awww thanks.

we're grateful and it was really gratifying to see RCPS4 sell so amazingly well. Love Ratchet & Clank.

couple fun things coming soon - just wrapping up an art of the franchise book that Dark Horse will release around February next year. It's turning out great.

Also if you're in Los Angeles - this 15th Anniversary Event should be a good time:

It's a really consistently fun and dynamic series, even after all these years. Even the franchise's worst games (Deadlocked, PSP titles, and All 4 One) aren't all that bad.

Insomniac is a great developer, and I always look forward to whatever they're doing. Sony really took up the mantle of delivering great platforming experiences in a time in which Nintendo wasn't producing as many (Primarily due to having let Rare go). Shame Ratchet really was the only franchise to continue with its regularity. I hope we get another Ratchet, as well as another Sly.

That's awesome. Going to be around the area in that time frame, will check it out!

Ratchet & Clank PS4 sequel announcement ? :)

Crack in Time finally make playing Clank a good puzzle game rather than a break from normal gameplay.

It also brought back some good UYA weapons.

The remake/film game was the first in the series I played and it was one of my games of the year last year, if not the top. Ridiculous amounts of fun, I played it enough to get the platinum and then proceeded to get platinum trophies for the ports of the PS2 games on the PS4 while I was at it. Was burnt out after that, but I'll definitely get back to finishing the series after that. I've heard particularly good things about A Crack in Time.

Bring on a sequel, too.

Yup, A Crack in Time is sooo good.

It's criminal how the future trilogy hasn't been remastered for PS4.

Yeah, I'd really like these to get remastered for PS4.

We also need a new PS4 sequel to get announced!

I only really like the first one which is basically Spyro in space.

The rest are downright shooters and I hate them because of that. Apparently A Crack in Time is less of a shitty bullet sponges grindy wave shooter but I couldn't be arsed after slogging through 2 and 3.

Up Your Arsenal is my favorite too, OP. GC is a runner up.

Crack in Time to me has a better arsenal and way better story than ToD. Easily the best story in the series.

I still find ToD more fun to play simply because of the level design though.

Anyway, some gifs...

One of my favourite franchises. I only got into console gaming with PS3 and the R&C Tools of Destruction demo, which was one of the first games i played, blew me away. I played it over and over until i got the game. Loved the PS3 trilogy and played some of the older games since then.

I still hope we’ll get a new game sometime in the future, either on PS4 or future console generations. Good sales on the PS4 game will hopefully make that happen.

I like them occasionally. To me they're too similar to want to try them all. I started at 3, loved it and continued on to Tools of Destruction, which was coming out soon-ish at the time and didn't like it at all. It felt like paying the same game over again. I did play the remake and liked it but mostly because it was so long ago since I had played one. Now that I've played that one I have no desire to play another one again.

I dunno, I feel it stagnated quickly. I still love the first few games and the original is one of my fave PS2 games, I was blown away by the graphics and 60fps at the time.

great series. we need the PS2 ones on PS4 like asap. Going commando is my favorite, and I would just avoid Quest for Booty and the spinoffs.

Played through the reboot last year and had a good time, liked the witty banter and some fun level design.

Playing the Vita port of 1 right now and man it is actually better than the reboot imo. Controls and visuals aren't as good obviously, but the levels, difficulty, platforming, and characters are definitely a cut above. Much prefer this version of the origin too. I own all the games so I'll make my way through them all eventually.

Omg! You’re an IG developer? If so, you replying just made my day. I look forward to what’s new in the R&C series!

Going Commando is a top 5 PS2 game. Love this series, super underrated.

GC might be one of my top 10 games, not even just on PS2.

I was hoping they'd remake it like they did with Ratchet+Clank 1, but that remake removed some levels and sections and I'd hate if they did the same thing with GC. But those graphics are sooooooo good!

Tools of Destruction might have been my favorite PS3 game in the series if it hadn't been so glitchy for me (audio in cutscenes were out of sync which ruined the humor, and I had at least one full crash).

I was extremely happy that the new one, years after the series came out did really well both critically and commercially. There has been plenty of entries in their series but still people love the game and many buy it.

It ranks as p, probably, my favourite plafotmer series. It was crash but I grew up more with ratchet and clank. Until the new one came out jack and daxter held that spot.

After the PS4 remake I feel kinda lost with my feelings for the series.
On one hand, I know this wasn't their best effort at a R&C game and so I want them to prove me they can still make a great title like ACiT.
On the other, I kind of wish the series stopped here as I feel the narrative lost its original charm with each new game.

Also, R&C PS4 gave me a case of "60fps withdrawal" despite knowing and respecting Insomniac's decision to go 30fps

I'm glad it's still around. There was some darker times for a while.

I'm glad they are back on track. Into the Nexus and the Remake of Ratchet and Clank were great.

Still annoyed bolts no longer have currency values and are just there for variety sake. I know this is minor, but please fix this Insomniac.

Loved them a bunch when I was younger but the recent remake really didn’t do much to keep me in it. As a kid though man I loved them.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single R&C game.

