Beating king dice with a perfect was surprisingly easy. It’s all about figuring out the mini bosses leading up to the final phase. This game is good.

I mean, once you get a hang of the
dice roll, it's functionally just a 4 phase boss fight with a bit of a cooldown and a chance to heal between each phase, and a hard final phase. No different from Baroness Von Bon Bon who sends out 3 random snack 'mini-bosses' before her final phase. And she even attacks you when they're out.

Cleared Isle III with all A ranks just now. The
Sally Stageplay level was another awesome addition to the game. So creative, I love how they took the basic 4 phase boss battle and styled it into something really clever. Fantastic stuff :)
.

And last up of course was
the phantom train
. Really this one was just down to concentration. The only phase I really had issues with was the last one since it has a lot going on though its still perfectly manageable. Only issue I had was getting a good time on this level, but after a few tries I managed to nail the A rank (though it seems A- ranks are enough to unlock the achievement for A ranking each boss in the area).

Is there an easy mode?
Not exactly. Simple Mode is just like Regular, except it doesn't include a boss's final phase (ex: Hilda Berg's
Moon form
).

I can only assume less health is another factor, because I only played Regular for the whole game, and Expert (after beating the game) adds some HP for all bosses.

You'll be reminded that in order to get a boss's soul contract, you have to beat them in Regular Mode.

I think S-ranking Sally Stageplay on Expert made it not my favorite boss anymore. The annoyance of delaying the fight to get the 3 Parries is real here.

Plus, that second phase,
I really don't know how to deal with that consistently without the Smoke Bomb, getting stuck at the borders is apparently often inevitable.

I died on that stage the most out of anything inn the game. I couldn't understand how to survive the octopus ride. Didn't know there was anyway to keep it from submerging.

They tried to tell you that you could keep it from submerging
by having it shoot the rocks before crashing into them by having it fire on a rock when you wake it up by hitting the anchor but I guess it's possible not to dwell on it too much, especially with those shrimps and clams harassing you.

I couldn't beat Dr Kahl's Robot yesterday with a friend. His black bombs are annoying as hell and not to even mention the third phase.

Any recommendations?

Is the charge gun going to be balanced?

I finally beat it today without using the charge gun or switching trick, but was curious if the charge was intentional. If it is I might use it to try to get some S ranks, but if it's not I will wait.

Beppi
and the
dragon
boss can get fucked.

Been running with peashooter and spread, as well as an extra heart. Haven't felt the need to deviate from that yet. Avoiding the charge shot since people have complained about it being op.

Yeah, charge is getting a nerf and weapon swap is getting a nerf as well.

Ok got A for all the bosses in the first three isles. Funny as I'm looking at the Steam Achievements and the percentage of players who got A for the last two bosses is higher than getting A for all the bosses of Isle Three lol.

Ninja edit: I did try the weapon swap trick at Sally stage and it was fun to quickly change her phases (before it gets nerf).

THe main goal is to destroy his weapons. Problem is when you destroy one he uses a backup weapon that might be even more annoying. I asked for help as well and here is how I did it in the end.

First destroy the bottom part that spawn those ships. Destroying them will have him using the bombs but once you're used to taking them out they're easier to deal with.
Land a few hits on the antenna when you're forced to move up due to the laser as it's going to be your next target. Take out the middle piece last as aside from being easy to deal with that part actually helps you as by parrying it you can fire a good amount of super meter. Just save some before taking it out as you won't get any parry chances later, I think.
Second phase it just being readdy to hit him with the regular shots when he's heading to the left and the bombs when he's going to the right.
As for the last phase just focus on dodging the beams and walls and don't even bother looking at the actual boss. He's a big target and you'll land plenty of hits by just firing while moving around. Use the super bomb during the lul in firing to land big damage.

basically get a feel for which of his 6 weapons you dislike the most, and try to minimize how long you have to deal with it.

me personally, i hate his head laser but don't mind his head cannon, so i take out the head laser first. and i try to take out his center thing last because his hand attacks are annoying.

Favor
your secondary weapon during his first phase, you can hit the chest and belly at the same time and they go down much quicker than with the normal bullets.

(though it seems A- ranks are enough to unlock the achievement for A ranking each boss in the area).
Can anyone confirm this?

Just finished Isle 3. What a ride! I need a break now. How many Bosses from here?
2, Dice and Devil?

The moment the cat springs out of the wall in the Werner Werman fight
is amazing and LMAO @
the end of the fight where it’s revealed that it’s just a robot.
Glad I wasn’t spoiled with either of those.

I'm that fuckboy. I love that level.
I actually really enjoyed the Pier stage in retrospect.
Yeah, I'm trying to get through it all Pacifist like and it's giving me trouble, but I actually like it and am having a lot of fun trying different strategies on getting through it. Lately I've been trying not using Smoke Bomb. I don't think that's going to last...
I think I'm actually really happy that I have to do it over and over to get through it. It reminds me of trying to unlock stuff in older games where you had to play a level a certain way or within a set amount of time to unlock a secret something.

