Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch |OT| Starving for a Harvest

Haven't read anything on it in a bit but the crackling audio issue is popping up more often for me. closing the game after saving and restarting the only solution thus far?

Look, the game always has some kind of activity or cutscene for the season events, why would I think to leave now after being conditioned that something will happen before I leave?

All events so far start and end with the mayor and so far I can't talk to the mayor
relax dude, just giving you a hint. There's nothing beyond the maze, no end event.

Spirit's Eve sucks even worse the 2nd time! Exact same thing. You probably win back the same damn pumpkin that you sold :p

The other festivals are better as you can have some input with what you bring or a competition.

I missed Halloween because it starts at 10. I headed over there around 9 and put it down to wait. Waited a few seconds too long and get over there at 12 and it’s already over. In real-time the event lasts ~1 minute 20 seconds

No big deal. Should have just quit and restarted the day I guess

I bought Stardew Valley today and I like it very much. Super relaxing and charming video game.

I'm still at the beginning and need to find out the mechanics of the game (especially about my energy, when to sleep or to eat and how to properly invest into my farm), but I let it just happen instead of looking up instructions or walkthroughs.

Define “multiple”. I planted like four or five hundred crops on day one of Spring Year 2. I pretty much always stick with watering can until I can craft 20+ Iridium sprinklers. But then I have a ton of gold and haven’t had anything meaningful to spend it on in ages.

Watering can upgrades are probably more lucrative, but if you’re already bought everything you care about, low-effort income might be fine for you.

I meant like... 5-10 sprinklers LOL.

I'm a fisherman, so farming has been a lower priority to me. Maybe I need to think bigger for year 2...

Two quick questions:

1.I need 5 beets for a quest but have no idea how to get the seeds. I don't have access to the area that sells them yet as that apparently comes later. Any tips?

2. I have some ancient seeds but they take 28 days to fruit. Do they not die after the season change?

Thank you for any help!

1. Beet seeds are available at a store later in the game (desert area). Occassionally available at the travelling cart too! Might want to put that quest on hold.

2. Yes they die, so you need to stay on top of it (or grow them in the greenhouse).

Okay cool thanks! I'll keep trying the traveling cart then.

Also, I didn't know the greenhouse was a thing. I'll look into it. Thanks again!

Bought this on a whim and loving it so far, its a little overwhelming what to focus on each day with so little money/energy.

But i don't want to spoil myself with guides and will just play it as i feel.

Is a fast travel option enabled later ? seems like its going to be lots of slow walking back and forth every day.

I bought this today too. Kind of overwhelming at-first. One question, though.

I might be doing a bad job explaining this but here goes:

When you have a full inventory and you pick up an item and you’re in the inventory hub, is there not a way to cancel out? I feel like I’ve tried every button combination to cancel and it doesn’t work. The only option was to throw an item in the trash to free up that inventory slot.

I honestly don't think so. I've been caught in that situation before too. You seem to have to pick at least one item to destroy.

If you have "console controls" unchecked you can drag the object outside the menu and drop it.

The console controls are a little buggy at the moment. The dev is aware of it though so it should be patched soon.

So I'm about to go hard and build a barn and coop since winter is coming and I still want some money to be made. Is taking care of animals as simple as pet them each day and put hay in there slot? Is there any other tricks I should know?

For winter, not really. Hopefully you have a decently stocked silo or two, as hay will eat into your winter profits if you have to buy some.

You also need to ensure you have a heater placed in each coop or barn or the cold will slowly drain their mood and weaken their produce over the season, even if you pet them.

The only animals you want to avoid for winter are pigs. They're the only animals that produce zero profits during winter. If you're just building your first barn and coop though it's more something to keep in mind for later.

Yes. You can also let them outside to eat grass although not in winter. With the coop you'll also have to collect eggs to be sold, turned into stuff, or (if you have the bigger coop) incubated to create more birds. With cows, you also need to milk them. But it's pretty simple, doesn't take much energy, and you get a nice income from it.

IIRC you also need to buy a heater for winter.

So do you slaughter/sell pigs at the end of fall and buy new ones in the spring?

Currently I only have 1 silo early Fall and nothing else, how much hay does each animal need is it one per day or x per day depending upon the animal?

Where can I get a heater?

Can Robin do multiple work at the same time? Like coop and silo? Or is it just one at a time?

EDIT: Just one at a time. I guess I'll go coop first before barn.

EDIT2: How about moving a building? How long does it take? Is it instant?

I don't, but I went with coopmaster so it would take me probably half a year to get a new set of pigs back up to full friendship, so it just isn't worth it to me. I may not keep them period, but I just wanted a few to get some truffles for community center and some quest stuff done.

Animals eat 1 unit of hay per day if they can't eat grass outside. So you should need at least 28 x (number of animals) in your silo to get through the winter. Depending on the number of animals you buy into you may need to just buy some hay from Marnie during the winter at 50g per unit. Marnie also sells the heater units in her shop.

Moving a building is instant and free, yeah. Only thing I'd say is to try and move (or build) buildings early in the day before you let your animals out. The animals do count as occupied space so you can have your building blocked by a chicken or something if it decides it doesn't want to move.

I need to vent. Have already put 25+ hours into Stardew and have been keeping it in sleep mode when not playing. I have this Elite Player backpack that carries my dock, cables, and 3 pro controllers. Never know where I’ll be located for the job, plus might visit friends or family between shifts.

Nintendo, why do you make your pro controller trollers socsensitive?! I had my back pack in my lap while using the Switch in table top mode looking through my friends list. Decided to set it down and all of my pro controllers turned on and moved the cursor through the menus while clicking buttons.

Note: I did not throw or manhandle the backpack. I lifted it up from my lap and leaned it down.

I look up and somehow the controller clicked on my friends Mario Kart hours and said “ yada yada Start game?”. I was like “Oh no!” but the controller still clicked A on itself. Next popped up “Do you really want to close your game?” I was determined to not close it so tried my best to gently let go of the backpack and let it rest on the chair. What happens? It clicks A again and closes my game anyways.

Why do Joycons take a double home press to start but pro controllers are so sensitive?

Did my Winter 13 over again, this time doing everything except giving a tool to Clint for upgrading. Didn't crash that time... I don't even know.

I saw a post somewhere saying he/she crashed if something got taken out of the fridge and there are space left between items. Now, I sort everything in every container and inventory so there are no spaces when I go to sleep. 10 days and counting, no crash yet

Hey! Need some help here. How the hell do I get to 1 willow lane? (Or 2 willow lane?)

I take the path to right where it should be and it spits me out way past it. I go back through and I’m spit back out past it again. I just spent an entire in game day walking around trying to figure out how to get to those houses and I can’t figure it out. Any help please?

Those are the 2 houses in the bottom left of the main/centre town map. They are 1 and 2 Willow Lane.

Then maybe it’s just the map acting weird because when I’m at the bottom left houses, the map shows me being further over to the right. Then when I take the exit to the left, it shows me past those 2 houses. I can never get my character to show up on / near those houses on the map. It’s confusing lol.

It's all about finding out (or reading up) what they love. And granting those gifts on their birthdays.

Each heart is 250 "friendship"
Talking to a villager gives 10 friendship each day.

Giving them a gift on their birthday is gives up to 800 friendship in a single day (80 for a gift they love, x8 birthday multiplier, +25% if it's gold quality)

Figure out the loves of your fiancé-to-be; but don't bother handing out random gifts to villagers before year one, where you'll have easy access to universal loves (like diamonds), that you can just gift each villager on their birthday.
