Alright, I think I'll close up shop on the Diablo challenge tonight.

There are just too many people that haven't enjoyed it. I'm awfully sorry about that, folks. Obviously I wouldn't have picked that combo had I known people wouldn't think it was fun.

I should have a new one up in five or six hours. I promise it'll be more inviting.
No need BT, just leave it to the end of the weekend. Cannot always please everyone and its only few days, enough days left to try something new.

Also have zero problems with the Formula Rookie, it does what I expect that type of car (learn importance of momentum) to do. Tyler maybe it is more in accepting the nature of a car and not trying to fold to your own preference (driving style)?

And stop comparing apple and oranges, aka two completely fictional cars and their options (tires, etc), that makes no sense m8.

Oh wait, I thought you were comparing the Vee. What's this AMS car? Is it DLC?

Yes, it's the Brit DLC.

@BigT I'll try to get at least some time in the Diablo on the board this evening.

You might be right. Especially for the lift-off oversteer. (I still think that on-throttle understeer is not good for teaching)

Have you looked at the pictures, the way the chassis looks, the engine, its hp, weight distribution options, no aero? It's not that fictional. Both PC2 and AMS really are modeled after the Formula Ford 1600 (BSC).

I don't have it - ignore my comparison!
I think AMS has some fantastic content in the season pass, if you like the game, you should pick up the season pass in a sale.

1:21.303 ...says the leaderboard.
I only remember a doing 1:21.356 and that's what I have video of. Doesn't matter much, I guess.

Edit: Oh and yea, PC, wheel, no aids, custom setup
Edit2: found the video, both laps and replay camera of the slower one: https://youtu.be/ZV9k0LOy2UA

That's not what I'm suggesting. Keep manual pitstops, but simply fudge the animations when you are on the jacks.
There's no thing such as simply. The procedures for the different car types and the strategy config is not simple. I would like a more smooth crew as the next guy, but if I have to choose between pretty and playable, playable wins. You could argue you don't need to choose, but development realities say otherwise.

But you don't control the pit crew in pCARS 2. They are already following predetermined animations.

I know they are two different beast, but pure driving enjoyment how did people find GT Sport coming from Project Cars 2? I haven't played the newest Project Cars so I have no dog in this race.

Modes are obviously very different between the two games.

pCARS 2 by a landslide. I am still getting GT Sport day 1 but still.

Run it however you'd like. All platforms/skill levels/aids/controllers are welcome. If you'd like to do a video or whatever, great.

Have fun, and good luck!

I found this combo to be a good mix of fun, charisma, and difficulty. A short lap in a surprisingly reasonably car. Hopefully it'll appeal to just about everyone, and encourage lots of laps. The car has a lot of understeer in it, so being patient is key. I'll be curious to see how much we can fix that, and what it will do to the lap times.

I'm the only person to have set a time with this combo, so let's fill it up with Gaffers.

VR performance just isn't there on the vive. Put in a couple of hours today and no matter what there are awful framedrops. Nearly everything on low and its still not enough. Gonna give it one last try when my 8700k arrives and if that isn't enough throw in the towel on VR till GPU/CPUs catch up.

The RaceRoom car is a mix of some cars. But I think the PC2 Formula Rookie and AMS Formula Trainer are very much modeled after the same car and the PC2 version has just a too high CoG for it to make sense.
The R3E car is based on the Mygale F4, Tatuus F4 and a Formula Ford.

The car in R3E has an added degree of creative licence, oriented towards fun. A Formula Ford was added to R3E before the creative changes and it was felt the real FF could be be nasty on the limit with super fast transitions and not at all a beginners car.

The physics person shifted the weight towards the rear of the car and raised the CoG to slow down the transitions.

Great investigation on the different junior cars though!

Lol, nothing to do with me - I just got caught in the crossfire.
I was shocked to see your comments quoted. I then LOL'd.

Anytime I hear comments about glitches and issues in any future games, I'm going to answer with 'how about playing and enjoying the game?'. Might even request to become a help desk person.

If you´re forever alone at home this Friday night there´s a lobby coming on PC in a few minutes.

