Gran Turismo Sport demo coming Oct. 9

I hope GTS illuminates the real racing ”game", that iRacing did for me. Online racing with safety/sportsmanship rating that facilitates consistent competitive racing is the best thing that has ever happened to the genre. People sink the cash into iRacing for a reason. All things being equal, nothing beats wheel to wheel racing with another human. If GTS can bring that to the console masses, then it is a success regardless of its flaws. Racing needs concequences. I have won every race, golded every event ever in all GT games. Yet, the first proper online race in GTS where people raced clean, and I bested the person I was battling with, eclipsed all of those achievements. iRacing is hard, and I don't have the time like I used to to perfect my lap times and remain competitive. If I can have an equally fulfilling but more casual experience with GTS, then I expect to be playing this game weekly for a few years.

I'd like to randomly shill for the game and mention how refreshing it is to have a title where regardless of pre-order bonuses from version or retailer, all the same content is available in the end with normal in-game currency. Looking at you, Ubi, Activision.

Very true. Also this is the first big PS4 title I can remember this year that didn’t lock exclusive pre-order content to the PSN version. Ironically this is one of the only times I’ve ordered on PSN.

Do people complaining about content realize this game is priced lower than most new releases?

$79 AU on the PS Store. Forza 7 cost me 20 dollars more on windows.

Not priced lower here in the States, it’s a full $60. I honestly think for the amount of content we’re getting that $30-45 would’ve been the right cost. But I guess they think people will buy at full price.

Very refreshing that it's going against trends with all pre-order bonuses being fully available in base game. And there being no microtransactions. Good job!

Yes. I see it this way too. I think Polyphony is moving the genre forward, much to the chagrin of the old fans. I never tried iRacing, and by the impressions online, it's not for someone like me. I'm more of a casual racing enthusiast.

This too. I can't stand pre-order bonuses. Just because people aren't blindly giving publishers money shouldn't be a reason to restrict or limit the content for post-launch buyers. I'm fully supporting the approach PD is taking here. Based Kaz.

Despite the lack of career mode hate, it is the most anticipated PS4 exclusive according to this thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1446899

And it's ranked 9th in the US Amazon rankings. So sales might still be decent. However, it looks like lots of people are going digital.

I recommend the GT Omega stand over the Wheel Stand Pro all day every day. Costs $100 less, built like a tank, folds down small as well, and way more stable with the dual uprights compared to the single upright wheel stand pro.

Hm, and you've tried both? I currently have my T300 bolted to a WSP but I am not crazy about the middle post design. I also have it on a hardwood floor currently and feel like it needs a bit of extra support to not slide forward.

Yes, I convinced a friend to get the WSP back in the GT5-GT6 era, so I had some time with it back then. It is good, but the wobble was always there when doing aggressive counter steering. For $100 less, the Omega is the better product imo. The WSP can fold smaller for sure, but the Omega can still lay pretty flat and is much more sturdy when deployed. I even got the shifter addition for free with my Omega order. I would love a full cockpit, but it has been the best addition to my racing setup since I first bought a wheel with GT3. I also like having the my feet open to all positions and not battling with a post between them.

Downloading now, let's go Wednesday!
The peasant European late launch day can suck my balls in Kevin Magnussen's language.

How's G27 VS T150? Durability, quality, FFB... I already have a GIMX setup for an old g27 and it works, but the on-wheel controls suck since they don't follow standard PS4 layout and having to use the PC for GIMX is super inconvenient.

I'm considering selling the g27 to get a T150 (anything else is out of budget). Buying a Raspberry and setting up GIMX on it is also an option, though.

You can map wheel buttons to whichever button you want. It's in File > Edit config in the GIMX program. GT Sport in-game also has full wheel button mapping.

Hm, I'm pretty sure I paid like $180 for my WSP so the difference isn't that much. Not that it matters to me now considering I already have one, I suppose.

I may just go up to a cockpit setup honestly. Looking up some reviews for cockpits from this same site after poking around a bit, particularly this one:

Yeah I think my friend paid about the same, but it seems to the price has gone up. If I want the same WSP setup as I have with the Omega, it is a $100 difference.

NICE, they just installed some demo stations with the new wheel across my office, have never used a wheel before, if this is legit I might have to get one.

Only 2 more days! I'm so excited for wednesday, it really can't come soon enough.

What I'm looking forward to the most is booting it up for the first time and the inevitable godlike intro movie along with some glorious music.
That's always one of my favourite moments in any GT and I love watching those intros again and again and again and again...

Please let there be an awesome intro.

Are the pre order and limited edition cars only available to those versions? Or can they be purchased in the game with in game credits?

Simplygames pre order shipped....but i usually get that notification after midday so it *may* already be on it's way for delivery today.

Multiple finger crossing commences.

Where do they sell fully GIMX?

They don't. You can buy the USB converter part for 30€ directly from the GIMX website or build it yourself by using their guide if you have the tools. Parts are about ~15€ with shipping.

https://blog.gimx.fr/shop/
EDIT: Link was already posted

Additionally you need either a Windows PC running next to your PS4 + Wheel or a Raspberry Pi or comparable Linux device. The Pi3 works well as it allows you to use Bluetooth to connect the PS4 controller for authentication with a little tinkering.

If you want an all-in-one solution that is basically the same as a GIMX + Pi (minus the open source and DIY fun) you can also get a DriveHub. It costs about 20€ more than the GIMX setup with a Pi.

You can extend the Omega stand into a full cockpit setup. It's modular and they sell the seat frame on their website as well as a monitor rack.

So I got a reply from fanatec

My question was explicitly whether in the event the CSL Elite PS4 wheel doesn't fully work with GT Sport after aome significant time, would that be considered grounds for return and refund..

You cna return the products according to our return policy in 2 cases:
- you have 14 days (after you will receive the item) to return it , without telling us the reason for the return
- the item is defect.

Here you will find more Information:

So basically it isn’t grounds for a refund?

Ah well I’m sure they’ll figure it out unless Sony has some stupid deal with Thrustmaster.

15 kb for SVG files is so-so. A good, SVG file with many colors usually skews between 20 - 80 kb. A high-quality Firefox logo SVG file lands at 139 kb.

Looks to me like you can send it back for return without giving the reason.

After some advice - need a wheel for GTS, have a Logitech Driving Force that obviously isn't compatible with the PS4

Do I buy a new wheel or go for the Drivehub? Would not want to spend too much - so looking at the T150 or poss T300 - are these a significant upgrade on what I have or would I be happy with the drivehub and my current wheel?

Is it worth the extra £££?

Sorry my bad, should have specified. But beyond the 14 days, because that is standard for everything.
No problem, I missed that the first part said 'if it doesn't work after some significant time'. I figured it meant if it isn't supported at release.

SVG files can be compressed optimized further by editing it by hand or via online tool... open your preferred SVG file in a text editor and paste them here:

https://jakearchibald.github.io/svgomg/

Thanks for this!
Squished a 15.4kb logo down to 10kb

Some limits do have to be placed, otherwise load times would balloon when you in every single online race would have to download hundreds of MB's worth of liveries.

Then limit the number of total layers or something rather than making me disassemble and reassemble my artwork.

I have been using that site like mad for the past few days and I currently have over 120 (and counting) decals ready to go.

I've just been frustrated because all of those logos I've nabbed off the web and recoloured but the one or two I haven't been able to find any usable files for I've decided to have a go at making myself and I've been struggling with keeping the filesizes down even with tools like that.

I decided to pre-order the digital deluxe version. I don't mind paying the extra monies for the lm55 and the livery stickers, all the other vehicles and avatars are a just great bonus for me.

One more day to go folks!
