Mario Odyssey digital = 51$

All the reviews so far(edge and famitsu) seem to indicate that Mario Odyssey may not score as well as BOTW. BOTW had 40/40 from famitsu. Mario Odyssey may score very high, just not as high as BOTW which was what I was getting at.

For Nintendo to push for a sales of Mario Odyssey before its release, there has to be justified concerns that the expected initial sales number is not going to be met. I would imagine a highly anticipated release like Mario Odyssey, Nintendo's own sales forecast relies heavily on critical reviews.

This has to be a joke post. I mean, what? Hottest of takes.

Getting mine almost for free at Best Buy. GCU + $10 coupon you get for pre-ordering + $25 in reward certificates for buying items over the months at Best Buy :)

this is not what I wanted region free for. I hope nintendo does not go back to region locking to avoid people getting the best prices.

that being said this is neat if they can ignore it and take the money

I'm gonna get it on a gamecard, retail/physical for €49.98

If nintendo released an e-shop app that would enable you to install physical games onto the SD card or internal memory, i'd instantly buy it though. Not being able to switch between games on the fly, is the biggest downside from buying physical.

it does not care where you are..Japanese address is enough

I did input a Japanese address. This is what I get.

So is it different when it's a pre-order?

Sorry for my incompetence, but can I buy this from Italy and receive it in mail without problem? It will be translated (at least in english)? Thanks

It'll be in English at least.

Yep:
- set up an Amazon.co.jp account with a Japanese address
- then add your Italian address afterwards, as a separate address
- buy the game, setting delivery to your Jpn address, and billing to your Italian address
- buy it with your debit/credit card
- when you get the game code by email later this month, you need to make a new email address then a Japanese Nintendo account with that address, then find out how to enter the amazon code in the eshop and do so
(- alternatively you can change your Italian account to a Japanese one, but this is more of a hassle imo. With unique accounts you can swap in and out of stores quickly and easily)

Then once the game is downloaded/installed you can play it from any of your accounts (including your personal Italian one).

I did input a Japanese address. This is what I get.

So is it different when it's a pre-order?

Go to account settings and set a new billing address.

Make it a japanese one.

Set it as default.

Then make a new billing address that's your real one.

When you buy the game, if it gives you that error, click on "Change delivery settings here" or w/e, and choose the Japanese one from the drop down. (I can't see this dropdown offer on your screen - it might only show up on desktop, not mobile.)

Proceed with sale.

Profit

Source - just had to do this two hours ago myself. It's v awkward.

This has to be a joke post. I mean, what? Hottest of takes.

39 people out of 111 gave BOTW under 10/10. Thats 35% under 10/10. This is 1 person out of 5 giving it under 10/10 so far. Thats %20 under 10/10. That’s a 15% increase of average scores compared to breath of the wild. So if my math is correct that would put SMO at 98; one point above BOTW’s metacritic.

Obviously his math is wrong. Pre-order re-confirmed un-cancelled.

Pretty good deal for digital.

I went with the physical at BB with Gamerclub.

20% off purchase + $10 reward cert + Cappy collector coin.

.

Aw crap, I'm about to click "buy" but didn't consider this. This would mean I don't get any points on my Nintendo account, wouldn't it?

Although I'd still get to play it early...

edit: And it comes out to $64.52 Canadian, so I guess I'm saving enough money that I could just buy whatever eshop game they're offering to make up for it.

Japan accounts are separate. Need to create new one.

That's not true, i use the same account in Amazon.com and Amazon.co.jp

Edit: sixteen-bit and Naked Snake are correct, sorry for the confusion, you need to sign up again, even if you use your default account details.

If you change the region of your account to buy the game, you'll get points on it. You don't have to make a new account.

Yo thanks SomTervo, but I was an impatient dummy and didn't want to leave bed, so I used a VPN. LOL

Still thank you for the advice. I'll use it next time for something like this.

You might have signed up with the same email and password on both accounts, but they are separate.

The orders and addresses are, but i didn't need to create a new account to access Amazon.co.jp

Edit: i did some verification and i think i did exactly what you said, i signed up with the same email and password. Sorry for the confusion, i stand corrected.

This amount of trouble does not seem worth $8. And I already have a JP account and a friend's address I could use.

So I went through all the steps, I created a JP Amazon account, bought the game, etc, but at no point through any of these processes did I receive an email. Not to confirm the account creation, not to confirm the order, nothing.

I checked to make sure my email address is correct, and it is. Any ideas? I just want to make sure I actually get the code when it's sent out.

Just FWIW posters on here (including myself) have many times found Amazon's release day delivery to be unreliable. So I would make sure to keep on it and bug them 1-2 days before to make sure it's really going to arrive on release day. (Or just go with this digital deal.) Just my two cents, hope it's helpful.

I always see people say this and I've never had a problem with Amazon except with Pokemon Sun where I ordered it 4 days prior. I bet that putting down a preorder earlier helps against that. Not defending Amazon, as it sucks that they do this but just something I noticed.

Two years ago I would have said the same thing. Now Amazon misses deliveries left and right, not just for games. They've become extremely unreliable.

They had at least two major flubs this year with fulfilling Zelda/Switch and SNES mini preorders, let alone the delayed shipping they seem to have all the time now.

Thanks, but I'm talking about billing address. I got the shipping address sorted out already.

Go to your account settings and add your normal billing address (there's an option for international addresses you'll probably have to click).

Thanks for the help to people in this thread BTW. Bought! (Saves 15$ in Canada).

If you preorder the game physically on amazon you already get the discount which is 48$ when it ships.

In the U.S. btw

You'll also pay sales tax, which of course depends on your location. In my case, the sales tax basically ate up the benefit of getting the physical copy.

I also used my Amazon Visa card, which gets another 5% off. Cool, if it works!

Just wanted to ask again, did anyone who did this receive account creation/order confirmation emails yet?
