Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

The story mode in this game sounds great! I loved the Budokai 2 map and it's back wow.

That board game mode is way too underrated. Loved that mode so much. Is it going to be similar to that for FighterZ? Only glimpsed the scan earlier but that sounds awesome if it is.

I coulda swore the recent western demoing has been PS4.

EDIT: When they brought American and Canadian YouTubers in to play the game back in August it was the PS4 version.
Oh, well I guess you learn something new every day. But wasn't NYCC's build demoed on an Xbox One?

The videos I'm finding are, but that doesn't mean MS has the marketing. If MS got the marketing I really doubt the version that YouTubers were brought into play would have been the PS4 version.

I'm glad the developers are following the Smash/Sakurai school of bringing characters with unique/interesting movesets regardless of popularity. From the looks of it, Ginyu kinda controls like Captain Commando in the old MvC games, using the other characters as special moves and Nappa might be like Sentinel.

I like the roster so far, even if I would have liked 17 as a separate character. If they're doing characters with wacky moves I think Gotenks is almost assured at this point. And if we already have Yamcha, there's hope for Mr. Satan.

It seems to be more like they need to add in all the mandatory popular characters, so they make up nutso movesets for them for variety's sake. It's not like they're adding Chichi or some Red Ribbon Army guys.

In regards to whether or not HxH would translate well to a fighting game, here's a really good reddit post that addresses that.

Heaven. I could see Arcystems doing a HXH fighter one day. I remember Hunter X Hunter scored #2 on a Koei Tecmo poll on what Manga franchise fans would like to see as a Musou next. HXH is very popular, and the demand is still high for it.

Paris Games Week is the first week of November, then I think PSX is the only remaining event before the end of the year?

The question though is if Nappa and Ginya will be ready by then. You can argue that Tien and Yamcha probably will be set by November if they were shown off earlier in Game Informer, but it is difficult to say if they will be shown off outside of a trailer.

As for PSX... I wonder if they would be crazy enough bastards to use PSX to showcase the "Super" characters like how they used Gamescom to show off the SSB Saiyans? It is entirely possible after all since (unless if we get one final trailer in January) it would be the last trailer we would probably get before the game came out in February
in Japan.

Chances GI has Nappa and Ginyu before October is up?

Something tells me that if GI got the chance to be the first people to show off Nappa and Ginyu, either they were being held to a rather tight end agreement to not talk about this (even before it was revealed in the scanes) or someone would have blown the lid on it already saying that they got to try out four characters instead of two.

Either way, I'm doubtful if GI got the chance (although I wouldn't mind being proven wrong).

But here’s the question, PSX or Jump Fiesta?

But here’s the question, PSX or Jump Fiesta?

Ah. Now that is the fun question to have answered, isn't it?

On one hand, Jump Festa runs Dec 16, 2017 – Dec 17, 2017
On the other, PSX runs Dec 9, 2017 – Dec 10, 2017

Which event would be more relevant to Dragon Ball FighterZ and showcase any possible new details if they are a week apart? Would it be teased at PSX and then revealed at Jump Festa? Or would it just be shown and playable at PSX and then also playable at Jump Festa with nothing else revealed?

It is difficult to say, but it does make for some fun speculation on what ACS is going to do.

DB is one of Jump's biggest properties. It will 100% have a big presence at Jump Festa. If there's anything at PSX it will just be a new trailer with gameplay of the previous (November) reveals.

I think more than 2 is possible/probable for Jump Festa, but I don't see them staggering the reveals across the month. Jump Festa already lines up with roughly the same time in the month when the previous reveals have occurred. It'll be like Gamescom.

In this post he makes a moveset for the two characters that have had movesets in multiple crossover fighting games.

Then lists a bunch more characters where he concludes multiple times that he has no idea how they would be adapted and balanced for a fighting game

soooooooooooooo

Edit: That said the Tonpa moveset is dope lmao

Starting to think the characters introduced in Super will probably be DLC. Makes sense. Rest of default roster will be Z characters we don't expect.

That or movie characters will be DLC.

Beerus will absolutely be in the game and I think Hit and Black are very likely.
I wouldn't be surprised if the DLC is also focused on Super, just like with Xenoverse 2. Movie characters (outside of the inevitable Broly announcement for this game) seem like they'd be more likely in the sequel.

Most of the Super characters that have a chance of getting in the base roster would bring a lot of hype to the game. It's very likely we'll see those reveals closer to launch so Bamco can take advantage of the additional hype. They don't need that hype 4 months out.

I'm asking if people want him. I do!

I'd like to see Mr. Satan, but I'm skeptical he'll make it (even as DLC). Out of the "normal" humans, I think Bulma, Future Mai and maybe Chi Chi have better odds of making it in.

Beerus is almost certainly in the base game, considering how the space arena with Earth in the background was in the reveal trailer of FighterZ. Now, if he gets revealed by himself, or with a Z character then you should worry about the Super cast.

I wouldn't, if Hit and Black are in the game I'd bet they are revealed together, and I wouldn't expect there to be anymore Super characters beyond those 3.

By "introduced in Super", I"m talking more about Hit, Goku Black, and any of the fighters from other universes. Beerus was first introduced in a Z movie, so I didn't count him as introduced in Super. I fully expect Beerus to be in the base roster considering where the story takes place and he was in Extreme Budouken.

The universe 6 saiyans are so great, I really want all three in this but I realize even just Cabba is unlikely :(

Hit and Black /have/ to be in though.
