Apple September Event 2017 |OT| A Top-Notch Keynote

It's becoming pretty clear that Apple is primarily interested in chasing a younger audience easily impressed with flashy useless features.
The MBP Touch Bar was the first indication, Animoji seals the deal.

I mean, the iPhone 8 seems DOA. Either people are going to want to splurge on the X or save their pennies with the 7. I imagine Apple will make buying the 7 an exercise in futility to compensate.

Yep. Why would anyone upgrade from a 7 to an 8?

On that, what is the deal for people on the Apple Upgrade program? Do they get an X or an 8

Can’t wait to see the hands on with the phone. I’m sure the X is beautiful in person.

I was hoping for the beginning of Oct. Oh well.

This really is the first year I haven't felt compelled to upgrade from the previous year's model (7 Plus in this case).

The X looks great and I love OLED HDR screens, but I was hoping it would have the higher refresh rate.

Pending actual impressions, the lack of Touch ID is a deal breaker for me.

Hopefully those two things will be part of next year's device.

lol more than 1100€ in Spain.
I can tell you right now. No one will buy it (well, not really, but if right now android dominates iphones, I can tell you that price won't do it any favors)

X is the form factor + screen real estate I want but the notch looks atrocious :(

...Good thing I can't afford an iPhone this year anyway XD Gotta have to stick to my 6S for another year (or two).

Also, is there anybody else here who's excited about the camera and portrait lighting options?

It's crazy how they managed to introduce two new high end products, and ruin them both with inexplicable and unnecessary aesthetic designs. Why does the Apple Watch have that hideous red dot? Why does the iPhone X have a notch cut out of the screen?

This is why I only upgrade every two years. Never been worth it to get a new iPhone every year.

As someone with a touchbar MBP I agree.

They're being really weird with these new technologies. Younger audience can't fucking afford the newest best MacBook pro or iPhone. They should really have started with big enthusiast market uses of this tech until the touchbar and faceID were finally in the lower ends of their MacBooks and iPhones. Then emphasize emojis and shit for them.

I think something that really needs to be talked about is RAM. Apple has been skimping on RAM for years (don't give me the iOS is optimized, blah blah shit please). Please don't tell me the 8 has 2GB like the 7 and 8 plus and X only have 3 like the 7 plus.

If so that's bullshit.

iPhone 8 at 3 GB, 8 plus at 4Gb and X at 6GB would be acceptable.
