Note: Gameplay primarily featured from 1:00 - 1:30
In the first 60 seconds of it, there were probably like 8 seconds of gameplay shown.
I'm really not a fan of focusing so much on actual people singing and dancing. Focus on the game.
that was soo cringy but I like it.
I love me some 3D Mario.
I don't like the big band music, I don't like the human world, I don't like the drab grey generic art style.
This commercial just focuses on all of that so I didn't like it.
I'm sure Odyssey will play like a dream, but that won't change the fact that I'm very disappointed with the art direction they've chosen. Yuk.
Have you watched any footage outside of New Donk City? Drab, grey and generic are not the words I'd choose to describe this game's arrstyle.I love me some 3D Mario.

Drab grey generic art style? Really? Other than New Donk City, it's colourful and gorgeous with a unique style
Not all of it is ugly, you're right. The beach world, and the frozen desert world look fine. But a lot of the game looks bad, like Donk City, or the generic and shiny t-rex, or the jungle world under the trees that's so flat and monotone it reminds me of an environment for a N64 era shooter for some reason. Something is just off, like there's no unified art style and Nintendo often resorted to "stock" images to make the world.Have you watched any footage outside of New Donk City? Mario games are not a bastion of great art style. The "New" series is also pretty damn generic. But I'm just disappointed because I thought the Galaxy games were gorgeous.
This game is the definition of 'jolly'.

Ill help you....buy it. Just do it. Life is too short for regrets. Switch is amazing. Buy it.Someone help me. I'm very tempted to get a Switch just for this game. I don't know if I should save for more games or just go buy the switch and this game. Gah decisions.
Edit: I also really like the commerical. I can't help but smile.
Mario is an fictional character with an American Italian accent wearing Mexican garb voiced by a French descent and created by a Japanese person.I wonder is any american-mexican will complain about this being racist.
This advert can sell anyone on the game. Been avoiding footage of this - and can see why.
Good commercial, hyped for release.
Funny thing that my "adult" friends are coming up with plans to escape "shame" from buying "kids game", planning about asking the cashier if they can get the game in giftwrap for their "kids", spoiler: they don't have any.

Sounds like your "adult" friends have a pretty childish mindset (no quotation marks needed for childish, because it's meant as said).

Huh. I just noticed that the bridge of the song (where Pauline sings Odyssey, ya see or whatever) is the original Donkey Kong stage theme.

So you think the gameplay footage won't get the mainstream excited? I really doubt that personally. It's amazing to see Mario with such a good light on him!
I think if they had a cut of this without the game footage, they could have some good hype among mainstreams on their hand.
