MoviePass (Unlimited Films in Theaters) Drops to $9.95 a Month

Finally used my card over the weekend to watch IT and it worked perfectly without any issues. The movie ticket was $11.50 so the Sub already paid for more than itself in a single ticket. Hope they somehow manage to make some money to keep this going cause it's awesome.

Damn there's so much stuff I want to see and not enough time. Mother, Wind River, and Kingsman 2 all look interesting.
Haven't had a bad theater experience in recent memory, though I usually go either Sunday morning, or during the day when I have an off Friday.
I saw IT at 3 PM on a Tuesday and there were only three other people in the theater.

I just got my card and realized I don't want to carry around another in my wallet. Anyone know if it can be used with Android Pay and if any theater chains support that?

I kind of hate the theater experience, but that's why I go in the morning on a weekday. I went to see It, and there couldn't have been more than ten people total in the theater, so I didn't have any noise issues.

My brother and I went on a Tuesday at around 2 to see Guardians of The Galaxy 2 and were the only ones there. It was the greatest experience ever. We got close again the Thursday after around 3 in Pirates but one other person was there.
I went to see Logan Lucky at 4:30PM on Thursday of last week. Literally nobody but my group. We just MST that movie lol.

I tried this with apple paybut it says the Card issuer doesn't support it. So Movie Pass has to approve Apple/Android pay...

I'm gonna try my card tomorrow...

they should lower the prices. they gotta get asses in the seats. even with the premium price on ticket prices at these premium theaters, they're still making all their money on food and drinks. you can't get a cocktail at an AMC or whatever; that's a huge draw by itself.
You can at the AMC across the street from me. They have a full bar. Recliners too. It's pretty nice.

For occasional use cards like this I just keep them in in a small ziploc sandwich bag in my cars glove compartment. Keeps my wallet clean and they're still always with me when needed.

Everybody asking about hey, can I beat the terms of service?

Cancel your card. You aren't helping. You are the problem.

If the terms of service aren't what you want don't join.

Just saw It at a Regal, and the lady at the box office commented on my Moviepass card, saying what an unbeatable deal it is and that she'd get one if she didn't work there etc. Thought it was interesting to hear a theater employee's opinion.

Great. So moviepass has worked fine the last couple of weeks, but today it decides not to show any showtimes. Theatres and the location tracking are fine, but no movies will load up to select. What a waste of time.

so the Lupin III movie is playing, and I'd go check it out, but it's not showing up on the app. I was thinking about just selecting a ticket for something else on the app and just buying a ticket for the Lupin movie, but I went to the theater's website and the tickets for Lupin are $12.50, whereas the regular movies are $16.20 a ticket. :\
that'd probably be a red flag for TOS. weak

How long does it take for the card to arrive once it said it was shipped from the app?
The "Card Shipped" notification along with card number has been showing up in my app for three weeks now. No card.

I feel pretty confident it's bullshit meant to placate people.

edit: My biggest concern is that when I finally receive my card a month and a half later they'll be ready to bump up the price.

Anyone else having the issue where you suddenly have less free time than you used to have because you're going to the movies multiple times each week? I sent MoviePass an email, hoping they can fix this for me.

I like the tip and I also have a card holder to organize my less used cards but I live in a city so unfortunately I'm unlikely to have it on me if I'm downtown on a weekend and decide to stop in for a movie.

Thanks. I'm guessing they won't because it'd make it too easy for people to share.

The fickle public. They must've broken their api this morning; it's fixed now.

Just for kicks yesterday, I tried the chat in the app to see if they respond. It's been almost 27 hours since the first automated "We'll be with you shortly" message.

My card went back to processing after being shipped for the past 3 weeks too.

Yeah, it's crazy to me that people don't already recognize this as a great deal when it's used while following the ToS.

it's been 17+ days since I received that message. No one is answering those chats. They might as well disable them.

Mine just changed to card processing as well. This has been an absolute clusterfuck.

Has it really though? It's just backlogged shipments, it's not like they're charging people hundreds of times or something like that. As long as I get it eventually and it works I can wait a month to see a movie in theaters. People are consistently getting their cards albeit heavily delayed, and besides some asshole theater managers who don't understand that the service is literally just a MasterCard people have been using them w/o any major hassle. I've seen wayyyyy more embarassing product launches than this just look at basically any big Kickstarter campaign.

Add me to the just switched to "Card Processing" after 3+ weeks of saying "Card Shipped" list. So bizarre, I can understand "Card Shipped" as an incorrect hold status but it even included last 4 of the card number and an expiration date.

In fact, it still shows an expiration date of 08/2024 below the "Card Processing" status. Their communication and handling of this remains terrible.

8/15 order, card went from shipped to processing as well. I think they are just bullshitting every step of the way at this point. If I don't have the card by the time my billing date arrives on the 28th, I'm doing chargebacks. This just isn't worth it.

Just signed up for mine. I gotta question: If I want to see an IMAX movie in 2D does the moviepass just not work or do I just have to pay the difference of the IMAX extra fee?

I've never been so disappointed checking the mail everyday

I've never ordered anything that took a month to get here before

imagine their feedback on eBay

you can't pick IMAX movies in the app, and getting a ticket for a movie you didn't select in the app is against the TOS, and your account can be terminated. can/will they catch you? who knows

So it works with them paying for the ticket rather than the theater then?

Huh. Okay, I'm slightly annoyed that this is taking so long, but I am actually kind of comforted that it went from shipped to processing. I've kind of had the feeling that my card ended up on the floor of a shipping center and it was just never going to get to me. This says that someone has realized that my card never went out and they're fixing it.

So, annoying that it wasn't done right the first time, but nice that it's being done right now.

You aren't supposed to be able to choose an Imax movie, they are supposed to not even show up in the list, because it's against the terms of service to see any movie which requires an extra surcharge. Any that make it through are a mistake, don't count on it happening much after this hectic time.
