Apple September Event 2017 |OT| A Top-Notch Keynote

Half baked shit is Apple's trademark move post Jobs. He would be embarrassed by this event.

I was hoping those leaks were unfinished prototypes because looking at the X and then my S8, design wise there is no competition. I think it's the black edges that throws the look off for me. It just looks cheap.

iPhone X starting from $1440 (11 495 SEK). Fuck our fucking HW prices in sweden.

$1 used to be 10 SEK usually (even if the dollar was much lower than 10 SEK like in 2007 when it was closes to 5 or 6)

But not anymore no.

Seems like they fixed the t mobile in store requirement for iup.

It let me see the pages rather than telling me to go in store.

I missed the good old day when a numbered Iphone was a new design and the S just a bump in specs. They got rid of the S and all new iterations looks similar...

I'm not particularly convinced the X is going to be a better daily driver than the now classic design. I'm thinking 8 for now and the X series a year or two later when they've figured things out.

Canadian pricing.

And this is why the 8 exists. So you can still feel special by purchasing a new toy this year.

It is so expensive that they do not even the full price at the first glance, but a financing options foremost which makes the phone more than 70€ more expensive lol

I expected way more from this.
And now people start saying that how apple invented facial unlock and wireless charging haha

"The future of the smart phone".

To announce the future of the smart phone they spend the large part on Animoji. What about this camera shows the future? Edge to edge has been done. FaceID has been done before, but I'm sure Apple will be leagues above the competition on this part. But still. And that at 999. I have no idea what makes this a futuristic phone, worthy of that price tag.

Did they get completely blinde sided by Samsung and the S8? But refused to change their marketing approach and presentation?

At this point I'm more interested in the 8. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see and use the 8 in person. But I honestly don't get it. And I'm a bit sad, I was super excited to have my mind blown by Apple and the X. :(

Yeah agreed. I find the S8 more 'futuristic'.

This tired old pebble design and that thick bezel width is so ugly to me. Not impressed when ive seen what other manufacturers can do. But hey, at least my 6 remains relevant. People will think it's an 8, lol.

They kinda sold me on Faceid though. Barring actual reviews of it, I think I'd be willing to part with touchid sometime in the future.

I honestly dont' see the appeal of the X with that insane price premium. And I say that as someone who has historically been willing to overpay to have the latest and greatest. The X is just too much money for a phone and not enough benefit. Next year's 8/X hybrid should be awesome though.

Btw, multitasking is so simple and beautiful. Getting back to the homescreen is easy as fuck, works flawlessly. Android is behind now and its going to be hard to implement something similar because the system is based on having at least the BACK and HOME buttons (physical or software).

Thank goodness for custom launchers. I expect Nova Launcher to have similar gestures within a month lol.

iPhone 8 Plus 256GB $949
iPhone X 64GB $999

who the hell is going to buy an iPhone 8 Plus?

If I had to I'd get the 8plus over the X as I consider touch ID and more storage for less money to be more attractive than OLED

figured what out? lol

or is this another "touchid and headphone jack" whine?

I wouldn't say it's whining. Waiting for revision for features to get fleshed out is a smart move. Especially if you have a iphone 7. Nothing on ios 11 that it can't handle.

Personally I'm waiting for touch ID to be integrated in the screen next year. If not oh well. But I'm waiting.

Mobile gaming (good old gacha ones) on the X. How accurate will my swiping be? Will it pop me to the home screen in the middle of my PAD combo? Will moving my FEH units from the bottom of the screen kick me out of the game?

I want to upgrade phone this year. Google I/O come sooner

Yeah, I might keep my 6s Plus a bit more. I'd love to upgrade the camera on it but at this point it's just not worth it. This would be the first time I could upgrade an iPhone where I might not. Just underwhelmed overall and feel like I'd be paying a huge price to downgrade. Not into the Face ID stuff at all and the iPhone X is way too expensive anyway. Getting an iPhone 8 feels weird now because you're still spending a shit-ton but not even getting the "best" out there. Don't really care about wireless charging until it's more prevalent in the outside world and while I'm not someone that absolutely needs a headphone jack it still feels odd to upgrade and get some less features. If the upgrade was more substantial then maybe.

I dunno. Apple's really underwhelmed me lately. Emphasis on animojis is kind of hilarious. I actually got a touchbar MacBook pro and honestly I've used that touchbar more for emojis than anything else. It's useless so far.

Yeah, I was expecting better hardware in the X. It really makes the 8 plus look like the real winner in my opinion. Plus, the late release date is going to be a deal breaker for all the people on annual upgrade plans who aren't going to want to waste another couple months making payments waiting to upgrade.

I'm sure Apple is fine with people preferring the 8 to the X. The X (which is severely supply constrained) is going to sell out regardless.

What's the difference between 8+ and X?

8+: 5.5" IPS LCD display + home button, $799
X: 5.8" (5.15" for 16:9 content) OLED display + FaceID, $999

The X looks amazing, especially after the incremental steps that were the 6s and 7; I’ll probably miss Touch ID though.

The biggest news for me was free 4k movie updates, glad I never really started buying UHD Blurays.

The edges look cool but are lame, and this packs way more advanced silicon. I think it's very worth waiting for reviews

Pretty disappointed about the camera difference between the 8 plus and the X. Wider aperture and OIS on the telephoto on the X. Shame.

8+

Same processor as the X
Same GPU as the X
Same rear camera as the X
Same wireless charging as the X
Likely similar battery life as the X since they didn't mention anything
TouchID > FaceID (although TouchID + FaceID would be better)
Extra color

Sounds like a winner to me.

And a screen to body ratio from 2014. Why would anybody buy this in 2017?
