That's the other bit. Special edition game case (the actual case with the game inside) in Nintendo special editions have zero ratings logos on them as of this year. Something they should have done years ago before they ruined so many amazing box arts ...
Pokemon is a weird exception:
Not sure what they'll do with Xenoblade 2. That box doesn't show any rating at all. The box also lacks the hanger.

They might be doing the Bayo2 Super EXpensive What Was it Called Edition thing with the big book package. I think they had a clear plastic slipcase over it? Put the ratings on there. Either way, the case will be free of logos.
My hype for XB2 CE dropped to zero, when Europe gets the non-hardcover artbook and 20 less pages than the US version. Why?! Just why?!
Can't believe that First Print Edition was just 69.99 EUR. Too bad I never got to open it.

I think I remember reading about it being actually a recent rule change by the ratings boards, regarding where the logos need to go and where they don't. I can't imagine NOE were ecstatic about the USK logo ruining their art thus far!

They always had the option to produce "clean" reversible covers for special editions (like they weirdly did for all early copies of A Link Between Worlds for some reason). It's bizarre.

I really wonder if they spent all their stock. I heared it is generally considered wise to hold back a certain amount ( I think it was like 4 % or something) of your stock for these cases. Otherwise every damaged or lost edition can't be corrected. I know this from a small Blu-ray/DVD release company that usually produces Mediabooks for collectors and it really appears to be a good idea. However even the Nintendo service didn't know when I asked them.

Ouch. If there is one thing I can commend GAME for, it's their packaging. They've really improved in that area. On the other hand, Nintendo Store has always been a mixed bag (once had two Amiibo boxes squashed into the tiniest box just to make them fit).
Yeah, apparently that was always the plan, but they really hid that message. I had to find it buried in a nested comment on Twitter.

Sorry if I've misunderstood but I don't quite get you. They were offering it with the standard and Legacy editions as far as I remember (the case, I mean).

Yeah, they failed to give me a preorder bonus with my BotW order and after multiple tweets and emails they finally responded with "we ran out".
That's why I basically saw that tweet and gave up cos I could see them using that as a deflection.
They're so unbelievably shit, really. I hate having to go to them to buy something I want, but they get a lot of exclusives or have done in the past. I think this might be my only purchase with them all year though.

I just got mine from GAME last night, and no 3DS case.
I ended up buying two Legacy Editions, one from Amazon ES and one from GAME. I've had so many bad experiences with GAME sending limited editions in bubblewrap envelopes, so I ordered two on the odds that one of them was bound to come damaged.
Surprisingly, they both arrived in boxes, but the Amazon one had some weird marks and some sticker-like residue, and thankfully the GAME one was fine, so I'll be sending the Amazon one back (glad it's the more expensive one I'm returning for a refund).
Anyway, just glad to have the game finally, because it's been a long wait! Super Metroid and Zero Mission are two of my favourite games, and I've never played 2, so I'm really looking forward to it!

I only received mine yesterday, so I wouldnt worry yet.
But you're in the US, right? Shipping within Europe shouldn't take two weeks.
I blackedlisted GAME since the day that they fucked my Bayonetta 2 Limited Edition.
I'm not going to use them again. Had a good experience with the NES Mini controllers, but the experience this time is enough to deter me.
Talking to myself now: for GAME it apparently does. The package just arrived with the box it was shipped in looking pretty damaged. Not sure where it got stuck in for two weeks. Game itself is in good condition.
No preorder gift though.
