Growing up, I knew a lot of dudes in high-school who talked like this. It wasn't like they were saying stuff like this every other word but you definitely heard it.

These dudes were ignorant as hell, but they were also children.

This dude is a grown adult who should know better. Grow up.

I have adult friends that do this too, the "it's just a word!!" Crowds have really drawn a lot of young adults and it's really upsetting.

Educate my ignorance gaf.

Why can black people like rappers and comedians use n..... They werent alive during the times when this word was used against slaves right? So isnt it awful to use it for them too?

In this video pewdiepie was going to say "my n...." as in "my friend". You hear that from black people in pop culture. Shouldnt they stop that too?

What is wrong with saying "dude"? It's a much healthier, less racist word.

I think they use it as empowerment because they are proud of being "niggers". They've suffered and still suffer nowadays the discrimination. "They weren't alive during slavery times", you say that like things have changed. Sure thing black people can vote now, but this doesn't change the fact that there's still a lot of racist cunts who still cares about race, and they like to feel superior because they've been born white. So black people can use the word "nigger" proudly or whatever the fuck they want, being straight.

I know pewdiepie could use it as "my friend", but the point is, he didn't use it at first as a positive thing. He used it as a racial slur, he apologized, and he then continued to use it as a racial slur.

My point is, is it that hard to use "dude", "boi", "pal", "man", "my friend", instead of "nigger"? Why the fuck would you want to use that word?

Why did this need a thread? Why are you giving a known racist more exposure? I literally never ever come across this dumb ass dude in my daily internet perusings, except for on here. It's really sad how many people follow him, but leave it at that. CNN doesn't run a story every time David Duke says something racist. We know.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL using Urban Dictionary to back up your argument. Read actual history behind the word.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_(pejorative)

Cracker, sometimes white cracker or "cracka", is a usually derogatory and/or offensive term for white people,[1] especially poor rural whites in the Southern United States.

I mean really. This is common knowledge. The meaning of a word is given by it's understanding in culture. Words change. They don't always mean the same thing as how they started. This is how it is to be understood. If it's not meant to be offensive, why did that poster use it in such a way? It was obviously meant to be offensive based on that person's race. That's all I'm saying. Racism and being offensive towards people needs to be stamped out wherever it exists. I really can't explain it any better so I'll leave it at that.

I can't tell whether this is sarcasm or feigned ignorance. Because it sure as hell can't be a legit question

Are you really using Urban Dictionary?...

Of course dude, you use UrbanDictionary for urban words!

Because the times he's said it, it's been in anger, and most certainly in no way was meant to be implied that the person was his friend.

Not sure why making statements about people based just on their ethnicity is a one way street.
I'm white and I don't a damn about the word 'cracker'(what is that even supposed to mean?), however simply the fact that it is meant to be offensive specifically to a certain ethnicity should at least be enough to maybe not use it on gaf if you want a somewhat respectful tone of discussion
I mean, this is under the assumption that poster was even black.

So he didn't say it.

I don't see why he should be banned at all.

He already said it. Said people watching didn't care anyway, issued an "apology" and now nearly said it again, laughing it off as if it doesn't matter.

That's why people are annoyed, because this false motherfucker is getting off free despite being an asshole.

You said, and I FUCKING QUOTE, 'It's the same thing as using the N word.'

You're done here. Step aside.

How old are you? You think the use of the word stopped when slavery stopped?
This is satire right? No one is that naive.

Because Pewdiepie is to the world the most known figure in gaming. When he does things like this it makes headlines at CNN, BBC, Guardian, etc, etc. So I'd say it is news worthy.

If you believe nobody should use this word, then regardless of whether or not black people use it. You should still be offended at PDP's use of it.

Well, until he slips up, that's when yeah. Something should happen. But until then, I don't see why he should be, even if people are annoyed.

Considering the amount of games PewDiePie has covered, you will have a very very tiny list of games available to you.

I'm not worried about going through his entire catalogue. I'm more interested in what developers are going to be doing now he's finally crossed that line with racism and seemingly won't stop.

Hopefully DMCAs will ruin this fucker's livelihood. I'll be happy to see another Adpocalapyse. I hope fuckers like him have their shit taken down. I hope he is condemned by the industry and cut out. It's the right thing to do, and I'll be keeping an eye out for companies that are stepping up to do it.

What will you be doing though, since you're so interested in how I spend my money?

V and b are close sounds. Given the "nebba" thing above, his history, and his "I censored myself," I think that "nebba" thing is what he is going for. Not going to watch, but that's what it sounds like from the information you all are sharing.

Tbh I read these threads and I'm glad that I'm not plugged in to the wider internet. Really fucking glad. But it is also just terrifying to consider the power of suggestion trolls and bigoted opinion setters have through the Internet. They don't determine our culture and our minds but they do encourage and pull them in disgusting ways.

I hope these guys aren't popular if/when I have kids.

If it wasn't abundantly clear before, the word is clearly in his 'used often' section of his lexicon. Man's a lost cause.

To be honest, I'm surprised it only took him a few days. Didn't think he was that stupid.

Black people are allowed to reclaim words used against them by their oppressors. Just like gays reclaimed fag, homo, etc. The person who the word is targeted at has free rain to decide how they want to tackle the word.

Dude, the guy is chuckling as he makes a victory lap about how he can get away with it by joking about it on the sly.

He isn't fooling nobody.

It's ok he'll just "apologize" and everything will be ok, as usual.

Shouldn't he be banned from streaming sites already considering he's spreading hate speech over and over? Or is he too white and famous for that to happen? What a sad world.

Like I said, he already "slipped up", as you put it. He's said it, it's a done deal, there's video.

So what do you think should happen now that we've got that detail cleared up?

Don't get me wrong, pdp is a racist piece of shit, but OP is intentionally misleading with that title.

"PDP nearly says N-word a 4th time, laughs it off."

Just as outrage inducing, and doesn't incorrectly imply he actually said it.

Look, I'd like to think we're all above calling people crackers (I think it's clear that poster was being facetious) but let's not mistake what we're talking about. It's a pejorative term that equates being a white person with slave ownership -- a position of privilege and authority. Being Canadian and not a slave owner (or, by today's standards, wealthy) I think it would be a ridiculous thing for someone to call me but I wouldn't be especially hurt by it. It may be meant to insult, but it's hardly degrading.

So yes, it's racist, sure, and we should keep this discourse above casual racism, but let's not pretend that racism doesn't come in varying degrees.

He got flack for it, apologized, and we moved on.

So until he does it again,

nothing should happen.
