Most underwhelming final bosses (Spoilers)

I would have to say the final battle with Ganon from Breath of the Wild. Amazing music and visuals but defeating him is super easy and feels kinda boring to be honest. All you have to do is hit the weak points with arrows a few times and you win.

Whole game building up your fight with Sauron.....it's a QTE

I was searching for my brain for one, but you are right with this one. Probably the worst final Boss I've ever played.

First thing to come to mind is Halo 4. I actually laughed out loud at how lame the "climax" was.

I literally couldn't disagree more. I thought he was the perfect final boss, and everything about the setup of that fight was just perfect.

Based on how many times he kicked my ass I can't say this was the case for me.

Based on what I've seen, it might be that Halo 4 thing. Not even a Halo fan but man that must have been disappointing.

I liked it. surprised you didn't even mentioned Nashandra from DS2.

Oh I forgot about this and Mass Effect 2. Human Reaper will always be dumb.

Zhaitan - Guild Wars 2

he's a giant undead dragon that clings to a pillar while you shoot cannons at him. even at vanilla launch of guild wars 2 there were world bosses that had more mechanics than this fight that took place in a dungeon

The final bossfight in Sonic Lost World is basically a copy/paste of the final boss of Sonic Colours. Like, almost verbatim.

Seth in Street Fighter 4. We went from a super jacked tiger man in 1, to a drug baron with magic powers in 2 and Alpha, to fucking Jesus in 3, to... A mannequin that has no unique special moves? So disappointing.

FFIX's last boss. It just comes out of nowhere and it's like, what the fuck did I just fight?

Gael, the Slave Knight as the final boss of Dark Souls was incredibly underwhelming anticlimactic and disappointing.

No way, man. That's a great fight, with really good buildup and themes.

A pretty regular mini-boss that you had defeated two of in the past two hours that you get to fight again.

Mass Effect 2: oh look the terminator is swatting at you. Seriously, nearly ruined the game in retrospect: this is the terrible existential threat I've spent 20 odd hours trying to stop.

He was tough as nails so from a gameplay perspective he was ideal, but I really expected...something to come of it.

I feel like From treat the Dark Souls story like Bethesda treats TES and Fallout: let the community take care of it. Vaati had to give it some context.

Quantum break shut the bed right here. Just awful fight made worse by the fact I'd lost interest by that. Wanted to see how my choices play out.

His name was Marauder Shields.... He's the last one you fight before you choose an ending so I think he counts.
Mass Effect 3 for those that don't know the meme

Wrong

Breath of the Wild was hella boring. A really boring first phase design followed by a pretty yet shallow set piece. Woulda been great had it followed Twilight Princess and had a rad swordsman rival battle. Oh well.

You point at a thing, you win! Okay, you point at a person, to be fair, but having the final boss of a Metroid game be a Where's Waldo segment was a bit... weird.

Mass Effect 3
Where's our big showdown with Harbinger? We had a perfectly fine template for fighting a Reaper on foot in the Rannoch mission, so why not scale that up to ridiculous size? Could even have the amount of damage you do scale directly with how big a fleet you assembled. But no. A boring, standard Marauder is the last enemy.

He lived as Marauder Shields, but died as Marauder Health. He tried to keep us from The Ending, but we ignored his pleas. Honored be his sacrifice.

Uncharted series? Naughty Dog need to stop doing boss fights. TLOU doesn't have one and it's great.
The worst part of the Last of Us is the final ending gauntlet, because armored men are not what the combat is built around. Having that instead of a boss is so much worse.

Ganon in Breath of the Wild for me as well.

I was exploring the castle, accidentally stepped into the throne room (because I'm an idiot and wasn't paying attention) and therefore triggered the final boss fight.

The fight and conclusion to the story was so disappointing for me, that I stopped playing the game after the fight. That was after 150 hours of enjoying the game, mind you, but it felt so completely unimportant, that I couldn't get myself to continue any further, even though I haven't done all shrines and other stuff. Sucks for me, but I really disliked the way they wrapped everything up. Not buying the DLC either.

Well I was gonna say what you said OP but now I guess I'll fall back on my usual RE7. It sucks that there was build up and it ended up just being a giant set-piece. I saved so much ammo to make sure I was prepared and it didn't even matter anyway. :/

Good thing he isn't the final boss of DS3 :^)

I will forever maintain that the last boss is False King, King Allan it's just a story thing

A final boss is the last boss you fight before the game ends. DeS doesn't end after you killed FK. Hell you can fight him right after killing an archdemon and Penetrator.

Destiny
Destiny 2
Diablo3
The Division (The mission itself was amazing but the final boss was just another named NPC bulletsponge battle)
Watchdogs

I'm starting think I either have unrealistic expectations for boss fights, or it's a loss art.

Monster Hunter is the king of underwhelming final boss fights which is weird since MH has some of the best bosses of any game ever.

Shen Gaoren: A giant crab that doesn't even attack you. You just whack at it's legs while it tries to destroy a fort.

Ceadeus: A big sea monster. The first phase of the fight consists of you attacking the fur around it's neck while it swims through a corridor ignoring you. The second phase is better (It actively targets you!) but not by much.

Ivory Lagiacrus: A land based variant of a monster you've already fought. Yay.

Rusted Kushala Daora: This is more of an interactive cutscene than a boss fight.

Glavenus: This is actually a fun fight, but it's not final boss material. Especially since you could have killed a more difficult version earlier in the game (You're meant to run from it but you can stay and fight if you want).

Zinogre: Same reasons as Glavenus.
