Destiny 2 PC Preload Now Live! (36GB)

It redownloads the whole game even if you happen to have the files from the beta. Bah.

Can hardly wait for next week, though!

I saw an update for D2 popup but I didn't see any sort of installation process.

Anything that can be done to trigger it? Should I uninstall the Beta?

edit: i checked for updates and it says it's up to date. I would like to think I would have noticed a 20+GB install?

Take this with a grain of salt but people were sayin the Asia version on CDKeys ($39) works globally for battle.net. Battle.net redemption usually works across all region with one product key.

Hm can anyone here confirm that lol. $39 is great but I'd hate to buy and have it not work for me (NA region)

Does Gamestop sell blizzard wallet cards? I have some leftover credit and would rather buy a blizzard wallet card so I can preload instead of buying a physical copy. Can you even buy Destiny 2 with a blizzard wallet card?

By blizzard wallet card , do you mean the battle.net gift card? (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074F562BR/?tag=neogaf0e-20)

If so, gamestop doesn't sell them I'm pretty sure (Doesnt list them on their website), and yea you can buy destiny 2 with those gift cards. You can even buy destiny 2 with World of warcraft gold

Yes they do, and yes you can.

I bought $60 worth of cards ($20 each) and pre-ordered the game that way.

Regarding the 68gb file size they listed:

PC players, just spare yourselves & go play any other game. D2 ain't worth your time.

Thanks for the shit post but your opinion doesn't really matter to me

Just curious Strakt, are you an alt account of yoshichan? I think you're the only person that's ever come across as excited for a game as he does/did. I think you've made every Destiny 2 thread I've seen for the past month or more. Literally every time I see a new Destiny 2 thread I go "oh, Strakt made another one". And I've been right litterally everytime when I check the op name.

I don't mean anything bad by it. I'm honestly just kinda in awe that you can be that excited for a game. Makes me feel like I've never experienced true hype for a game. Like the women that enjoys sex but doesn't get orgasms.

Nothin else to play on PC; might as well post about a game I am looking forward to rather than a game I'm not remotely interested in.. it only makes sense right? I like to post about games I like/interested in rather than shit on games I dont like

I got this for my PS4 Pro but I really just got bored with it. I’m thinking however due to how well the beta was received I might buy it again for the PC and hold out for more content since the PC version will be vastly superior in many ways.

What do you guys think? Should I do it? I’m not shit posting by the way I’m perfectly fine with the game in general just wish it had more end game content.

Has anyone verified this for sure works?

also wanna see the answer to this.

otherwise, the physical copy is $12 off if you buy on Amazon and have prime, and the release date delivery is Monday which should give people with capable internet the time to preload before the game unlocks. I dont see any prices cheaper than that

Gamestop does sell them. 20,50,100. I know this because I used credit to get 150 last week.

Keeping the beta installed paid off. Now I'll just have to punch in my code when I get my physical copy woo.

Tortuously early preload - it's like they know I quit playing PS4 version last week in anticipation of finally diving into crucible long term with PC release. I'm actually happy I double-dipped even after being massively disappointed with endgame progression because now I can go into PC version with zero expectations for the PvE content and just focus on PvP. I'm hoping the meta will be more interesting / aggressive on PC due to more accurate motion aiming etc and more customizable control schemes. Hand cannon, how I have missed thee.

I emailed them when they were sending them out and got no response so far

Humble Bundle hasn't sent out keys. I talked to them about two weeks ago about the status on the key distribution. Hopefully when they get back to you they'll have a time for us. Keep us informed!

Downloading at 150-200 KB/s, right after an Overwatch update just downloaded about literally forty times as fast. Yikes. Glad I started this now.

Personally, it feels nice to see someone on GAF who's actually not constantly berating D2 for whatever reason. It's a breath of fresh air, really...

I realize that D2 has its faults too, but I can see past them, especially playing alongside the people from my clan. More than anything else, that's what D1 and D2 have always really been - a good time with good friends.

It seems OCE is considered APAC but I can't quite confirm it entirely. It is currently $49AUD for us which is $10 cheaper than JB HiFi and at a price point I might consider despite the content lacking.

GMG employee on Reddit said "We take the game off sale whilst we send out keys, it should be back on sale in a few moments and keys will be delivered instantly from here on out for this title."

Yeah stops people buying the game while they are handing keys out and getting one before someone who ordered earlier.

Are you implying that those that are critical somehow can't see past the faults?

It's weird to call it a "breath of fresh air" when there's a lot of positivity around the game, even on here where there is probably more than the average amount of negativity overall.

So what is it about D2 that's burning out people faster than D1?

What changes have been made that are allowing people to 'get all the good content' in just a couple weeks or so? I remember D1 being an endless but addictive grind of RNG and waiting week to week for raid resets and new vendor sales. What happened?

Content will be the same in both versions. Personally it doesn’t make sense to me to double dip on a product you just bought and are already bored with. I’d wait for a dlc pack or two before double dipping.

Where are you seeing the $49AUD version on Cdkeys? Vpn needed?

A couple of things, in my opinion.

1.) The weapons aren't exciting. Gjallarhorn was overpowered without a doubt, but it was an exciting weapon to get and use. I think the weapons, and loot in general, seem kind of stale. The weapon handling is still really solid, I just think design wise they aren't really interesting for the most part. I don't find most exotics all that interesting either.

2.) There's really nothing to chase after once the player "gets" something. SInce RNG rolls don't exist and there's really nothing else to substitute for it, there's really not a whole lot to chase after unless you really like a certain gun that you don't already have, there's really not much to get. Even with the events that they have had, I don't think they've really added anything substantial to the game.

For better or worse, that depends on the player of course. Personally, I think it's still a fun game but I feel like Bungie went too far away from the RPG stuff in their game that I think it feels like it doesn't actually serve much of a purpose. It might be better than vanilla Destiny 1, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as post-TTK Destiny 1.

Did anyone else's D2 beta delete itself automatically after it ended? I definitely don't remember manually uninstalling it after the beta ended but it's not installed on either of my drives....

How do you know if the beta files are still in your computer to remove them?
There should be a drop down menu in the launcher’s Destiny page that will let you switch to Destiny 2 Beta if you still have the files. It looks like the region/server select drop down menu.

Or at least that’s how it looked like earlier today before the preload went live.

These are all good points, I've enjoyed my time with D2 but there are definitely issues and like you said it feels like a step back from where D1 finished. Though hopefully with time D2 can become something a lot better.

Now that the loot chase and content has slowed down one thing I've been trying is not using the standard go to guns (mida, namless, gift etc) and experimenting a lot more with different load outs and weapon combinations. Forces you to change up your style and although some weapons aren't exciting on their own, when paired up with another weapon that suits your class perks it can be a bit of fun. Though the class perks and systems has been simplified too much.

Looking forward to seeing how people react on PC and how it effects the pvp meta.

So, can anyone confirm if this works? South American pricing is significantly higher than that.

The client is downloading a 30+ GB Destiny 2 file, but I never purchased the game. Did I somehow end up with a free copy, or is it just going to prompt me to buy it after the download is done?
