It's the best Persona game... but that says more about how un-replayable P3 and P4 are.
Had the feeling like it was a fever dream.
This is how I feel but with much less time, I enjoyed the first 20 or so hours enough to keep going but after another 20 I just couldn't take the repetitious nature of the game anymore.I bought it day 1 and put in over 100 hours into it and still haven't beat it. I'm pretty damn disappointed by it. It's been pretty boring. Haven't found the energy to beat it yet.
No i know these things, we are just interpreting the events differently, which is fine....
Brian I wanna write some stuff for you about the game, but tbh A) this probably isn't the best thread for it and B) Its been a while since I played it so I can't convey what I'd be thinking in enough depth.
You are right though that personal interpretation is probably playing a large part into how we're all looking at the game so I wanna link you to Guess Who's fantastic summary of P5's narrative and the messages Atlus was likely trying to convey. [Obvious spoiler warning to everyone else though]
...Maybe it won't do anything to change how you feel but maybe it might improve your retrospective on it.
Actually thinking upon it a little, I like Persona 5 more stylistically (it's hard to argue with on that front) but Persona 4's nuts and bolts story and character give me a warmer feeling.
It's a fantastic game overall, arguably one of the best JRPGs ever made even. It noticeably drops the ball in a couple of areas but when Persona 5 is moving at full throttle, it's absolutely sublime and unlike anything you've ever experienced.
It's currently my #2 as far as GotY goes, with NieR: Automata sitting at #1. Nier is pretty much in another plane of existence in regards to how much I love it, though.
