issues regarding the steam client but i can't remember what? Not sure if you even can convert it. It's no biggie, just a minor annoyance. Do you get any game time when buying the expansions btw? What's the cheapest way?

I wouldn't really say having the game on Steam is stupid as it's not that different than the standalone client. The one downside I would say is that you're stuck with buying the current and all future expansions off the Steam store, which could prevent you from getting them cheaper somewhere else. You can still pay for your sub or buy anything else through the Mog Station if you don't want to use your Steam wallet funds. Even if Steam goes down for some reason, or if you're offline in Steam, you can still play by just going to the install location and opening the launcher from there. Personally I have the Steam version as I was gifted the base game on it and I haven't had any bad experiences with it so far.

I just unlocked NIN and I'm trying to make sense of it. I've got starting with Huton > Hide > Suiton down but then I'm not sure what to do. I've seen this opener start with Shadow Fang after those initial three which doesn't make sense to me since it won't get the combo effect. So far I've done the initial three, then Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Trick Attack > Duality Aeolian Edge > Assassinate. I've used this to kill enemies on floor 51 of PotD. I'm at a loss for everything else though. I'm not sure where in my combo I should use ninjutsu. From what I understand, Doton can be used at the start of a long mob fight. I guess that would mean using Doton instead of Suiton in my rotation but then that means no Trick Attack. But I guess I can do Huton > Hide > Suiton > Kassatsu > Doton to remedy that. I'm still lost everywhere else though. I'm not sure when to use Raiton or Katon or Hyoton or Fuma Shuriken. Then there's the frog and all that other stuff past level 60. It's a lot and it's confusing.

Just finished the Dongeon lv 67.

Damn if i didn't see it coming miles away ... you even give me some flashback to remind me that you forshadowed his death

Well it was a good dongeon , i guess i'm entering the final arc

It's actually really simple once you get used to it.

I'm by far a ninja pro, but I think I'm okay at it. My 'general' opener to bosses and the alike looks something like this:

5v4FEyf.png

Suiton should hit the boss on pull. As a general rule you'll wanna keep shadow fang up always (also gives slashing buff) and you'll wanna put it up before trick attack.

You'll wanna use your ninjutsu on CD, so every 20 seconds. Every third should be a trick attack (unless you're holding for mechanics or speed runs). Unless your ping is amazing, you'll usually wanna use Fuma on single target (unless you have Kassatsu up, in which case Raiton is better IIRC). Katon is only good for 2+ enemies. NEVER use Hyoton. Refresh your Huton with an Armour Crush combo when there is 20-30 seconds remaining.

When you're just doing AoE on mobs, don't even worry about trick attack. Just Doton, Katon, and Death Blossom spam. Also if you don't have hate, you can actually Doton > Hide > Katon before the first tick of the Doton hits the mobs.

When you're level 70, you'll tend to want to use Ten Chi Jin as soon as possible, then Bhavacakra, then Hellfrog Medium (they all share a resource. It'll make sense when you get there). Of course this isn't a hard rule. Mechanics dictate a lot of this stuff).

I dunno if there is a way to make the account a steam account or whatnot, but I just recommend everyone buy the game outside of Steam. That way you can take advantage of non-Steam sales and the like, if you're on Steam then you are on Steam, no finding a deal on the latest expansion or anything.

Cheapest way to get up to date is to buy the complete collection which is the base game and both expansions for like, £30 (or the equivalent in dollars) or there abouts but if you have the base game you can get Stormblood for around £20 which also comes with Heavensward. If you have the base or base and HW then you get SB standalone.

Ok I like this rotation more. Is Fuma Shuriken a crit because of that Kassatsu? Why Fuma and not a Kaiton crit?
