Avatar sequels begin shooting this Monday 25th September

and here I was thinking Cameron's perfectionist 3D remaster of Terminator 2 (which was frigging awesome) itself set back Avatar another year.

Dang it... too late. :(

Can't believe they finally start shooting this shit. The new movies are going to be the most epic thing cinema has ever seen. Mark my words. Never doubt Cameron.

Sam Worthington is sure hoping so

This is hilarious. Anyways I eagerly await that trailer in like 2 or 3 years or whatever. The spectacle will likely be insane

I almost forgot James Cameron was a film director for a bit.

I can't wait to see this literally be the only theatrical release in its month because everyone else is just getting the heck out of its way.

The avatar and 3D fad is over since long time ago, avatar 2 won't get half of the viewers the first had.

20 bucks says it's pushed back before it starts

Cameron, Sunday night: "Need to push it to 2022. Realised this morning I need to build a new planet to film this on, and also invent a new form of camera since I don't like the existing tech. Script wise, meh yeah they are done"

Wow. Worthington is back? Couldn't they have just recasted that role for someone more engaging? The dude's career went down the hole since as well.

Cameron made two completely different movies 12 years apart and they made $600 and $700 million US respectively, not adjusted for inflation.

I saw Avatar once and mostly forgot about it, I dont really think the movie stuck around in pop culture, and I don’t really know what moves Cameron to make another one, to say nothing of three more—but I’m also done predicting that he can’t just will a record-breaking film into existence, because apparently he can.

A Cameron movie isn’t a flop until it flops.

I can't wait for James Cameron to once again show Hollywood how to do strong female action heroes with strategically placed hair over their tits.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Still don’t know how people doubt Cameron. ESPECIALLY Cameron doing a sequel.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t adore Avatar or anything - and completely agree it has a very weak/boring story. But I have every bit of faith the sequel will be great and will do wonderfully at the BO.

All that said, I’m still not convinced we’ll ever actually see A Cameron-directed Avatar 5 in the next decade or ever.

I completely agree. People have no idea what they're in for. These movies are going to blow people's minds.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
I still have no clue how there was never an Avatar animated series or something after the last movie to at least attempt to keep some buzz going about the characters and world.

Ya'll are gonna feel pr-eeeeeeee-tty silly when Avatar 5 rolls around and you're all crying big, sloppy man-tears when we say our farewells to Jake Sully.

Worthington gonna work his way into your hearts. Book it!

They don't do 3D on broadcast or cable television. It would have never worked.

Wasn't Worthington literally in a big Oscar-nominated movie a year ago?

I never understood the idea that he doesn't do anything.

So are they shooting all four sequels back-to-back?

So first movie release in 4-5 years?

This kind of needed to come out by 2012. No one cares at this point. It also rode the 3D wave, which is kind of dead by now.

Maybe T2 3D was a test of current interest... how did that do?

2020? Why?

Why so long between 3 and 4?

Going by the schedule posted above, they seem to plan to shoot the first 2, get them released, then shoot the last 2...

I'm actually interested in the production story of these movies. They are probably going to be much closer to how video game production functions then normal movie productions. Years long creative production chains for multiple movies at once is not the normal way Hollywood works. Probably a billion dollar investment too.

The movie is, at the very least, going to make a billion dollars.

So you're wrong in saying no one cares.

At the very least 2 Billion, because 1B might come from China alone, if it doesn't quite get there, it won't be that far away. So, even 2B could be a large underestimation at this point.
