Using the one at the top of this cool list some cool guy made. :)
Does exactly what you wanted and nothing more, just as I wanted too.

When I patched it, and tried to run it, it doesn't do anything: no border or loading screen and it gives a C7 error. Any suggestions? (Same thing happens with Super Metroid; I'm using RC4 if that makes a difference.)

EDIT: Oh my, top of the page action. Ummmmm....

I'm only putting a max of 49 games on my SNES, with the 50th being the Super Gameboy (once it's up and running).

C7 usually means corrupt ROM. Does it work in SNES9x on your PC?

I was able to patch just fine, so I know both the patch works and the SNES Mini can play it.

I used RC5, and I got everything working perfectly. Someone said Hakchi breaks the demo option, but it's working on my end. Even pulls from the added games. Only issue I have is seeing the games at the bottom running off the screen. Doesn't bother me, though.

So I wanted to add more games today to my snes mini and for some reason, it's no longer detected by Hackshi ?

It keeps saying please connect the console or install drivers. It is still working on my tv though so it's not bricked at least .

Any advice on how to fix that?

EDIT: NVM after a reboot of my computer now it's working again !

Which FF5 patch is this? I don't think I've ever seen one with that font before.

EDIT: Found it

It's actually only two days old, it's like it came out of nowhere just for the SNES Mini. I couldn't resist giving it a go, I like the font, and the script in the GBA one is good, right?

whys that?

Lots of people are getting connection and exception problems. And Cluster didn't release it, there has to be a reason why.

Yeah. I love the GBA script of Final Fantasy 5. it's almost a comedy at times, which puts some people off, but I hear that's actually rather faithful to the original Japanese intent. It's a funny game.

I've wanted a hack like this forever now, perfect timing.

Yep! The GBA script is the best one, followed by the original 90s SNES fan translation.

Here's hoping the UI lag with thumbnails disabled is fixing in upcoming versions. I love having ALL my games neatly arranged in the main screen without having to use folders.

Don't suppose anyone can confirm if

Demons crest
Vampires kiss
Clock tower
Turtles in time

Can be added could you ?

I have those last two running perfectly.

Is it possible to go back to RC4 after updating to RC5? Does just copying RC4 over RC5 work?

RC5 is garbage. No language setting work anymore, you got folders even if you click on no folders, this one is faulty, stay at RC4 people.

Maybe create a new folder of RC4 and move your /snes_games/ folder over. Going back in the same folder might make things even worse.

The only thing discovered so far is that you can run the CRT filter without the lines, ie, just the blur.

I've been trying to get this to work, but for some reason overmounting that particular file (clover-canoe-shvc) soft-bricks my SNES. Maybe I'm just doing something stupid, though.

Awesome!!, so i take it that SNES9x is better than the emulator that comes on the SNES Mini?.

Also would the mini be able to run BSNES Performance?

Shame you cant do the opposite, scanlines without blur. If your using Retroarch to run your games couldn't you use a shader?

I've been trying too and also getting a soft-brick (turns on, turns off, turns on, turns off..)

But then I got this when trying to overmount the backgrounds folder too, so clearly I am just bad at that.

Dang. I was hoping you'd figured it out, haha

What am I doing wrong with my backgrounds?

Got a file called p8173_ownbgs, dropped it in the preinit.d folder.
Contains one line.
Code:
overmount /usr/share/backgrounds
Copied the backgrounds folder to /var/lib/hakchi/rootfs/usr/share/backgrounds
Soft-brick

Everything seems fine for 90% of the time, but occasionally I get stuck in a reset loop when resetting. So strange

I can't get the Seiken Densetsu 3 translation patch to apply correctly for some reason. The ROM is fine before applying it but once I do the graphics become a corrupted mess. Only translation patch I've had issues with.

I am unsure. I think even the performance version of BSNES would require somewhat better hardware in the SNES Classic.

As for your question, I'd say SNES9x is better than the native emulator on principle just for supporting obscure mapper chips like the S-DD1 in Star Ocean and Street Fighter Alpha 2 as well as the SETA ST010 Chip for games like F1 Roc 2: Race of Champions. Not to mention running Hi-Res Mode games like Kirby Dreamland 3, Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3. Nevermind playing games like Terranigma and Illusion of Gaia properly without issues.

I have other devices if I wanted GBA or Arcade emulation. I'm strictly using my SNES Classic for SNES games only. I'm only using Retroarch to get around the Native emulator issues. I'm mainly using it for Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia, and the Mana series games.

There's no support for hi-res mode at the moment, which SD3 uses extensively.

Oh my bad for not being specific, I mean even applying it and testing on my PC I can't get it to work right in Higan either. As soon as I apply the patch the ROM's graphics go crazy.

Yeah i probably have all games using RA SNES9x core, can the pre installed games be removed and SNES9x versions be re-added, also any posibility of using a simple CRT shader as its using RA instead of the emulator that came on the SNES classic?

Is it possible to display japansese box art yet in the upright or still pal / ntsc

Also I assume this little guy will play all region roms ?

Some translation patches require a headered or non-headered rom.

For example using a patch that needs a headered game on a non-header rom can result in graphical garbage or the game simply refusing to load in your case.

Use a Tool such as NSRT to see if your Rom needs one. You can add and remove headers using it.

However in the case specifically for Seiken Densetsu 3, that patch in question requires a headered rom. Have fun!

I haven't messed with shaders in RA yet, but if works the same as it does in Retropi then I don't see any difficulty in getting a basic CRT Shader working.

I'll need to do more research on it. I haven't explored all of the potential that can be done with the specific build of RA for the SNES Classic.

You need a slash at the end to overmount a folder, but that shouldn't cause a softbrick. But my file also has a new line at the end. Maybe that's it?

:D

It was used for SCN and some other territories too. Australian boxes have the G in the corner, so two of those are legit Euro boxes!

Check out this sweet, ultra rare, late cycle SCN Super Mario World:

Black borders was NOE, colour borders were NCL, hence closer to the true intent of the creators!

oh the wikia link didn't show for me

Sorry guys, but all the PAL box art is awful :( bizarre mishmash of US SNES design cues with some weird color bars inconsistently tried all over the place.

German boxes were plain black in most cases (all first party ones except DKC1 which had the palm design). Third party stuff was often colored.

Konami, for example, kept their silver design from the Game Boy packaging.

Capcom went all over the place:

Is there a way I can use the CRT filter with Pixel Perfect mode?

nope, not out-of-the box.

Lmao. Gets 'em every time.

Yup, it's how I knew where he was without even asking further. :D

Thank you, brave souls, for ironing out the weeds (?) of this early hack so I don't have to. Your bravery deserves commendation.

So I commend you!

Been working on a few icons to replace the box art for the games. Gives it a bit more of a "Switch" menu vibe, if that makes sense. Dimensions match identically to the space given for artwork on the SNESC menu without any bleed (which can occur at certain dimensions). Used a mixture of official art, box art, art from various regions, etc. Screenshot for example:

When I finish up, I'll definitely throw an album up on Imgur or something for everyone to download. Kind of waiting on a few certain games to work/run properly before I finalize everything (plus some contrast/color balancing for aesthetic).

Was thinking about the same. What's the dimensions you've been working to to get the fit right?
