I think the SR reward for driving well in wet and rainy conditions should be more (perhaps twice more) than dry conditions, but keep the penalty point should remain the same. That would be good risk/reward balance. People will take risk of hitting someone or getting hit by someone in wet races because they have opportunity to rake up positive points for driving couple of clean sections.

Of course they have to add rain in the game first.

Amazing how none of the cars from the first part are in the game...

Yeah, kinda odd why they would use that kind of opening. Even weirder when they have included some studio type shots from the old cars...when in the game itself like 90% of the cars are from 2010's. Really strange choice.

Well the intro has a theme, it’s the history of Motorsport and then it shows GT Sport as the next step. It’s not that hard to work out.

No matter how many times you say this, it isn't going to be true.

If you're talking about going for gold, the license tests in past GT games would easily equate to at least half the time it'll take to do stuff from the campaign in this game. And the go-to GT game some people like to compare this to due to a similar car count and it being the first one on a new system (GT3) that was suposedly light on content, had more tournaments than the number of missions in challenge mode alone.

Bring GT4 into the equation and it's not even a comparison, as it had a special mission mode on top of the career mode, which is basically what the challenge mode is derived from to begin with. Challenge mode is not a "new take", It is an extension of GT4's missions, and GT5 Prologue's events.
I’m talking about my own personal experiences mate. I usually skip every other GT as I feel it’s not necessary and the one time I did it with 4 I was already tired of the formula

GT- played it to death
GT2 - skipped
GT3 - played until final cups and supercars 1 mil credits
GT4 - bored after a good 50 cars collected
GT5 - got bored after a good 60 cars collected 30-40 hrs
GT6 skipped

So yeah, I’m speaking from a perspective that’s simply tired of that long and tedious rags to riches campaign mode and love the new streamline one. I honestly wouldn’t have played the old formula again, I literally did it 3 times already lol.

The challenges are going to actually keep me engaged in the game, and at the rate I was hitting golds, it’s certainly going to take me a while.

If anyone is interested there's a German steamer about 20 minutes into a 2 hour night race on the Nordschleife 24Hr layout. He's fast but driving clean. I think he has mechanical damage on. It's a very good watch.

You can find it under streams through live broadcasts under the game icon from the menu.

Despite the demo being good, the problem remains of low car count and uninspiring single player modes. I expect meta score of around 82.

It is not uninspiring though, it actually pulled best parts of past 2 GT games like licenses, missions, track intros (like Mercedes/Nurburgring thing from GT5) and whatever Hamilton is up to. The demo had tiny portion of it available and it was already 6-8 hours long.

I don't skip them exactly but I do fine myself only playing the odd numbered ones a lot more.

GT1 - Plated to death
GT2 - Played it but didn't quite get into it.
GT3 - Adored this game. Played it a ton.
GT4 - I played it once and didn't touch it again.
GT5 - Probably my most played game on PS3
GT6 - With PS4 and Xbox One coming out I didn't really bother to play it much at all.

I am excited about Sport but it's a different beast. I think it's an intriguing idea though.

The game is startable in HK but I am not exactly happy about these 2 screens, either tell me they are not ready to open and delay the opening or just let people play as is without constraint

kaz keeps saying they are gonna add more cars lol...why would they exclude certain ones for a stylish into?

yeah very similar...I think this one will hook me again, I just really hope one of the first dlc cars is my beloved Honda Accord and Camry and a few more Subaru models.

I’m itching for a PS4 racing game and trying to decide between this and Project Cars 2. Haven’t played a GT game since 2, enjoyed both Forza and Horizon on 360, but tend to lean towards more sim than arcade. How does this compare with PC2?

I didn't realise the PSN version included 60 avatars until I downloaded the game last night. It's not that I really need 60 GT Sport avatars but I'm not going to say no to them.

ethomaz, don't go and bet on that. You are going to have bad time.
I already had a bad time when I said F7 will end at 85 meta even after the “early” reviews showed 93 meta :D

This seems highly unlikely considering how content-light the game is.
It is a matter of quality over quantity.

It is not a baseless assumption in my view... GTS looks to be the most quality and polished GT game released in the last 2 decades? The engagement is there.

