so a fun detail.

with that 3 run home run to end things the champ series has finally scored more runs across all teams/all games than the last cubs/nats game.

Maddon, when asked about Davis: "'Cause I really just needed him for the save. We needed him for the save tonight. There was limited- he had limited pitches, was one inning only."

Managing for saves will always be dumb.

So he managed for the loss instead.

Big difference as much as the bullpen, is the Cubs offense is inspiring no fear. Even as the Dodgers are held to a run, there's still fear of Puig (3 walks), Turner.

I don’t think Schwarber’s going to work his way into this series at this point. And Bryant’s a shell of himself this postseason thus far. Nevermind Baez hasn’t gotten a single hit in 17 AB’s and Heyward is Heyward (also hitless)

Ah, the Buck Showalter defense.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
That was so fucking awesome.

This team has been FIRE all season long.

That old timer catching the ball at the end perfectly mirrored my dad's elation.

Fun fact: Being Cuban born Torontonians puts us in a funny situation fandom wise. Back in Havana our boys wore blue as well
INDUSTRIALES!!!
and now got the Jays to rep
LOL
but by far the biggest swell of pride is seeing Puig grow and mature with the Dodgers.

Really cool to see Turner in his moment of glory give "Yassie" props for staying cool at the plate.

Really, winning ass team.

Nice of ESPN to specify what "This" is.
A walk-off home run?
A walk-off home run by the Dodgers?
A walk-off home run by the Los Angeles Dodgers?
A walk-off home run by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs?
etc.
But, that's ESPN for you. Garbage.
It's one of the most iconic moments in baseball history. They shouldn't need to spoonfeed.

I'm aware of Kirk Gibson's home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series off Dennis Eckersley.
That doesn't, however, answer my question.
And that should be obvious from my list of 4 different things of which both images meet the criteria.

Roberts is managing circles around Maddon in this series. The key difference for LA is that they have developed a good bullpen and are not afraid to lean on it. In the past Roberts probably reverts to "workhorse" mentality and leaves Kershaw and Hill in. He also wasn't afraid to go to his best reliever in a tie game. I have no clue why, in that situation, the highest fucking leverage situation, Maddon goes to John mother fucking Lackey over Wade Davis in the 9th.

Yeah I won't understand his logic in this situation if he was holding Wade Davis for the save. There wasn't a guarantee of a save situation. Keeping Lackey in against Turner is one of the biggest playoff blunders a manager can make. Especially since Joe said Wade had limited availability. How about putting Wade in to extend the game to the 10th needing only one out instead of taking the L in the 9th.

I'll say this: Lackey has a history of dominance against the Dodgers in the postseason. My guess is that played a role in the decision.

He has a more recent history of being a garbage pitcher who gives up a lot of dongers and has never pitched on back to back days. I would have gone with the recent history.

So, hey, anyone feel like answering this other than wise-guy up there with the useless answer?

I'm sorry ESPN killed your father but they really didn't need to specify anything. Image on the left is one of the most iconic moments in the history of baseball. Image on the right was also a memorable moment on the right. Its the 2nd Dodgers walkoff postseason homer in their long and storied franchise history.

Can't believe that game 4 and 5 are at 5pm Eastern.

I thought America LOVES the Yankees and shit enough to be on Prime Time?

It'll run into primetime though. Better ratings that way than having everyone watch at midnight like these Cubs/Dodgers games are going to turn into.

So including while in Brooklyn?
In all rounds of the playoffs?

Also, assuming that's the case - the image didn't make that clear at all.
As you can (hopefully) see, there are many variables that can be in play.

And also not sure why the repeated attempts to make it seem like I'm not aware of Kirk Gibson.

It seems like every day that there's something in baseball that's like "This hasn't happened in 567 years"

Who's that guy who writes articles like "PlayerX is the first player to have A doubles, B triples, C batting average, D slugging percentage, E Home Runs, and be under X height since Cap Anson back in 1437"? Is that Kurkjian, or someone else?

Haha, that's one of the best parts of baseball, though. "Sure, he has an ERA of 7.35 but it drops to 0.20 when facing lefties with runners in scoring position in a month with two full moons and humidity of 10% or less!"