I didn't even hate the weird CO-OP one they made. It wasn't a traditional R+C game, but it was fairly enjoyable (I'm sure it would have been way better with other people, but single player was managable).

The Tower Defense one I liked the idea of, it just didn't have enough content (had like 2 full levels and a smaller final level). Would have been a good mode in a main game IMO.

Played only 1, Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked, mainly was interested in Jax n Daxter's series a bit more at the time.

My favorite was probably Deadlocked because of the online multiplayer. Man, the amount of combination of weapons and mods you could use was great until everybody found the best combinations.

Sniper rifle + Acid mod = one hit kill if they didn't find a health pack in time, Dual vipers + Freeze mod mad it hard to dodge/run away from, Arbiter + Acid/Napalm was difficult to avoid as well and Hunter mines + Napalm blocked off areas for the Conquest mode.

Also the ability to level up weapons by kills was awesome, that really made you feel powerful when on a kill streak. Made the sniper rifle more powerful into a literal OHKO with or without mods.

1v1s in that game were intense because the meta at the time. So much fun was had when one mastered the sniper rifle both scoped and unscoped.

Up Your Arsenal was the game I didn't get the chance to play the online mode when I got it. 1 was definitely interesting but not as interesting to me cause of no coop or multiplayer modes, good game nonetheless.

Really wished that they continued with mods idea from deadlock imo.

The spin off games can be a bit hit or miss but the main games are all quality games and are definitely PlayStation gems.

Loved the remake on PS4 too, can't wait to see what they do for the next game and how amazing it will look.

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.
All of them are worth playing.

ACiT > 3 > Deadlocked > Rest, though.
I even liked the story for Crack in Time!

Where's the love for Size Matters? That was actually the game I started with and that got me interested in the series so I picked up every main line game after that.

I love this series with a passion. The PS3 games weren't as great as those on the PS2 but were still quality titles.

Haven't played the PS4 remake yet but it looks glorious. Hope it plays well too. It will be a really sad day when we don't get anymore R&C.

It's my favourite series.

I love all the games and I receive great joy playing them. I love the characters, Big Al, the Plumber, Quark and my absolute favourite Duo Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence.

I played Ratchet 3 to death just for Dr Nefarious and when he was teased at the end of Quest for Booty I was bouncing off the walls with joy. I got one of the 10th Anniversary Dr Nefarious posters on my wall.

What I love about the series are all the different types of stuff to do. The arena is always fun, I enjoy the collection missions and getting the reward at the end and a massive bolt collection.

I really want another game. Hell I would take a Remaster of the Future series just to scratch my Ratchet itch.

I love love love the PS2 series but it kind of lost its way with the PS3 games (although CiT was amazing). PS4 remake was pretty bad though. I mean it was a decent game but as a Ratchet game it was balls.

If you have an hour or so to spare there's a great YouTube video on why https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kD_QhYgIA4

My favorite series. I replay all the mainline games every couple years or so. Wish I could get a memory-wipe so I could experience them new again.

Would *love* a PS4 remaster.

Just jumping in to approve of this thread.
The ratchet and clank games aren't not only amazing 3d platformers but they're a perfect example of how 3d platformers don't need to be 3d collect-a-tons.
Too many time do I see people saying they don't like the genre because of the collect-a-ton systems which is only a sub-part of the series. I just wish more devs who want to make these kinda games take a look at these games instead of banjo and Mario and realize they can do so much more.
I just want to be clear that I love some of those games but think the linear 3d platformers have always been better because they can focus on better level challenge based designs.

I wish I could replay UYA for the first time again back when it came out. My middle school self was just mind blown.

Agreed, really love R&C. UYA, ACIT and the reboot being my favorites.

Most of Insomniac is busy with Spider-Man right now but I really hope their next project is R&C related.

The mainline titles are great.

The spin-offs are ok but nowhere near as good.

The first, tod and acit are my favourites

I think the best titles are still the original Ratchet & Clank and its sequel Going Commando. Like others have mentioned, the original was basically an expanded Spyro the Dragon in a sci-fi space setting. The second kept a lot of the strengths of the original and then added in the now series staple RPG elements and expanded focus on the arsenal.

I think UYA is just okay. At the time I definitely didn't particularly care for the even more focus of the shooting/weapons, and it felt like the design of the multiplayer they added into the game seeped into the single player, which I personally didn't care for.

ToD is also just okay. I remember it less than the others. I've played Q4B, but not Into the Nexus. A Crack in Time was definitely the best of that era, but still isn't as close to the first two titles in my eyes.

The Remake was good from a graphical level and refined gameplay perspective, but I still think the original is better overall.

I definitely prefer the era of Insomniac of the late 90's and early 00's.

Ima just gonna lay it down.

UYA > CiT > R&C16 > GC > ToD > R&C > RD

UYA simply is unsurpassed, best cast, best humor, best villain (so best they went on to rehash him in almost every subsequent game) and best arena mode.

As for why most people put Crack in Time over ToD OP, it has one of the best variety of guns across the series, easily the best clank sections, great level designs, and probably the best storyline across the whole series.