So I expect good scores... it is a new/fresh experience that will drive better scores than previous games.

I believe even Edge will give a 8 or 9.

Hey does the beta we all downloaded unlock into final version if buying digitally? Or do we need to delete beta and start normal preload.

Getting this digital on psn store. I still have beta download though forgot to delete that.

Probably already answered but no it doesn't. I left my PS4 in restmode overnight and Digi deluxe shows up as a new instance on my PS4.(currently at 51 gig)

Dude GT4 you are missing out on some great stuff

I love GT3 but 4 is miles better.

Preferring and being more engaged with the SP Content present in GT Sport because you're tired of the old GT career modes is one thing. The amount of time it would take to go through it is another (which is the part of your post I was referring to).

A person with the same skill level going through past GT game's career modes and the campaign in this game would spend a much longer time in past GT games because there is a lot more content to get through (unless GT6 had significantly less content, the only GT game I haven't played due to the time it came out).

Can't believe so many people skipped GT4 and 6 by far better than their direct prequels.

So dirt cheap I'd still recommend going back to them.

So where did you find out what the remaining 75% of the missions are that we don't know about yet and how much time they take to complete?

I hear that. I wish they would release it as a PS2 on PS4 game.

I really want Tourist Trophy as well but I imagine there are rights issues with the music and maybe even some manufacturers.

They suffer from being the second games of the generation. I tend to burn myself out on the first and the second shows up late enough in the gen that I just decide to what for the next one. I'm not surprised they are the better games though.

It's easy to figure out with the way the demo was structured and the stuff they showed what the rest of the content entails. Even if the rest of the remaining stage 7 & 8 missions in challenge mode are tournaments it still doesn't match up to GT career modes of the past.

Also, if you think that's not a valid way to determine things and want to call me out on this then you should be calling Omnistalgic out on it as well.

Yo that intro video is a massive tease. So many amazing historic and vintage cars, none of them in the game! (to my knowledge) Fucking hell, it would be amazing to have more of those cars and some historic tracks. (Old Monza and Spa please) They showed Watkins Glen like 10 times, they really need to add that track asap. It has had so many different racing series there, F1, IMSA, Can-Am, Indy, NASCAR, and American Endurance Race series. It is a great track with two configurations to suit different race events.

Damn. Next you’re gonna tell me we can no longer race on the moon...

I would be very surprised if all of the content in that intro video didn't get added over time.

I am going to miss the rags-to-riches taking a cheap car and upgrading it RPG element, but I played some Driveclub last night and wish GTS would have something more like that for its offline content, with collections of offline "tours" that are specially designed races. GTS vaguely stabs at that with its challenges, but they felt more like Hard Mode rather than interesting races.

Also I was driving in Driveclub's dynamic weather last night... that's going to be the benchmark for me. If Polyphony doesn't meet or exceed what Evo did two years ago with weather conditions, it'll be a failure in my eyes. I guess I don't understand why a AAA studio like Polyphony is launching with so little content and features though. Even the Garage feels barely there, which I'd think would be an area where they'd want to show off their car models.

Damn. Next you're gonna tell me we can no longer race on the moon...

Uh, many of those cars and tracks are in other racing games already. Pretty reasonable to expect things being featured in the intro to be in the game. Likely DLC, but still would like to see a few more vintage cars in the game at launch.

Ha, looks like I have a copy out for delivery this evening. Didn't realize I had more than one preorder and missed cancelling it.

I was joking and on your side dude. Totally agreed that I want more variety and goofy stuff. Really bummed out the pure current Motorsport is what we get as well.

Ah sorry, tone is hard to determine in posts sometimes. I think GTS should stick to pure racing stuff. Let the goofy celebration of everything automobile go into a spin off series that is car porn / car pokemon with tons of campaign stuff.

I genuinely think that GT Sport is going to take a DriveClub approach and act more like a platform than a finished game.

DriveClub got rain and snow post release. I could see GTS doing something similar, get the game out and then start refocusing on adding content.

I've been saying this for a long time now. It's the Driveclub model. This will be the first GT game that gets released on the very same day the next console generation starts. They'll update the textures and have it running at true 4K/60fps. Watch.
