So we know that the Pokémon franchise will eventually move to the Nintendo Switch. With that in mind, one of the things that the Pokémon series has become known for outside of two game versions at launch and a third version later is the upgraded remake of old generations, a trend that started with the first generation remakes FireRed and LeafGreen on GBA and most recently with the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes on 3DS. Also recently, the Pokémon games have been getting "warts and all" minimally enhanced ports to the 3DS Virtual Console. The only real change is allowing wireless trading and access to the Pokémon bank.
So the question is: when it comes to old Pokémon generations on Switch, should they do remakes or Virtual Console releases first? I would expect them to do both and hope for double dipping (quadruple dipping?), but there's no chance that they release Sparkling Diamond and Shiny Pearl at the same time as VC Diamond and Pearl, as that would cut into its own audience. Also, when it comes to VC would you expect the latest remake, the original or both?
Alternatively, do you think that the Pokémon Bank could cause them to forgo remakes entirely?
