Monster Hunter: World TGS 2017 Trailer

HStallion

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
"Hunter! You have to climb in to take out the reactors from the inside! SHOOT THE CORE!!"

You joke but I can see it as totally possible. The Lost Planet series had some giant boss monsters you could attack from outside and within and it made for some pretty cool action set pieces. Not sure it would work in the MH games but I wouldn't be totally against it if they fleshed it out.

They actually have done that with the Mohran duo, as you have to destroy a vulnerable spot on one their dorsal fins in order to pass through it to get to their head while the rest of the team is on the ship blasting away at its tusks.

Any theories on what nerg's weapon gimmick will be? I think it's pretty much a given since he has a unique mechanic like that. Maybe some sort of sharpness regeneration since I don't see seregios anywhere yet.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he inherited the Regi gimmick for this weapons. It's been mentioned that bleeding status is in, but that's already shared between a couple of monsters already, so it's not a unique gimmick.

Oh great a scripted sequence to waste your time just like in MH4.

Yeah, tbh I'm cool with story expansion, but like you, I don't think it should be injected into quests in unfun ways. Like making lagi unkillable the first time you see him. At least in Gen/XX you can kill the flagships when they pop up in early quests. And the fight with gore on the boat in 4U.. ugh that was really unfun to fight on that cramped as fuck ship. It's not a huge deal for me either way.

The optimist in me would trade all the shitty gathering quests at the start of games for an expanded story any day. One wastes your time and is boring, the other also wastes time, but has the potential to be interesting at least.

I really love the design.

This game has the potential to set the world on fucking fire. It might become the next Dark Souls.

It's pretty obviously a tutorial, which is necessary if they intend to attract a new audience.

Next Dark Souls would actually be a small decline in sales for the series if I remember the figures right. Needs to be the next Final Fantasy to be an improvement.

That is, compared to handheld figures, not the console numbers.

edit: Final Fantasy might be too high. Basically, to be an improvement on the current situation, it'd be aiming to break 4-5 million. Dark Souls 3 has only sold 3 million so far.

Everything is separate right? Or did I miss a crossplay announcement.

There is no crossplay, Capcom ruled it out. Guessing they didn't think it was worth it after SFV though I think MHW would benefit far more from crossplay than SFV would.

Has there been any videos yet of super early in the game? Like literally the beginning and or beginning missions? It might be too early for this type of footage but its TGS time so whatever

I love the spike growing aspect of Nergigante. Some of those shots after its gotten into a battle look very different than before a fight started. That's some cool stuff especially if its in reaction to damage done by the hunters.

Call of Duty throughout the PS360 era(and maybe still does, not sure) ran on the same engine as Quake 3, name really doesn't matter if you're not seeing what they added under the hood.

Outside the special effects though, MHW isn't doing much that MTF didn't do last gen(on consoles/PC not handheld of course). Game looks amazing mostly due to the art direction/assets/animations.

Yeah, IMO Lost Planet 2 is still one of the best looking games of last gen. Im pretty sure I can screenshot some stuff in there and it could look pretty close to this game minus the resolution

Something like this?

More like the village and your starting armor and stuff. Also, any videos of the character creation yet?

You can solo most everything but the game shines when you're playing with other people.

We're going to get better footage of the character creator during TGS, but for now, this is what we have to work with.

Needless to say, it's a huge step ahead of previous titles in the series.

Depends on the people, though that's every multiplayer game in existence. Generally speaking, though, the community has been strong enough where the amount of bad runs are rather minimal.
Don't think that's what he meant. There's a lot more challenge while going solo, some people just prefers that over co-op.

Some prefer solo, most prefer multi. Either way is viable. Personally I mix it up, usually solo when I want to practice a specific matchup or improve my clear times. Farming materials for various things I usually like to group up to make it go a bit quicker.

So are there different classes or is everyone a warrior running around with a huge ass sword?

No classes, you can swap between any of the 14 weapons whenever you want. Not all are big ass swords, there's something for everyone. Your character customization comes in the form of skill points on your armor and decorations you slot into the armor.

The various weapons are effectively the "classes", in themselves. They each play differently from one another and offer their own pros and cons.
