PGW Predictions

- Wild update - Either that or it's being postponed/cancelled as the director is involved in Beyond Good and Evil 2.
- Dreams - This will have a big update, possibly including a 2018 release confirmation. It's been a fair while since it was first announced.
- Detroit trailer
- GT Sport - Post launch trailer
- Price drop for Slim and Pro PS4. Not a big drop but enough for a bit of extra buzz into the holidays.
- Final trailers for Battlefront 2, Call Of Duty.

PSX is where the bigger first party announcements will be made, there'll at least be 1 new game revealed.

Japan Studio has released three internally developed games (TLG, Gravity Rush 2, Knack II) and two collaborative games (Everybody's Golf, Tomorrow Children) all in the past 12 months.

I'm bummed that they didn't announce anything new either but their production is more than fine.

In a recent IGN interview Shu said that Japan Studio has several games in development. Considering how Knack just released, I doubt they were gonna open up about anything at the moment. We'll probably know more about a new project or two at PSX or later next year.

I was a little bummed at the lack of Japan Studio stuff tho. They're my favorite Sony devs, so I'm ready for anything they pump out.

If that game is even still in production. Now that Michel Ancel got the green light from Ubi to do BG&E2, I have to assume that's his priority and not Wild.

Wild is still in production. Originally they were going to post more info about the game but Sony wanted them to save stuff for a surprise. My guess we might see it at PSX this year.

Shinobi mentioned that SP's reveal could either be at E3 o at PSX. TLOU2 being announced at PSX last year confirms to me that it is not just a "B-tier conference," so I'm going in expecting SP's game to be there.

Except Sony wanted to announce TLOU2 at E3, Naughty Dog were the ones who insisted on announcing it at PSX and they had the clout to make that happen.

I think people are hyping PSX up way too much. I'd suggest setting expectations in line with PSX 2014 and PSX 2015. Good shows but not amazing ones like PSX 2016.

How much is Beyond Good and Evil interfering with WilD? :(

While Ancel may be working on both games, it's not like he's the only person working away on them. They're still being developed by two different studios, so I doubt it'll impact WiLD that much.

If WiLD appears anywhere it'll be at PGW.

Rockstar don't give a fuck. They'll show/announce things on their own time.

Not even expecting that tbh

I think they showed TLOU 2 too early but SP seems possible. Show a tease at PSX 2017, full reveal E3 2018, release date PSX 2018, out 2019.

They've been cooking cooking for quite a while, curious too see what they've come up with.

I mean, Sony did say they held back exclusive announcements from E3 this year, so I'm expecting quite a bit at PSX now.

Especially since TGS didn't yield anything from 1st-party studios.

The only first party studios unaccounted for are Sony San Diego (MLB duh, but still), Sony Japan and Sucker Punch. Sony Japan just released a few games and Sucker Punch is working on an ambitious new IP.

A lack of first party titles would partially be because we already know what most are doing.

I think third party will carry more of the weight in upcoming shows.

On the top of my head, guesses for PGW/PSX...

PGW:
- WILD update. ( if not updated, it'll be no longer a Sony project )
- Dreams update.
- Horizon DLC dated.
- 1 AA game announcement.
- 2 or 3 PSVR game announcements.

PSX:
- TLOU2 gameplay reveal.
- Sucker Punch reveal.
- GoW dated.
- 1 or 2 AA/remaster announcement.
- 1 or 2 PSVR game announcement.

PSX for GoW date seem a little late. Usually we get date like 5-6 months before release, I'm guessing PGW for date unless it's a May release.

You forgot Detroit release date reveal at PGW.

Also I think PSX will have many dates since Shawn Layden said that all announced 2018 games are early 2018.

Pretty sure they'll show more Spidey gameplay with more freedom and faster swinging to address concerns.

I hope Sony help/take over the development of WILD if Ancel is too busy with BG&E2. I want that game ASAP!

God of War is late February at the earliest and mid March more likely. 2 1/2 months is plenty of time to announce a date before release. Wouldn't be shocked to see them announce one at PGW though.

This 100%.

I'm expecting a long gameplay video and the release date for God of War. My guess is March 27th. Another gameplay video of Detroit: Become Human (im expecting a new gameplay video and release date at PGW) with the release date being shown at the end for those who may not know after PGW. I'm guessing mid to late April. Shadow of the Colossus remake will also be dated and released in June.

Also expecting a huge gameplay video blowout for Days Gone and Spider Man. No release date for either unless the release date is before E3 2018. I'm guessing no. I'm expecting Spider Man in the summer and Days Gone in September/October 2018.

I'm not expecting TLOU Part II, Death Stranding, REmake 2, Shenmue III or Sucker Punch's new IP at PSX. What I am expecting is a few short gameplay videos for the games being released in 2018 before E3 such as Monster Hunter World, Ni No Kuni 2, etc.

Those are my expectations and predictions as im not expecting anything megaton announcements or anything like that at either show. Either way, im still looking forward to both press conferences.

