PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

i grabbed Radial-G. it was led by a guy who worked on Extreme-G, Revolt, Pure, and Split/Second....and it has that kind of PS3-era futuristic racer vibe. it's not rocket science, but it's fun. the goal is to hit the glowing green boost pads and not the red ones and get to the finish. there are jumps and tubes that you can defy-gravity around, pads that flip gravity, and tracks that you can fall off of, all while racing ai or multiplayer opponents. i haven't gotten to the weapons part yet. it's $30, it's a little like Polybius but not trippy, the graphics are nice on Pro, and in VR it gives those roller-coaster thrilling feelings

Man... Matt's impressions of Raw Data has me more than curious, but The Invisible Hours is the game I'm really considering. My wife has been itching for something new to play, and she loves mystery/crime-solving/adventure style games.

Has anyone played Invisible yet? Impressions?

PushSquare has a short first impression on invisible hour, he seem to enjoy it and there are pretty high reviews apparently. I'm quite interested too, will wait and see while playing Raw Data. There's a lot of unique stuff here in Raw Data.
On the gameplay side of things I really have nothing to complain, some minor lack of polish here and there but very minor stuff that it will fix itself.
Visual and animation gave me a pretty average first impression but I thought the graphic looked great on later levels, animation is still funky. Which was immediately addressed by Survios that it's one of the Pro improvement. Also after knowing Pro patch is not even present yet, I'm quite impressed with the graphic now. I still hope it will have some visual improvement in the upcoming patch but if they upgrade framerate and enemy animation framerate, im good.

9/10 from uploadvr, around 5 hours https://uploadvr.com/the-invisible-hours-review/

I only have $5 USD. Which of the sale games should I get? Based on past feedback I'm looking at ace banana, but smashbox looks fun too. I'm shying away from pixel gear because I have several shooters already. Would anyone recommend carnival games? Another party game would be nice but a game like that only works if the tracking and feel is on point

Hi everyone, I'm considering buying a PSVR this holiday season if The Inpatient reviews well. Any other games besides RE7 (already own) that are must haves?

Farpoint with Aim, Arizona Sunshine if you have a Pro, Statik, I Expect You To Die, smaller titles like Dick Wilde are great too.
Polybius, Rez are universal recommendation though I never tried them.
Batman and so much more.
Raw Data is really shooting up in my list, rough edges here and there, waiting for Pro patch to give a final opinion but for now, it's great on standard PS4.

This holiday, The Persistence, Bravo Team, Skyrim, Doom, Diner Duo.
And hopefully Megaton Rainfall turns out to be great.

Farpoint with Aim controller
Superhot
Arizona Sunshine (with Aim and friends)

A ton of smaller games are great too, too many to list.

If you have PS+ you can DL RIGS for free right now.

Thanks for the recommendations, do own a Pro and will add those titles to my list of potential buys.

Thanks, will look into the Aim controller as Farpoint did interest me when they showed it at E3. Also added Rigs to my library.

After spending more time with Raw Data.
Yea I would say even if the Pro patch is not enhancing graphic, I'm fine.
Just smooth out animation (which again, was confirmed in Pro patch), this game is perfect.
Right now the game is like 90 fps reprojected or whatever the term is, while enemy is running at 30fps.

Though, I kept messing up some button press when I'm panic, like two hand holding Katana, I kept accidentally pressing start button and shits. The game gets frantic as hell in Normal mode.
Probably won't be an issue with shotgun dude or gun guy. Played the bow guy and it was fun as hell.
*Also for anybody who is starting the game, do not start with the gun guy, he's probably the most boring one, seems like some "first impression" who started with him said Raw Data is another generic wave shooter with same enemy.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Does Invisible Hours have any Pro support? It looks like the resolution is pretty low from the hour I spent with it.

Just started playing it too, very easy to go button dumb. But that's kinda on sony for not renovating their control to have sticks/be more ergonomic. Sony pls, just license the knuckle controllers.

Very fun, picked the gun guy to start off and immediately did this

you can almost do it 1 to 1

Quite easy to get used to. Maybe after an hour you should be fine.
At least for the movement.

Oh wow the later levels are really good. You no longer just kill enemies. Minor spoiler on the later levels:
you will have to defend your tower, while killing enemies, and there's laser shit covered the entire room, you have to dodge that specific square WHILE enemies are swarming you.
Minor spoiler on the level: https://youtu.be/dCF4k48jymc?t=12m23s
Also while yielding weapon two handed is fun, it just doesn't feel as good as holding an actual physical item.
One great example is handling Sniper in Arizona Sunshine with PSMove or Aim. Imaginary gun just doesn't feel right.

And a setup tip for Raw Data standing: Try not to point the camera too low, I would say adjust to head height. There's A LOT of air enemy or shits jumping at you. Nothing much on the ground except for ducking.

Also, crashed the game in an easy way. Just rapidly switched the hand my gun was in. Can probably crash it the same way for all characters

Jumanji: The VR Adventure and likely Hotel Transylvania 3 VR experience are coming to PS VR ahead of the movie releases.

The announcement is part of a bigger multi-picture agreement between SPVR, Madison Wells Media's Reality One and VRX Networks to produce and distribute VR experiences for select Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) films, starting with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

The VR experience will be available through VRX Networks' VR kiosks in movie theaters and shopping centres, debuting at 50 locations across the US and UK. There are also plans to expand to South America, Asia and Australia

SPVR's Jumanji: The VR Adventure will not only be available at VR locations it'll also come to in-home headsets for PlayStation VR, Steam, Viveport and the Oculus Store, although now released date has yet been confirmed.

