Battlefront 2 beta kinda gave me a bad impression after being pretty hyped. Thinking of moving those funds over to GT Sport, game looks nuts and it's been forever since I've bought a racer.

I really didn't know that much about this game beforehand. They really knocked it down to the foundation for this game. Maybe they went all the way back to a very basic concept that inspired gt1. Imagine if this could be gt's botw.

There really is no other game that has the same vibe as GT, the UI and music and everything else just give it such a unique feel.

PDs graphics and attention to detail are absolutely mind-boggling, that was never in doubt.

I still think reviews might trash the game, but hey, a public demo before release is always good for people to try.

Well i can't play the game. There is no offline mode even though the game clearly states you can play arcade while offline.

Wtf is this? Destiny? Why have server maintenance at 7 on a Saturday evening.

I'm still at like 4 GB this shit taking me forever, slowest PSN download I've ever experienced here. Probably shit ton of traffic for the demo or just the sheer size at 48 gig or whatever.

A little trick that works for me when I get what I believe to be a slow download. Pause and Immediately resume 9 times out of 10 you will find a faster server, sometimes it takes a couple of times.

Maybe you can wait the demo unlocks?

It's hard to compare the two because they are going into very different directions with art style, but when it comes to the entire package in graphical fidelity, this probably takes the throne from Horizon Zero Dawn.

Scapes does actually look amazing. I'm just going to spunk my load looking at all the Japan locales....

BUT

I really wish they took off those horrible car brand number plates and let you put real ones in, customisable real life ones, or remove them altogether. Ruins the immersion.

I think it's the opposite of BOTW: the single-player experience is very limited, and your gameplay options are limited. Gran Turismo, from the first title, was always focused on a career/simulation mode, so it's not really a return to its roots. GT was never about being stripped-down; that's what other racers like Ridge Racer were doing. GT was a big departure from that. And GTS is a big departure from that history, for better or worse.

More games need that HDR setup. I think the only other one that I have seen have something similar is Mass Effect Andromeda.

Is it down for maintenance? I opened it and it said server isn't available and I couldn't do anything!

edit: I thought that was supposed to happen but everyone else looks like they're playing...

I mean by going back beyond even the root of the game to the seed. If botw can go back to a basic concept of "the feeling of exploring the countryside" and produce an unencumbered, vital new direction, maybe Gran Turismo can go all the way back to "the thrill of driving a car" and do something similar. To change, but be the same.

Gt sport looks like it backed up right over even the foundations of the first game. Similar to what botw did by dropping souch baggage. Can it miraculously retain the identity of they series despite throwing so much away? We will see.

If you don't touch the controller it'll start b-roll replay footage, which is what we're all doing until the demo unlocks Monday. :p

How Gran Turismo Sport’s ‘Sport Mode’ Actually Works

Daily Races

Online Daily Races will be the most prominent online feature of Sport Mode in GT Sport.

These events will comprise of a certain car class on a specific circuit for a certain time period throughout the day. Players can enter these races as many times as possible to improve their skills. Every day, new events will be available for players to try out.

Daily Races will also play a major part in the upcoming demo on October 9.

FIA Gran Turismo Championships
The partnership between Polyphony and the FIA will see the FIA Gran Turismo Championships as the main esports attraction in GT Sport.

Players will have the opportunity to compete for their favorite brands in the Manufacturer Series or represent their home country in the Nations Cup. These championship events will be held across America, Europe and Asia, with the top drivers advancing to the World Finals.

There will also be live reporting and broadcasts throughout the championship season, allowing players to discover and support their favorite drivers.

Advanced Matchmaking

Sport Mode will comprise of a new Driver Rating system to ensure a level playing field for online users.

The Driver Rating will be the indicator of a player’s overall speed, whilst the Sportsmanship Rating will indicate the behavior of players during online races. Both of these ratings will ensure that players are matched with other drivers of equal skill.

Balance of Performance

To ensure the cars in GT Sport have no inherent advantages or disadvantages, some races in Sport Mode will employ a Balance of Performance adjustment.

These BoP-adjusted races will have vehicle power and weight automatically adjusted before players go out on track. These regulations will allow all cars running to race equally.

Does this play like a traditional GT title or not? I've been reading that the game has some sort of a E-sports feel to it. I need some help because the visuals alone sell me on the game, but I want to know how does it play.

Gameplay will be very similar, but you won't be buying used cars and putting them all in your garage like before. The focus is completely on sports cars this time, though the old cars and 'mundane' cars could come with future DLC.

The scapes are real photos right? The only underwhelming video in the menu would is the forest area. I'm also gonna hedge a bet and say that GT7 is a launch title for PS5/1st year release.

This game is something else...
Im using a standard PS4 with a 1080p plasma TV, and it looks stunning, cant imagine how this looks on a HDR set with a ps4 pro. Nuts.

Seems you can continue playing once it releases.

wow thx now those 43gb dont hurt too much xD (only have 5mb bandwith) so imagine this is pain in the A. xD

For the moment, all we can do is gaze at these wonders.

So, is this a good replacement for Forza? I made the jump from 360 to PS4, that's why I ask.