GTP Casual Night is the name.

Maybe we can get five or six people to race, it´s already difficult because there´s not a lot of folks playing this game.

People take some stuff a little too seriously when it comes to a $40-$60 investment.

I spend that much on a convenience dinner or a round of golf and that lasts a couple hours and then it's gone.

To put so much emotional investment into a game that will continue to evolve may mean that they might want to lower their expectations as to the value of $50.

Ian Bell seems like a horrible person to represent his game and he needs to shut the hell up and there are flaws in the game but my god people are frigging relentless and it is kind of disturbing

I found it super fun, it felt great with a controller, the graphics and lighting are impressive, and the missions were surprisingly addictive. I didn't think i was going to enjoy it as much as I did.
It's nice, it's very nostalgic to play a GT game again, I haven't played one since 4.

It'll be a lot of fun comparing like cars and track combos in GT, pCARS, and AC.
Man a time to be a racing fan on console, some great games finally here after a few years.

Holy fucking shit, I just had the best online race in my entire life!

It was a GT3 race at the Nurburgring GP circuit. I qualified 11th out of 24th in the McLaren 650S GT3 due to joining late in qualifying and not being able to put in a clean lap. The race distance was 20 laps with a mandatory stop and I braced myself for the first turn. I had a fairly decent launch and moved up to 8th. I was looking to take a very wide line around turn 1. You'd think in a 20 lap race people would take it easy on the first lap but evidently not. Someone spun another car around and the spinner speared into my side. Full Damage was on, so my car lost a lot of downforce. I dropped from 8th to last when I pitted for repairs at the end of the first lap.

After exiting the pits, I found myself 50 seconds behind the race leader. On the plus side, I had a clear track ahead of me while everyone else was slowed down by battling each other. I settled down into a rhythm of knocking out some consistent lap times. Others had damaged each other and I passed them as they pitted or limped around the track. After getting past all the crashers, all I had left was several more consistent drivers.

I don't know what happened, but all of the leaders pace was deteriorating and I was gaining up to 2 seconds a lap. Some cars made themselves extra wide when I tried to pass, but a car with much better pace was getting by no matter what. At the penultimate lap I was P3 and 8 seconds back, and I knew I wasn't going to catch the top two. I thought to myself, "That was one brave effort!"

I approached the NGK chicane to start the final lap, and the top two transported to the garage after crossing the line. They didn't take their mandatory pit stops and got disqualified! I cruised to victory with a ten second margin. I was shaking, I couldn't believe it, I made up 22 positions in 20 laps. It was a fantastic feeling. But apparently that Herculean effort only improved my performance rating by 8 points.

TIL: Never give up!

Found what my VR performance problem was. I was wondering why I was constantly getting 45FPS or lower framerate even on all low settings. Turns out I had supersampling in the Steam developer settings set to 5.0. Lowered in to 2.0 and the game runs smooth as hell on medium settings(ultra smaa) and reprojection is kept to a minimum. Performance is way better than Dirt Rally for me, considering I could only ever get near constant 90 on all low settings and the game looked worse.

The game is really difficult though, and it really does feel like I should be using a wheel, but it's still doable with a controller. It just feels like the game is harder without it.

Granted I haven't driven even close to all the cars, but this FR 3.5 is the best car I've driven in the game thus far. When the FFB, and chassis and tire physics are all working in harmony, PC2 can deliver a car that stands toe-to-toe with any sim out there. Here's your proof.

The combo is a good match giving such an awesome feeling of increased downforce the higher the speeds get.

My lap was not the greatest with messy sectors 2 and 3, but unlike the last challenge, at least I'll have plenty room for improvement during the week!

I'm in agreement. Before the demo I was think to myself "meh this sounds like it will be a complete failure, call me when they make GT7". I only tried the demo due to my need to try every single racing game out there (good and bad) to get my own opinion and then my reaction was "wtf this is actually pretty great". Completely caught me off guard. It's not prefect but it does so so many things excellently that I went and preordered it and can't wait for the 18th now. Now that they've taken the servers down I really miss the game, and that's a very good sign.

