Gran Turismo SPORT | OT | Putting it all on the line

Brandon F

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Has GT ever had paid dlc? I never looked at it but I assume so as they had paid demo's. :p

Nope. GT6 had the ability to buy credits with real money if you just want quick access to buying certain cars, but that's it.

Game had lots of patches and some free content updates with them.

(Edit: I guess maybe GT5 had them as per a prior post? I only played GT6 where everything was free)

You mean the person who bumped you secured a 'green' SR icon?

I mean if it's an inconsequential tap then there should not be a penalty but if a bump induces lost time or position then a time penally should be enforced. I just hope that 3 second stamp on that screen isn't indicative of a 'standard' for anything bump related.

On another note, Driving School lesson 32 is a horrible lesson in corner cutting. What where they thinking?

Oh...and my prize car is a Mazda GT3. Really happy with that. I can already tell which cars I won't touch with a barge pole so far doing these Driving School tests.

Every time I got bumped in the demo I would either get no icon or the orange/red icon. Today, I got bumped and I was still able to get a clean sector.

A lot of people seem to use their PS4s offline it seems.

I think Don Mattrick said something one time about people being in submarines and not being able to connect online. So maybe GAF has a huge sailor demographic we are unaware of
:)

Anyways though. The impressions and reviews have me super stoked to get home tonight. I think I might hold off on actually racing online though to 1) get better practicing and 2) to kinda let the community sort itself a bit with the sportsman ranking.

I'm gutted. All day at work yesterday I wrote '17' as the date, and so ended up thinking this was out today. Went to the shops to get it at lunchtime and realised it's the 17th today...

That offline no saving thread is a dumpster fire. I mean PD could have done a little better job marketing this game as Gran Turismo (SPORT) and explained this is about racing, about competition.. its a racing league MMO basically. I am so happy its going in that direction but I can see how someone who just likes the start from the Civic and move on up, etc etc would be disappointed.

Question for those who got the game today and have PSVR: When using the VR mode does this also contribute to credits, miles (daily rewards and points), driver level, etc?

So there's rain after all. The patch 1.02 probably turns on all the wipers lol.

Hopefully they'll eventually update all the tracks with weather.
As good as it is to get rain in a racing game, I'm really liking what they've done with the fog here. It's something that so often looks really bad in games.

I do really hope that a heavier implementation of fog is also possible.

Its never been hidden, it's been discussed many times, I'm sure people just didn't want to accept it.

I think we will see several levels of rain intensity

Maybe that’s true. I mean I always knew what it was all about but a few of my friends and a lot of people online are acting shocked by all of this.

I guess that’s their bad.

I do wonder if the weather is still a work in progress in that we'll get it in certain tests but it maybe won't be introduced to the wider game until a later date. Ideally it would be nice to have multiple wether options on all the tracks and different times of the day.

I think because it's happening in real time that there shouldn't really be any tracks that they can't implement it on so I am hoping that we'll get new start times for races at a later date too. I suppose the only thing stopping them doing is that they have to manually put the work in to do that.

Yeah I'd imagine there's probably still performance issues to be worked out with. They got their priorities correct this time at least, 60fps first.

With GT5 it's the case of trying to cram as many features as they can and the end product suffer as a result.

Anyway I'm fine with it, they can and should take their time. I still prefer dynamic tod to weather tho :p

Douchebag. Yes, me.

I asked earlier, and someone said "yes" but didn't elaborate.

Can someone explain what exactly is gained when you do a race in VR?

Heh, I guess it happens. Just hope your job isn't managing inventory or something like that ;)

Why do people want to drive sooooo fast in heavy rain anyways?
To commit suicide?

In a real-world setting it would scare the shit out of me, but they engineer race-specific tyres for competition in rainy conditions. When you're scheduling a whole field of professionals to compete in huge (expensive) venues, you can't really pull everything last minute when it gets a little wet. There are safety limits, no doubt, but rainy weather is part of motorsports.

And in videogames, it looks fucking rad.

I read some people wondering about the GT-R Safety Car, or Pace Car.

I just got it by
completing all Driving Licence tests with Gold medals
.

Was going to go digital last night...

But then I went retail and paid $48, had $20 in credit from previous preorders, and got some Gran Turismo fuzzy dice

Here is to switching disks

So my collectors edition hasn't dispatched yet and I decided to have a chat with Amazon, they say they don't have any in stock and apologised.

Anyone else have the collectors editon ordered with Amazon?

Yeah I understand that. And I am happy that the rain / fog is in for GTS.
Just saying I don't really see the point of having a pouring level of intensity here.

I love the feel of driving in the rain. The noise the rain makes on the hood and roof of the car is something I have enjoyed as a kid. Also, the reflection of brake lights will look brilliant in HDR. I love it in Forza 7. I get that chill when racing in the rain that I usually get when it's pouring rain outside.

Yeah, it's not the best condition for racing but the atmosphere is second to none.

Excuse my ignorance as I've only played a few racing sims extremely casually in the past, but some of these beginner license tests are really stumping me for some reason. I'm trying to just complete the "Try Turning a Corner" part and I go to watch this video of someone going well beyond 110mph whereas my game feels like its locking me to 60mph when holding down accelerate. Like I'm not even overturning as drastically as the person does in that video. Please tell me I'm just glossing over something because my god does this make me feel dumb.

Make sure auto-braking is turned off under options, and then make sure you brake early (but just enough) and then accelerate out of the turn.

EDIT: Heh, KPH vs. MPH. That'll do it.