The new Pro patch for Solus Project make it a must-have IMO. If survival exploration is your thing, it's got sharp graphics, move controls with free movement (which work surprisingly well after you get the hang of it), all in a huge open world, and it's only twenty dollars. Highly recommended.

i noticed it had another Pro patch, it even says "massive" upgrade in the notes heh. i do think it looked a bit too low res when i first played it, i really gotta go back to it and see the improvements. great job by the devs putting more effort into it.

i'm not normally into resource gathering and survival stuff, but it's so different in vr, i loved just waving a torch around and lighting up cave walls heh. simple stuff but cool in vr. i got lost in the cave though and dropped into dark water :E a bit distressing to experience in vr. i just suddenly stepped off a ledge and fell into pitch black water, my torch or course went out and all i could see were bubbles going up. i actually started flailing my arms in panic lol.

I'm kind of surprised. I got Radial-G, Invisible Hours, and Raw Data......I thought I'd be playing Invisible Hours and Raw Data this long holiday weekend, And that Radial-G would be ok, good to have a racer. Instead, Invisible Hours is unplayably blurry (I have a Pro). It shouldn't have been released like this. If 0 is out of focus and 10 is sharp, this game is like a 3.5. I can tell Raw Data is going to be excellent, but the devs said a Pro patch will be out next week and I think it will be good to wait. (It's not as sharp as I would like either.) Meanwhile, I'm having more fun than I imagined with Radial-G. And holy moly, this sale!!!! I just bought Smashbox Arena for $3.99

The Pro patch for Solus makes it look great but I seriously can't play it with moves, it's awful. I've tried but they are too annoying. If they manage DS4 then it would be brilliant.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Can anyone recommend a good tripod or stand for mounting the PS Camera? Preferably something that can ship from Amazon?

I bought this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PAW6AU/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I set the mic holder so it is parallel to the ground, then just rest the adjustable camera stand into it. It's not secure, but it stays in place fine. When I'm done using it, it's very easy to just take the camera off the stand and move the stand into the corner.

(This is with the cylindrical PS4 camera... not sure how it would work with others)

There was a guide several pages back in this thread. I can't remember the details, but I think there were certain aspects that were very un-intuitive, and the tutorial didn't explain it well.

Even one of the devs indicated that the tutorial was inadequate.

Windlands 2 announced during the oculus conference today, its coming out on oculus rift first so I assume it will eventually hit psvr too. Never played the original game myself but just in case there are fans of the game here I'd thought i'd share this here too :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwUPC6BLJAs&sns=em

It now has multiplayer co-op, npcs, boss battles etc

Sold! Really enjoyed Windlands.

Were there no new VR titles released or added to the sale this week in EU? :(

No sale whatsoever, only the deal of the week. Which is odd as there is usually a new sale every Wednesday.

Turn on the option that is on the right side of the options menu, your PDA hand than works exactly like a analogue stick. Very simple to use once you know what but there is no tutorial for it in the game. Holding the move button moves you forward but if you tilt your pda hand in any direction you will move in that direction instead and is very precise.

Kind of wish I had waited for the latest patch before I completed the game now though.

This is so disappointing.

This is seriously a very minor issue and not nearly a deal breaker which will be fixed next week.
Also that only applies for certain enemies for some reason, it's either a bug or that specific enemy has too many spawn so they toned it down for standard PS4.

Is the update next week for sure? If so, I'll wait until I get back to it.

Raw Data looks pretty fucking solid compared to the Vive version. Going to wait until the Pro patch drops; until then I'm playing the Solus Project, which is real good despite wack controls.

Oh my fucking god Fishing Master, are they fucking serious.
Game is very immersive, works well, looks good, tracks very well, seems to have a lot of feature/maps, but here's a kick in the balls.
IT SUPPORTS ONLY ONE MOVE. What is wrong with them...

I really hope the raw data pro patch makes the game look a lot better.

Only the tutorial level/hub level looks rough, the later level actually looks good. I don't have major complain on the graphic itself, as long as they fix the animation the game is perfect.
Here's a random time stamp, the 3rd mission looks great, https://youtu.be/twKwufKdfxs?t=34m19s
Of course this is heavily compressed and it looks even better in VR. Pardon me with the boring gameplay because I was trying to unlock more skills for this character, went in without any abilities.

I keep trying to download it, but the website keeps giving me an error when I try to add it to my cart. I'll have to try it from my console.

Also, has anyone else noticed that since the last firmware update, the PSVR breakout box doesn't sleep when you put your PS4 into rest mode anymore? Kind of annoying.

Mine works fine, but I had that problem like 2 months ago, just some minor glitch that it will fix itself after some time.
Also yea, had that problem for adding the demo in my cart, kept getting error but after logging into my account from PS4, I was able to download it.

I highly recommend Solus Project if you like survival exploration games. The controls take a little getting used to, but once you do, they work great.

Yeah, was going to come here to say just this. That's too bad, because I would have considered it if they had 2 move support.

Yeah, had to try a few times before it would let me "buy" it. Eventually worked though.

The Golden Gate bridge actually looks good, a VERY little blurry but I would consider this as the good graphic side of games, tracking is great too and for $10, i would've bought it until I found out it's single Move. Might as well just wait another 2 weeks for FFXV.

When you say your breakout box goes to sleep, do you mean the light turns red?

Mine is constantly white, even with the console in sleep mode. It randomly turned red a few times over the past 6 months of owning it.

Should it be going red when the console is sleeping?

It should be red when your console is sleeping yes.
You should probably look into it, unless there's something downloading in the back ground, it shouldn't be white, since it will go overheat.

Having the same issue. If you put the PS4 into rest mode, then hold down the power button on the VR Headset, it will shut off and the light turns red. Only problem is now I need to have the headset plugged in and press the power button to wake my system up. Even if I don't want to play VR. Controller alone won't wake it up.

There's something very wrong with your PU, you might want to get in contact with Sony support or try out some troubleshooting steps.
