looks neat

kind of surprised theres yet another peripheral but I guess that's how this will function.
I hope there's enough cards because even in that video alone the music got old, I tried skipping forward trough the entire thing after watching ~20 minutes but it didnt seem to change much. the first 5 minutes or so were full of variation though so maybe I just need to see more.

I was freakin impatiant as shit though through the start because i just wanted to see them play and the explanation of what they were doing didn't really seem to help much, or at least not at the pace I would have liked, but that's on me haha. really awesome to see Jon there, worked with him in the past, glad he's still at HMX

Gameplay rules:
V4V2Qd6.png

They also did a stream specifically to address scoring and gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7yDFX_GCKo&t=6s

In addition, they did a stream with minimal talking to show off the music:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/161693977

... As well as streams to talk about advanced deck-building:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/159905127
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/166997408

If you have any interest at all in the game, the other videos are decent too. The streams are clearly done for marketing reasons but eventually they answer all the lingering questions people want to know. They very deliberately tease details very sparingly to retain viewers.
https://www.twitch.tv/harmonix/videos/all

Disclaimer: I'm heavily biased considering I've been catching almost all the streams live and getting invested in chat. Sad thing is even I'm not likely to buy it at full price.

I'm going to be real and say this game lives and dies by how much you are willing to invest in it (its very much like Rock Band in that regard). The base game is great, but having the same 4 playlists would get incredibly boring pretty quick. It definetly needs at least another 3 or 4 playlists purchased as then you get the massive diversity and at that point you can use the games awesome deck builder properly,

I think that is going to be the ultimate crux that gives us to a season 2 card release.

100 doesn't sound all that horrible. The way some of you were talking about the price, I expected this to be, like, 150-200$.

150$-200$ for a RFID reader with blue tooth? Don't get me wrong this seems like a blast to play but 60$-80$ seems like a better starting price than 100$

It's an RFID reader that can read two whole decks of cards simultaneously. This means it's a bit more powerful than the RFID tech used for Amiibo or toys-to-life figurines, which maybe support reading up 3 tags at once that have to be in direct contact with the radio transmitter.

Also, you know, music licensing.

Played this at PAX twice (dragged a big group the second time) and not only did I love it (knew I would!), but everyone else I brought loved it too! And they enjoy my Rock Band setup but we’re never really THAT into it- they much prefer Rocksmith for music, or Jackbox for parties- so I was really pleasantly surprised that I will, in fact, have a group to play with in a few weeks!

This game seems like a ton of fun, glad to see Harmonix is staying creative.

I NEED that Transformers card, but all the prices for it on eBay are pretty outrageous.

Welp, a friend came back from PAX with a Transformers card for me... so I caved and used some Amazon gift cards to preorder. It’s still showing a November 1st release date on there though, it should change in time for the game to arrive around release though right?

Now imagine living in Europe, with no actual chance of ever getting one of these really cool special cards ever :/

Speaking of, still no game on amazon.de >:/
Do you guys think this game would be still fun if you only have an Android phone, and no iPad or other pad?

should be fine.

Well the playlist packs I ordered from Walmart.com that said delivery by Sep 7 have been updated to Sep 21. They are relisted on the site but some still say "ships by Sep 4" even though that was two days ago lol. Walmart's website is so shitty, like unbelievably shitty. I canceled them all, will just try my luck in stores.

I posted earlier that im getting this at gamestop, but does anyone know if gamestop will be carrying these?

Right before all the preorders started to go up GameStop was listed as a site that hey would be selling through on the official page.

Since then it has been removed. Probably due to them not having a preorder up.

Long winded answer to say maybe...

Can we have niche-focused packs for the love of God, especially if this is a deck building game as opposed to everybody drawing from everything.

Lol, well i will have to flip my GS credit into Amazon cash or something, the thing is that i like my board games to have pristine boxes, and i've heard that amazon for some reason is poor with that kind of products.

One of the secret bonus cards got leaked by one of kotaku editors.

Going to leave it in link form so as to not spoil it for people who want to turn the card over in thier pack on launch day

Excited to see what the other secret cards are now.

edit : this is thought to be from the Astro playlist The other three available at launch (derby mirrors and ouroboros) are not revealed yet.

I'm not sure wherer you're getting this, but having played this game in person back at E3, the unit is only ever reading five cards—the ones in active play—not the decks that are in use at any time.

If you use the deck builder the unit can see tons of cards in a stack and tell what they are. It's also how it picks out your logo at the start by reading all the cards it can and randomly picking a logo to use.

The limits seem to be around 10 to 15 cards per slot before the game actually tells you to remove some cards for accuracy.

Also for normal play you can stack cards over each other so even then though it is only reading the 5 cards, it has to be able to tell what card is on top which means it needs to know the bottom as well to differentiate it.

Oh, OK. Sold.

(Anyone know where I might be able to get the cards internationally?)

Ack, this looks really cool and I want it now. But, I'm trying not to spend so much money on games these days, and truthfully, I'd probably only use this for a week... Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas.

Ah, okay. I was thinking the comment was in regards to simply recognizing the decks that are in play at any one time just by them sitting near, which it obviously can't do. So I had a different usage case in mind.

I wonder if the units they had at E3 weren't able to do that at that point. I don't remember us ever stacking cards, and we had to always make it a point to take one card off before replacing it with another.

when they demoed it on stream they were putting cards on top of each other

Yeah on the Twitch stream it counted how many cards you had in the deck when you registered it before you started playing.

I assume to prevent "cheating" or something?

Early builds of the game had a counter but honestly it was always a bit buggy with 30 cards in a stack so they took that out of future builds. on a more current stream they said the limit is 10 - 12 reliable. More then enough for most games though.

So the deck limit is just 12 cards now? I remember that stream said the score cap was 15 or 20, but with 12 cards I assume that went down too.

What?? Only 12 cards for your whole deck? That seems extremely low :/. I'm mainly gonna get this just to mix up and create music, but if I did wanna play a competitive mode, 12 cards just doesn't seem like a lot to me. I'll have to play to find out I guess.

Harmonix continuing their tradition of screwing over European fans with new cool IPs. Or does this have an European date that is simultaneous or close to the NA release?

Also, AA batteries? FFS, why not a rechargeable battery? I hope you can at least just plug this in so one doesn't need to always have (charged) AA batteries around.

No I am strictly talking about the NFC sensors in each of the 5 slots. The card games rules haven't changed. You still use 30 cards. I am only speaking on how many cards you can stack up on the board before the game stops reliably being able to read your cards and recommends you take some off the offending slot.
