Got my 8bitdo wireless controller and dongle: works great!

Does the controller auto shut-off when idle, though? Want to make sure the battery doesn't drain when not using it.

Which controller and receiver did you buy and from where? Did you have to update it to make it work?

I'm resizing all my "_small" pictures right now to try to fit them all on one screen... 50% smaller version of the already small images is REALLLLY small on a 1440p screen haha

I did this until I tried the "google" option, which makes adding boxart as painless as possible.

Just Added:

Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon - Another Story (W/ English Patch)
Chrono Trigger
Donkey Kong Country 2 & 3
Harvest Moon
Mega Man X3
Super Mario All-Stars
Super Punch-Out!!
TMNTIV - Turtles In Time
Zombies Ate My Neighbors

This is pretty cool, y'all.

I used Google too but the default "_small" images are too big for everything to fit on the screen if you have more than 12 additional games.

Hopefully he will eventually make it so the tool checks how many games you have to sync and automatically resize everything.

Btw... Is there any ways to resize the original games too? It looks weird now with the original games still at normal size while my own games are at 50%

Can i just deactivate the little thumbnails somehow? I have 63 games on my system now, i cant make them fit anyway and they're also kind of pointless with the big ones so it would be the best solution.

But even if it goes over the screen, it doesn't bother me that much.

Where do you add the resized thumbnail icons for the preinstalled games? I only see a directory structure for the games I've added. Can you dump the boxart for the preinstalled games?

I want to install this but I am kinda far in Secret of Mana. Will this effect saved game data already on the snes classic?

No. My complete SMW save was fine.

Transparent images? The arrow up top would still show though. Hrm.

This is a little trickier. You need to FTP into the machine (hakchi has the info you need in the Tools menu) and browse to /usr/share/games/. There you will find the preinstalled CLV-P-xxxxx games. Download those to your PC. (Make sure to set your FTP client to transfer only 1 file at a time, the SNES Mini really hates more than that)

Now copy those folders to hackchi's /snes_games/ folders where your custom games are.

Now restart hakchi and you will see they appear as custom games too alongside previous ones you added, so you will want to deselect the original 21. Now you have copies that you can work with, such as changing their box art and thumbnails.

Because blurry box-art as thumbnails is boring, this is how I've spent my evening.

Would you mind sharing your work somewhere? Those are awesome!

And you still won't loose the save states that you had previously?

For what it's worth, I installed Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, made save states, removed the games, and then reinstalled them with boxart added on and my save states were still there despite their associated games having been previously removed. Can't speak for every instance of save states being safe, but this makes it seem like they're pretty firmly safe unless you manually delete them.

I've been trying to do the hack posted, on Windows 7 within VirtualBox on my Mac, and it keeps giving me the same error when flashing the new kernel. It says "Kernel dumped but the MD5 checksum is unknown: 228967ab1035a347caa9c880419df487 Do you want to continue?" I can click yes, and it will finish the installation, but after that, there's is no way to sync any settings or games to the SNES. The dialog box keeps saying it's waiting for it to be connected.

lol nice.
Is it possible to have two lines of thumbnails so that we don't run out of screen space with more than 32 games?

Pretty sure you can’t, but the thumbnails can be made smaller and then you can fit more. So figure out how many games you want then you can figure out how big they have to be to fit. Then resize all the thumbnails proportionally based on that width.

After messing around with this thing for the last week and adding a few additional games (Stunt Race FX hard locks the system FYI), I've got to say that I don't think it's going to replace my RP as my go to to replay SNES games. It's a cool little gadget for what it is though.

I've also got to say that this console and collection of games hasn't gripped me like the NES Classic last year. It could just be that it's because I've returned to these games so many times throughout the years that having another avenue to play them is no biggie, whereas with the NES I hadn't touched those games in probably 20 years.

I want to get an 8bitdo SN30 controller and an NES retro receiver. What's the cheapest safest place to buy from. I can't figure out how to order from their site directly. So I'm thinking Amazon. I think it should be around $55 all said and done.

Unanswered questions (apologies if they've been answered):

1. Do you have to do anything special to add Japanese games? Or can you just add them like normal without issue (besides patching in fan translations)?

2. Can someone post the correct boxart size for reference? I want to take it and start dragging/resizing box art.

3. If you add a game, put in a save state, and swap that game out, does the save state move with it or is it stored in the Classic?

4. Any estimated timeframes when the non-working games (Terranigma, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Treasure of Rudras, specifically) will work properly?

Does the Publisher and Release Date actually appears anywhere? I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to chase down all those infos and enter them manually.

Sort by date put them into the correct order when I tried it.

Then again, I only loaded 17 more and it didn’t take much time to google.

For 1, I can get Fire Emblem 4 running in Japanese with no problems (well, beyond my inability to read Japanese, can't really do anything when I have it loaded up). The Project Naga translation patch has something going on where it makes the game refuse to start up, but unaltered Japanese FE4 runs fine.

For 3, save states are not stored on rom files so your save states remain on the classic.

Can't speak to 4 at all, but I have the English patch for Treasure of the Rudras and it's been running perfectly fine for me. Only issue I've seen is the text isn't as clear as it could be, but it's still legible enough to play the game without any problems. Your mileage may vary there, I guess.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Just fired up Chrono Trigger. Looks and sounds exactly as it should. Wonderful.

How do I get the menu icon to match the originals. I’ve tried resizing them to the same thing and I’ve tried a couple different individuals ones and they keep coming out smaller.

Any luck with Terranigma or Super Street Fighter II? Those two in particular are giving me errors. :/ C7 with SF, black screen after Terranigma's Chapter 1 screen.

It's worth noting that anyone with an email address should have free cloud storage and that's a fantastic place to KEEP AN ADDITIONAL COPY

Yeah, that's what I did. Be sure to title your email something recognizable like Mini SNES Hakchi Kernel Dump so that you can find it by searching any of those keywords. Gmail pretty much doesn't delete emails, ever, so you'll have it there until the end of time.

Yeah, I thought I read about 250 or something. Would ~200 be enough for saves? (I'm guessing easily)

Hakchi itself has a green bar at the bottom measuring used space and free space. For some reason it's showing 198 total for me in the latest version, perhaps they lowered it to make sure people don't fill all space and have savegame issues later?

Man! Would you care to share them? We could make a library of those and keep adding more for other games.

damn, I wanted to finally try robot-ff

Assuming you mean "the FF that has mechas in the cover", that IS FFIIIUS / FFVI, but I hate to inform you you only get to ride mechas for like the first ten minutes of the game.

Added a few games like Chrono Trigger and Shadowrun. But all the new games are missing the cart save Icon, so how do I add that?