Thanks. This guy's first phase gives me a lot of trouble. I'll give your order a shot later tonight.
Can anyone confirm this?
Yeah, along with other guy, I can confirm this is true. I got 'em for I and II with a couple A- ranks.

I wonder how the nerf will be implemented for the weapon swag glitch. Being able to switch quickly is definitely crucial. Perhaps you can only switch so many times within a certain time period?

Turned off automatic updates for cuphead.

Missing 1 coin. Got the one from Hell, thought I got a hidden one in each world. I assumed I was missing one from the barber shop quartet, but I found the fourth guy and got nothing.

I LOVE this game
Like I can't enough of this game
Beat it but I got a few questions

-Simple is kinda pointless right? I know it was made for like a practice run at the boss but that means people can't really beat it in easy mode since you need the contract right?

-Has anyone tried this on a GPD Win? I played this game on my PC and I was thinking of doing another run during my commute

-how crazy hard would it be to have a run and gun stage before every boss ? I wonder since the developer is on this thread, if they every toyed with the idea like that?

6 Hours, 248 deaths to beat the game
DONT FUCK WITH ME
I HAVE THE POWER OF CHARGE SHOT AND SMOKE BOMB ON MY SIDE
( I forgot to do that one platform level by the robot junkyard on island 3 tho)

Another boss (or bosses?) down:
King Dice. Felt kinda stupid after beating him for the second time and realised that only the final phase counts toward the A rank! On the bright side when I finally got the A rank I had the other boss fights down almost perfectly so I'll never be short of health on that encounter (not that it matters when chasing an A rank).

I personally loved the idea of this fight. The different bosses were short and sweet and almost all were really fun to fight. Only ones I wasn't a fan of were the monkey (I know I'm not the only one on this) and the dominos - who I had several problems with when trying to beat them without taking damage/minimal damage. Its not a hard fight, but I'm just not a fan.
The final stage is fairly straight forward, messed up my parries in the beginning on the cards but I got the timing down after a few tries

Now I've just got the final boss to go, and then its onto expert difficulty!

60fps motion and scrolling looked so weird at first, almost jarring with that artstyle :D

Anyway, game is legit great.

Well done guys, you're now among the top dogs for me.
Beneath the deliciousness of the aesthetics there's a deep understanding of what makes a game fun, challenging and rewarding without being frustrating.

That and of course it's a visual masterpiece.
Looks (and sounds!) unlike anything else.

An instant classic.

Bravo!

I think it's a trash move that the developers feel the need to nerf techniques that players are finding out. The game is still a challenge for many users, so why nerf the weapons? Also, add music test to Xbox One version please? XOXOXO

It's kinda annoying how some bosses can be killed before you even have the chance to get three parries off. You have to intentionally delay the fight if you want a high grade.

I was thinking the same thing, the rankings didn't make much sense to me.

Also, these devs must be HUGE Gunstar Heroes fans. So many little nods to those games.

I'm stuck at 98% and I'm short 4 coins from buying the last item I need. I've finished the Run and Guns (as well as the other bosses). How do I get myself to 100%?

I've gotten an extra coin
by talking to the NPC after I've parried four times in a row. There was also an extra coin I received in World 1 when I went back to talk to people.
Am I missing more coins like this
outside of levels
?

Edit:
I'm definitely missing more hidden coins.

Stuck on the dice game. For me there is just too much going on, having to master how to get the correct dice roll, making as few mistakes as possible in the stages and then the pink cards are so difficult to get, it feels way too punishing. I wish there was a way to practice it because I just cant seem to figure out the timing for the very far spaced cards.

Yeah, charge is getting a nerf and weapon swap is getting a nerf as well.

Why not buff the other moves instead? Bubble feels too weak as it is too unreliable to kill adds and too awkwardly ranged to be useful.

Try the automatic parry charm. It makes that jump onto the first pink card very easy and then from there it removes a lot of the initial panic for making the remaining jumps. The automatic parry charm also helps with the die roll because it'll immediately stop the die when you get near it.

The charm does make some fights harder like the cigarette guy, but you just need to learn to go across the chasm while avoiding the floating cigarettes.

I beat King Dice after the second attempt of switching to the automatic parry charm.

It's easier to get the timing right if you hit it on your way up when jumping. Once I realized that it became much more simple, and I eventually stopped screwing it up.

I jump 2 numbers away from what I'm trying to hit. My percentage of not fucking up is pretty high.
Bosses 2, 5 and 7 seem the easiest to me. Especially with Charge and Smoke. I switch to Spread for Dice.

Regarding the Dice game:
I didn‘t like that the Bosses on fields close to each other were so different in their difficulty. Would have prefered if the bosses in each „block“ would have been around the same difficulty. (1-3 easy, 4-6 medium, 7-9 hard)
That way it wouldn‘t have been so critical to hit the right number.

Did you
collect the one in the Woods on Isle 1? Next to the closest NPC at the Bridge to Isle 2

Edit:

Just found another one!
In front of the Trailer at the end of Isle 2

The dragon is destroying me over and over. The 2nd phase where you have to dodge random fireball while jumping and shooting is the worst part of the game.