EDIT: I'm 100% expecting God of War to close out the conference at PSX.

Gonna go ahead and predict that Santa Monica announces a major PSVR game, like they're rumored to be working on, at PSX. Question is will it be PSVR only or compatible...

I think they're going to be front and center with GOW release date, floor demo and that new game.

They announced Lost Legacy, Parappa/Patapon/LocoRoco Remastered, Knack 2, WipEout Omega and TLOU2 at last years PSX. I'd wager this year will probably be similar.

Sony couldn't even match that at E3 and you think they'll do it at PSX? No offence but I think that's crazy.

My first party expectations are basically:

PGW
God of War trailer + release date
Detroit trailer + release window
Dreams gameplay demo + beta release date
WiLD gameplay demo
Horizon: Frozen Wilds gameplay demo
Shadow of the Colossus trailer + release date
1-2 VR announcements
1-2 AA/remaster announcements

PSX
God of War trailer
Spider-Man trailer + release date
Days Gone trailer + release window
MLB The Show 18 announcement
TLOU2 gameplay reveal
1-2 VR announcements
1-2 AA/remaster announcements

Horizon DLC is already dated and even has a preorder available on PSN. 6th November for Australia.

I think that E3 was equal or better than PSX 2016. The Lost Legacy was expected due to Uncharted 4's season pass/dlc. It being a standalone expansion was the surprise but I was still fully expecting the dlc/expansion to be shown. SOTC remake crushes Wipeout and the trilogy of those three other games. TLOUP2 was the only real surprise but at the same time, Sony didn't want to show it most likely because they already knew what was going to be shown at E3. TLOUP2 should have been saved for E3's ending.

I think PGW and PSX will be all about what's being released before E3 2018 with updated gameplay videos of Spider Man and Days Gone. I don't see a single major announcement whatsoever at either conference. Sony not wanting to show TLOUP2 at PSX last year was because A) they wanted to save it for E3 since they knew the conference wouldn't match/surpass the previous two, B) they don't want to officially announce/show games that are further out and C) they prefer to double down on what they've already shown and announced the previous two years.

Sho Yoshida even stated himself they withheld some things at E3 this year. I expect to see some new things. One might even be Sucker Punch's new IP.

Sony going a whole year without a major exclusive reveal would be laughable

Some of you lost your minds. Games devs are not freaking machines my lord.

Several already announced games are still not our and several came out this year but no they must announced more and more :/

The doom and gloom on gaf never ceases to amaze the hell outta me. It's not specific to any company it's generally just because of the ppl here. Sure know how to kill vibes and ruin shows

How have I lost my mind? Before E3 people here were saying others were crazy for expecting a tamer E3 after 2016

Microsoft deservedly gets clowned for the same thing

Microsofts a whole other beast, they're on their 3rd or 4th year without a major exclusive announcement.

Hidden Agenda was announced at Sonys E3 which is pretty huge coming off the back of Until Dawn as a spiritual successor which is highly regarded as one of PS4s best exclusives to date.

Sure, the SotC remake is better than any of the PSX remasters (and Wipeout wouldn't have even been at PSX if they'd had a Euro show last year), but who cares if we already expected an Uncharted 4 DLC announcement? A new standalone Uncharted featuring two established but unexpected characters was a big deal. The combination of that and TLOU2 alone made PSX 2016 one of the better shows in recent memory.

Unless Spider-Man's delayed, it's meant to be coming out in the first half of 2018, so we're going to have to get a release date at one of these two conferences. Same thing goes with God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. And then I think we're going to have to start hearing about release windows for games scheduled for the second half of 2018, which I assume will include Detroit and Days Gone.

As far as major announcements go, I'm not as pessimistic as you. I don't think we'll get any from Sony (outside of MLB obviously) but I absolutely think we'll get one or two from third parties. Capcom and Bandai Namco have both announced major games at PSX in previous years, so they're obvious candidates.

To be fair Layden said that they specifically focused on games coming out next year.

I'm sure they have a lot of stuff in a presentable state.

Sure but I don't see why they'd turn around and announce them at PSX all of a sudden then.

Microsoft gets clowned on for a ton of reasons relating to their first party. If you think Sony's even remotely comparable to them then you clearly have lost your mind.

I'm expecting more of the same from PSX to be honest, lots of release dates, shadow drops, betas and gameplay demos of things we've known about for a while (TLOU2/RE2/RDR2/Death stranding). Throw in 1 or 2 new games, like Sucker Punch's new IP and either a Capcom or FromSoft and I think that'll be about it.

Then E3 2018 should be huge, a last hurrah for the PS4, end PSX 2018 with a medley of Playstation startup sounds PSX > PS2 > PS3 > PS4 > New sound.

Same, I'm expecting studios that finish games now will likely move onto PS5 rather than continue to build *large* titles for PS4.

Hidden Agenda is a good get but it's a game that requires extra $400 hardware that most PS4 owners don't have. Not the game I had in mind

comparable in that it's bad for both of them to go that long without that kind of announcement? I do think that
