What movie made you walk out the theatre in awe?

Have you ever seen a movie that satisfied you completely when it finished and you just kinda sat there in awe thinking about what you watched?

Seeing Jurrasic Park in theaters was the first movie to pop in my head. I never thought I'd see effects like that or seeing dinasours from my imagination realized like that on the big screen

When me and a friend went to see Birdman, it was on a relatively big screen and the entire audience was in silence throughout. One of my favourite cinema experiences.I think that's the only time I heard a bit of a clapping in a UK cinema when the credits rolled.

Off the top of my head - the first Lord Of The Rings. Up to that point I hated fantasy. I was dragged by my cousins to go watch it and it turned out to be amazing.

There Will Be Blood.

Left the theater just stunned by what I had seen.

Went to see Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev at (my country's) national film archive. That was quite an experience. The ending purposefully gives you time to reflect on what has occurred in the film.

saving private ryan really blew me away and stayed in my memory for months. i guess it wouldn't be as big a deal today but at the time i had no idea a movie could be so gritty and raw.

i remember several elderly folk exiting the theater on the beach scene lol. the tension in the audience was palpable, a collective "this... isn't what we signed on for"

First Lord of the Rings
First Mummy
The Dark Knight
Inception
Tangled

...the usual suspects

The King and the Clown (Korean movie)

Bronx-Man

I was stuck in my seat for what felt like the longest time after watching Get Out trying to just take it all in. I was still shook the entire car ride back.

The Dark Knight got me legit shook. The Clown Prince of Crime was total chaos, got chilled multiple time in the theater

I don't know about satisfied completely but I was stunned the entire drive back from mother! And when I got home I had to immediately lie down and process what I'd seen.

There were two films released more or less within the same year that affected me physically like no other film has done:

Requiem for a Dream
Dancer in the Dark

The former was a punch to the gut whereas the latter just sent us all home shocked out of our brains.

Seeing Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen was pretty incredible as well.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
The Matrix
Fellowship of the Ring
Blade Runner
Interstellar

Arrival and The VVitch are the most recent I can recall.

Rogue One and The Force Awakens, too, but more so out of shock
that Leia shows up in the last two seconds and that Episode 7 wasnt a train wreck
and less because of any actual mindfuckery or how good those films were.

Avatar

Say what you want about the story, but I was absolutely stunned by the visuals. It remains the only movie I've ever watched in 3D (and from what I hear, one of the few movies to do 3D right), which probably helps.

Logan
Fury Road
Mother
Winter Soldier
Don't Breathe
The Neon Demon
Scott Pilgrim
Force Awakens

These come to mind. In terms of intensity, quality, and surprise.... Left the theater having adored them, instantly feeling like I just saw something special that I'll actually care about for a long time (vs. most movies just being enjoyable/probably won't watch again)

Seems like a long list but I go to the theaters fairly often. Easy to impress I suppose