I thought Forza was going to be the game that would complement the like of PCars, AC and R3E but there are so many issues that I have to wrestle with to try and have a good time. They just haven't improved it in the areas I deem to be important, the fastest I've ever put a Forza game down.

I still have F1 2017 sitting there waiting to be played properly as well :/

Make it your life's mission to get a wheel. I can't even begin to imagine what a head-fuck it must be racing in first-person VR using a joypad..! I might try it later if i need to purge my lunch. Seriously though, a wheel will transform your VR sim racing experience. You'll not only be faster and more accurate, but immersion will also go off the scale.

Some bugs gone but other came with the patch on PS4. I m goig to get a refund next week. Buying GTS at launch, demo was awesome (loved the single player too). Actually i ve played single player mostly in the beta

First time in the Formula Renault (and I don't drive many open wheelers). Took me 10 minutes just to get around the first corner!

Hopefully I can get a 58 before the end of the week.

Shit, caught lurking. FeelsBadMan.

I just don't get this game (just like all other games except iRacing).

Can't get the car to stop and turn in like I do in iRacing, every corner entry I lose so much time because it just doesn't want to turn :(

Thus, i'm embarrassed with my times.

Does this game have something similar to SR in the GT Sport demo?
Everyone has a safety rating U,F,E,D,C,B,A,S with S being the safest. Things that effect safety rating rating include colliding with others (both cars are effectrd), getting penalties, unsafe pit exit, hitting objects. The host of lobbies can set whether only people with a certain safety rating can join.

It's a good thing to be able to filter out the ner do wells, it's just a shame they don't have any developer sanctioned servers, as the rating system and sanctioned servers in GTS works really well.

Yeah, would be nice to have some SMS community events be races at certain times of the day. The safety and and performance rating limitations seem kind of pointless when applied to time trial events.

Going back to the conversation we had a while ago about Assetto Corsa, I'd say the front end of the cars in this game make more sense to me compared to AC, however it's the braking in PC2 that wigs me out a bit. I think I described it as "a magic carpet ride". It can be extremely vague, like you're hitting a "brakes" button or something. If iRacing feels like a load cell, PC2 feels like a potentiometer. You have to do more memorizing of how to brake, rather than just feeling it.

That said, I've since discovered that, to at least some degree, it's car dependent. That V8SC from the first challenge felt so vague to me, whereas the brakes on this FR3.5 feel nearly as good as you'd find in iRacing/rF2/AMS.

Hand in the air however, I'll freely admit to not being able to adapt very well to sims that don't come from the very familiar trees those games do.

I don't know if it's the same issue as I get with acceleration, as it happens when braking too.

The car 'shimmys' left to right, it makes it feel very vague, I also get the shimmy or weaving under low grip conditions, that same vagueness also.

I think what they are trying to convey is the torque affect you get when you lose grip, but I feel it's over the top.

In many cases, some of the cars really make sense, but driving the LaFerrari back to back in PC2 and AC is quite an experience, the AC one is grippy and planted under braking and acceleration, but the PC2 car is really nervous.

Try chaning the controller damping setting or even steering sens. Something weird happens with sensitivity if you are not close to 50, cars are way harder to control. Same thing for accell/breaking sens.

Damn there's so much content in the game, it's a shame it released 1 month too soon.
Was driving career, unlocked invitationals, then moved on to the ginetta races, unlocked affinity, started that event, but first you have to prove yourself and then if you win you unlock the 3 ginetta events.

While I played the GT demo and it is the premiere racing game for PS4 I'm pretty satisfied with PC2.
One thing I love is the huge track selection, most of them I don't know so just learning the track is equally fun.

If only PC2 also had PSVR support, that's also the only reason why I would still buy GT at launch despite being super satisfied with PC2 right now.

Danowat, have you tried tweaking the controller settings post patch yet?
I think I have been bitten by the over sensitivity issue now. The save wipe resets this right?

I mainly care about the size of online multiplayer, which community is larger for this game: PS4 or PC?

I'm trying to figure out which version to purchase. Thanks.
