Is anyone else worried that Death Stranding's story is going to be too "crazy"?

Metal Gear Solid certainly has some "crazy" bits in it. Stuff that, to be appreciated, one has to suspend their disbelief. But since MGS took place in our universe and was centered around the military and politics, it had a certain level of groundedness. Yeah, there was silly nanomachines and a little bit of paranormal stuff, but all of that was at a relative minimum compared to the rest of what was happening, which was real-world issues and stuff.

Death Stranding, on the other hand, seems to take place in a reality where anything goes. Babies in capsules, soldiers with umbilical cords attached to their equipment, levitating god-like figures in the sky. As much as I love Kojima and his batshit ideas, part of me fears that Death Stranding might be too "out there" and not grounded enough to be appreciated at the same level as Metal Gear was. I very much want this to not be true, though.

Anyone else?

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
It's when Kojima is allowed to do whatever he wants that he creates the best product.

See: MGS2.

We know somewhere in the ballpark of 1% of this game, so it's impossible to be "worried" about anything at this point.

Not at all, I love it when Kojima goes bonkers on his plots.

I'm more concerned with the game being open world and how that will affect the story. He didn't pull it off well with MGSV.

Kojima is a great game designer, but his story and cinema aspirations were always put in check by talented people in his team. My fear is that since leaving Konami and the almost worship like level of adoration he got recently, is that no one will be able to say "No" to him during the development of DS and we end up getting some insane game story with juvenile beats.

This game needs to be some drug fueled fever dream haze of insanity from Kojima. I think most people expect nothing less, and in fact, will be disappointed if it is not off-the-hook-batshit-insane.

Worried? Hell no, Im looking forward to it. Games play it very safe these days, go nuts.

I'm counting on it. I have a feeling like this unleashed kojima will deliver, if not the best, the most interesting experiences.

Kojima gets far too much praise. Mgs 4 and 5 were terrible from a story perspective. I think he's turns into a hack tbh. I don't expect much from this game.

Pls be batshit crazy, even if the game is disappointing I want to beat it with the impression "what in god's name did I play?"

Yep, zero interest in the game due to his other titles.. Too goofy for my liking.

Too bad really because the premise seems pretty cool

I dont think anything that you saw in those trailers is actually going to be what the game is about or looks like. With Kojima its all symbolism and hidden messages.

TBH this sounds like insanity that could have been in many different MGS games, haha. It's not AS grounded as you think it is.

Yep. Kojima needs Fukushima and others to keep him grounded lest he become crazy and we wind up with shit like Quiet.

Example of an idea that Kojima's team had forced him to scrap:

- The Boss has her naked breasts out and they have a snake tattoo on them so when she shoots, the breasts jiggle and it looks like the snake is laughing -

I'm more concerned that there will be some cringe-worthy moments with some overtly sexualized half-naked woman that Kojima swears has story justification for her lack of clothing and this character will have the uncanny ability to seductively shove her ass in the way of the camera whenever possible...

oh wait that was MGS V

Do you even Kojima, OP?

If detractors don't try and smear this game as "self-indulgent" I will be immensely disappointed.
