Great new Mario Odyssey commercial

Note: Gameplay primarily featured from 1:00 - 1:30

In the first 60 seconds of it, there were probably like 8 seconds of gameplay shown.
I'm really not a fan of focusing so much on actual people singing and dancing. Focus on the game.

Come on man....there are lots of other commercials that have lots of footage of it.

Amazing commercial although a bit disjointed. It was definitely made for shorter 30sec ads. I cannot stoploolinf at the dancing gifs!! That guy on the right of Mario is just out dancing the whole group besides Mario. He must have been the motion capture actor. I mean those hip and shoulder movements >_<

90s Nintendo is back.
I would have no shame sharing that on my Facebook wall. Very charming and fitting for the US family market.

... Yeah, that pretty fucking amazing!

Can't wait for the release, it'll be incredible to finally play this game!

Oh, and the song is great, don't care what thr haters say :D

I love me some 3D Mario.

I don't like the big band music, I don't like the human world, I don't like the drab grey generic art style.

This commercial just focuses on all of that so I didn't like it.

I'm sure Odyssey will play like a dream, but that won't change the fact that I'm very disappointed with the art direction they've chosen. Yuk.

Drab grey generic art style? Really? Other than New Donk City, it's colourful and gorgeous with a unique style

Have you watched any footage outside of New Donk City? Drab, grey and generic are not the words I'd choose to describe this game's arrstyle.

Not all of it is ugly, you're right. The beach world, and the frozen desert world look fine. But a lot of the game looks bad, like Donk City, or the generic and shiny t-rex, or the jungle world under the trees that's so flat and monotone it reminds me of an environment for a N64 era shooter for some reason. Something is just off, like there's no unified art style and Nintendo often resorted to "stock" images to make the world.

Mario games are not a bastion of great art style. The "New" series is also pretty damn generic. But I'm just disappointed because I thought the Galaxy games were gorgeous.

Lol, it all looks incredible and quite varied from what we have seen. Even New Donk looks pretty good once you get over the clash.

The clashing styles etc are part of the game premise.

In theory this commercial should be cringe worthy but Nintendo managed to make it magical. Great ad.

If you mean the giant trees with the spinning robots, the theme of that world is natural and artificial. They're in a man-made dome housing a fake environment.

Someone help me. I'm very tempted to get a Switch just for this game. I don't know if I should save for more games or just go buy the switch and this game. Gah decisions.

Edit: I also really like the commerical. I can't help but smile.
I’ll help you....buy it. Just do it. Life is too short for regrets. Switch is amazing. Buy it.
buy it

You see, I never cared much about 3D Marios. 3D platformers have never really been my jam either, I was almost shocked how much I enjoyed Yooka-Laylee. I played this game at Milan Games Week. It's fantastic, simply put, fantastic. Every time I see an ad, a gameplay video or something I can't do anything but smile about it. It's just so fun, and what made me simply amazed is how the game is basically unpredictable in how bonkers it is. I did not watch the whole E3 gameplay and such so I only knew bits and pieces of how the city and the desert area go down, but it's like every segment has something new, every area has some secret, every corner has something you couldn't predict. At first I thought I'd buy a Switch around Christmas, but at this point I'll likely pick one up in November. Kudos to Nintendo this gen: I never cared too much about Zelda but the new one looks right up my alley, and with 3D Marios not being my jam either, this one I'm really excited for. With the best Mario Kart ever made also on the console, this'll be good.

I'm so freaking excited for this game!

That being said, I get that the whole clashing art is a part of the "style" but that doesn't mean I can't wish they hadn't chosen to make it look like that in certain parts.

But that totally isn't going to stop me from loving the shit out of this game. Just... The look of New donk city isn't my preference. The gameplay looks sublime though and that's what's absolutely most important in a mario game.

This advert can sell anyone on the game. Been avoiding footage of this - and can see why.

This game is looking to be GOTY just from the footage alone. Zelda won’t be beating this for me 😍 (although damn close).

This looks more fresh than anything I’ve seen from a 3D Mario game. Even the Galaxy games.

Close to getting my pre-order in place.

Edit: and this is how you do lyrics in a platformer. No offence to other franchises - but this is the damnest most catchy gaming song I’ve heard in 2017.

Good commercial, hyped for release.
Funny thing that my "adult" friends are coming up with plans to escape "shame" from buying "kids game", planning about asking the cashier if they can get the game in giftwrap for their "kids", spoiler: they don't have any.

I can dig this.

Buy it online or stop caring what people think of your hobbies. That seems extreme.

It's amazing to see Mario with such a good light on him!

I think if they had a cut of this without the game footage, they could have some good hype among mainstreams on their hand.

Sounds like your "adult" friends have a pretty childish mindset (no quotation marks needed for childish, because it's meant as said).

Sounds extreme and really odd. Mario games are for everyone and are like the game equivalent of Pixar films.

This commercial is so charming. Everything about this game screams “Let loose and have some fun!”. Love seeing Nintendo continue to make things that are happy and full of glee, it’s so cute!

So you think the gameplay footage won't get the mainstream excited? I really doubt that personally.
