Gran Turismo Sport demo coming Oct. 9

yup, going by skills, it should take about the same time length to get through all the campaign missions in GTS than previous games at launch.
No matter how many times you say this, it isn't going to be true.

If you're talking about going for gold, the license tests in past GT games would easily equate to at least half the time it'll take to do stuff from the campaign in this game. And the go-to GT game some people like to compare this to due to a similar car count and it being the first one on a new system (GT3) that was suposedly light on content, had more tournaments than the number of missions in challenge mode alone.

Bring GT4 into the equation and it's not even a comparison, as it had a special mission mode on top of the career mode, which is basically what the challenge mode is derived from to begin with. Challenge mode is not a "new take", It is an extension of GT4's missions, and GT5 Prologue's events.

Unlocked on Hk PSN. I went and tried VR right away. My whole head was sweating and I felt very sick . I’ve never tried drive club, so this is my first driving VR experience. The textures were very underwhelming in VR mode as well. Probably the first and last time I’ll play the game on VR

Chew some gum while playing, seriously, it works.

I had incredible motion sickness while playing driveclub, tried the gum method and completed the game.

I’m a VR veteran and the only games that made be nauseous were drive club and dirt. Racing games seem tough to pull off without proper feedback.

I'd recommend giving it at least one more shot in a few days time, sometimes knowing what to expect can make a big difference.

Strange how things have turned out, from all the praise for Forza 7 and hate for GT Sport before release and now it turns out GT delivers way more than expected and Forza 7 has let some people down.

I certainly think GT Sport will review much better than most expected now, because the demo was excellent.

I doubt it. I don't think reviewers will really grasp what Gran Turismo Sport is meant to be. They're going to pan it for the lack of content and weather, point at Forza which has tons of content and weather, and completely ignore how revolutionary Gran Turismo Sport's online focus can be. I expect it will end up in the mid to high seventies, albeit with quite a lot of variance. Reviews of sims are always way off mark and this will be no different.

I believe GTS will be over 86/83 of Forza 7 and pCARs 2.

I even said that before Forza 7 Reviews released.

89 is my prediction.

I genuinely think that GT Sport is going to take a DriveClub approach and act more like a platform than a finished game.

DriveClub got rain and snow post release. I could see GTS doing something similar, get the game out and then start refocusing on adding content.

I'm all for enthusiastic peeps, but no...it won't average out at 89...I would love it to ...but in 2017 things are a bit different...

Same conditions selection from the demo, so no rain.

How many more times are you going to ask this? you'll get the same reply...which is no, rain is not is from the start, but i imagine it can't be too far away given the evidence we see tus far...

Would be nice if they pulled off a Driveclub and get rain in and make it look stunning. The solid performance of the demo hints that at least they might have some leg room in performance so it's not unfesable.

Lincolnshire Police Force have tested using GT Sport as a police driving training tool
In an effort to seek out new ways to help train police drivers, Lincolnshire Police Force have been using driving game GT Sport to help their drivers improve their skills in a safe environment. Through a partnership with PlayStation, officers set benchmark laps at Silverstone, took to GT Sport to practice the course, and then completed a second benchmark, comparing the two.

After practicing, officers shaved off up to 5.7 seconds from their original lap time, collectively saving 14 seconds together. To practice, they played GT Sport with driving wheels normally and in VR, using the game to test the limits of their driving safely.

This is all done with GT Academy, which is a yearly contest where players compete for the chance to train and race with the official Nissan racing team. Whether the Lincolnshire Police Force will continue this form of training into the future isn't confirmed, but Shaun West, Assistant Chief Constable for Lincolnshire Police Force, did praise it as an opportunity to add on to existing training methods.

That would be nice, locked 4k and 60FPS with everything PS4 gets over the next few years on disc/download.

Did rain suddenly become teh benchmark for racing games? Is it the best condition to play in?
No, especially since most races tend to either not take place in rain or are severely slowed in the worst conditions, but it's nice to include those things. Especially dynamic weather.

It's fun, and it looks great.

most importantly I want shiny reflective surfaces for my car photography sessions ok

You have that with wet conditions though.

I "think" part of the ....delay if you will...is rain will probably throw a number of curve balls into the driver rating algorithms...sliding out, colliding with others unintentionally etc etc on top of the gfx performance hit such a thing would inevitably bring...

Might be a rain/weather focus campaign ready to go, but not with a 24 car grid....might be half that for example...

all speculation on my side of course...

I don't know, seems to be a lot of positive buzz after the demo. It could go either way of course but I think it might surprise some people.

Yes it has content issues compared to Forza but the other stuff it does, it does very well, so it could help it review better than expected. Content alone should not define how good a game is though, so hopefully it will get fair reviews.

There's still the single player challenges, arcade mode and new single player races that will be added.

You should give online a shot though - it's not as bad as you think and with the rating system you'd hope that you'd be placed in races with even opponents
I was of the same mind, but then I played an online race in the demo. Now I can't go back.
I enjoyed the GTS campaign in the demo more than GT6's. It's only a matter of how many more endurance and actual racing events they have in the later parts of the campaign now.

Thank you for addressing this.

When I talk about SP, I'm more interested in the events, championships, and tournaments with various limitations (PP, classes or manufacturers). That also requires a good car roaster and I really prefer to drive road cars. The 25-ish or so that are in the game are a good start and more are coming, which is great. But you have to excuse me if I'm being more cautious when it comes to this franchise and things that are supposed to be delivered per patch or DLC. Not to mention that we don't know much about the pricing yet.

I didn't have the time to make much progress in the demo (would've been great if it started during the weekend). But from what I've played it didn't seem "better" to me in that sense. That's why I want to wait for reviews first. Not really interested in the score, but more about the info on the structure of the SP content. Cars would still be lacking, though.

As for the MP, I'd definitely give it a shot at some point, much like how I did in GT5 and 6, but I'd still play SP content 99% of the time. It's just not for me and that's fine. It doesn't need to be nor does it shift the focus away from MP and esports. But at least give me standing starts in all SP races where it makes sense.

Despite the demo being good, the problem remains of low car count and uninspiring single player modes. I expect meta score of around 82.

Gran Turismo 5 is sorta to blame for that. Fans took every chance they got to actually get a dig on Forza with that. The F1 games have always done a great job of actually make it an interesting part of the racing, other games do it just to prove they can a lot of the time.

Pretty sure the platform approach was the plan from the beginning

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I'd much rather have dynamic ToD than weather conditions.

This absolutely. Forza 7 annoyed me in a LOT of ways, but the dynamic shifts in time(and weather) between laps was a fantastic move forward.

We don't need such drastic swings like F7 occasionally did either(like daytime sun turning to blind thunderstorms in lap 3). Even minor subtle changes with lighting and cloud coverage shifting as afternoon or early evening set-in made races feel more alive than static, which really does add a lot to those of us left wanting a bit more life to the proceedings.

Yes. I see it similar to Destiny 1.An addictive demo and a super sleek game. But if we are serious offline content is even poorer than Assetto Corssa. That has at least custom championships.

I would guess low 80's high 70's. Of the late 2017 racing games, GTS will have the best sales, lowest reviews.

I've come to grips with reviewers not liking the same games that I do, so, this is fine.
