South Park's out. Is the fish minigame handled well? Should it be in the game?

Last post, status quo being not even wanting to change, it has to start with YOU, yes YOU. Expecting others to change is like wishing for world peace.

It's like how you do someone a favour and they then do a favour for someone else and so on, that is the only way to incite change not getting yourselves upset.

Surely there are more important things in your lives, embrace the good, push out the bad, it is not ignorant as you all like to say, it applies to anything, it doesn't need to be as large as you make it but that is entirely up to YOU.

So this "change" you speak of is people should start being okay with the racism they experience?
The level of insanity you've brought to this thread is astounding.

2009 was when it was called out, the same guys have dressed up singing as MJ and co before and not a word was ever mentioned.

It’s an American issue not an Australian one hence why it wasn’t relevant.

Why are you acting like an expert on a topic that you clearly misunderstand at every basic and advanced level?

Throughout this thread you have continually displayed how little you know about this topic, so I don’t think you’re in any kind of position to lecture anyone on what they should and shouldn’t do to change something

Here we go again, PC GAF here to run this into the ground again.

This was their first post in this thread. Take a wild guess why they are posting what they're posting.

i just did it.

I'd take it out. Only reason it exists is for a reason to meet with
Jesus
and they could have done it differently. Plus I hate flappy bird.

The status quo of him continuing to ignore racism because he thinks that victims should just get over it.

Honestly, when you put together all of his posts, I have to wonder if it's just that or if it's the status quo that whites are the ones that are really oppressed and yet we go to bat for blacks instead. I've certainly heard that one before too.

Whichever it is, it's abhorrent.

No, that is far from it, stop with the persecution complex, I was trying to help but clearly you aren’t listening or understanding. Re-read my previous post, the only way to change other people is through good deeds.

Not yelling and screaming about something doesn’t make you ignorant or racist or whatever else you wish to claim.

Get above it.

I can't believe this thread changed from a debate on if this was blackface, to a debate on if blackface is offensive/bad.

I'm quickly learning there is no low a defense force won't stoop to in the name of their favorite console/game/youtuber/artist.

I don't see why it's so difficult for folks to just admit that they like something problematic. I do it all the time with Dead or Alive, Metal Gear Solid, etc.

You can admit that blackface is gross and indefensible, and it doesn't follow that you have to burn your South Park DVD collection.

All of your deeds in this thread have been bad tho

I've also learned that there's a defense force defense force. That are happy to not take sides when debating racism, but swoop in the moment the phrase 'defense force' is uttered.

I don't even think you know what you're talking about anymore. It's just time for you to stop posting, lol. Nobody is buying what you're selling, it stinks.

...? What persecution complex? Who do I believe is persecuting me?

As for good deeds and change, I grew up in a predominantly white area, and around plenty of "ironic racism". As I grew up, I realized that much of the stereotypes my former friends used in their jokes were things they actually genuinely believed, and they weren't ridiculing the racism of the stereotypes as I believed they were, they were just using the jokes to get away with telling them safely before they had an idea of how I would react.

So I don't talk to most of my old friends, and try to be a lot more careful about what I do and say. That's the change that I made to eliminate the bad deeds and increase the good. I would rather not continue to spread those ideas or allow them to be viewed as acceptable.

What good deeds are you advocating, and how do they actually address racism while fitting in with the fact that other people's racism isn't that important:

Surely there are more important things in your lives, embrace the good, push out the bad, it is not ignorant as you all like to say, it applies to anything, it doesn't need to be as large as you make it but that is entirely up to YOU.

Oh god, so if the fish's face was white it'll be okay? How about yellow, red, etc?

I'd like to see people's reaction to Operation Human Shield from the South Park movie...

For context:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQnEBSwdAXw

Yes, if the thing was different, it would be different. You'll find that this is true in many situations.

The specific combination of traits that make up the fish are based on the mammy stereotype. If the fish did not include those things, it is no longer based on the stereotype, and therefore the problem that people are focusing on here would not be there to criticize.

People might still criticize the fact that it's using Kanye West's dead mother to mock him, but the racist component would not be there.

Clearly went way over your head.

There was a thread a few weeks ago where a developer made fun of asian people in the name of 'satire' called 'dirty chinese resteraunt' and people weren't happy'. So if that's the argument you're making it's bullshit :)

Let's not defend this awful racist imagery, please.

However, this is tasteless and stupid and made for the sole purpose of bothering people, so it's the definition of south park. So if you play this game you know what you're going to get into. I mean, Cartman's superhero name is "the coon"...

Btw i like south park but a lot of their messages are really awful or mixed. Still good for a laugh every now and then, but people have all the right to be offended by this shit (or other topics that have been mishandled in the seasons, F-word and that dolphin episode comes to mind).

Yea I don't see how someone can deny the resemblance to blackface there. Also wtf is this lazy and nonsensical "So what it's South Park" argument? Just cause a show is satire and rides the edge doesn't mean it gets a pass for shit like this.

Been a longtime fan of the show, but the increasingly political and less subtle episodes have been a turn off. Was thinking of picking this up as I love the main 4 characters, but will probably be skipping after this. 2017 is unleashing too many other stellar games anyway.

We are talking about a game that bases it's difficulty on the color of your character's skin.

Should ANYONE be surprised?

You do know the difficulty slider thing is a joke about how life is harder while black right? They're saying being born white is like life on easy mode.

That joke is the opposite of racist.

whuuuut....this is such a simpleminded way of painting how human civilisation (we don't even need to limit this to racism) got to the point we're at now. Do you really have no concept of any of the history? Let alone your own specifically??

"I don't see color." is so incredibly offensive. Color is culture. I'm black before I'm anything else, and telling me you don't see color, is telling me you don't see part of what makes me, me. See my color, know that I'm black, act accordingly.

Thinking racism will go away if we stop talking about it, is such a headass thing to say. Spare me.
I like this post. "I don't see colour" is the most shit-eating cop out. If you really believe you don't, you're just blinding yourself to your own prejudice and bias. I'll put my hand up and admit I see colour, and my primary reaction is interested. When I see a person of colour, I'm curious about their background, how their racial identity has shaped their views and experiences in the same way that if I meet a white person with a foreign accent, I'm immediately interested to know more about them. I'm always interested to learn more about people whose outlook, culture and identity is radically different to my own.

But let me peep you to the concept of social cache, the idea that because you have done a good thing it allows you to do a bad thing. There's a podcast called revisionist history that goes more indepth on the subject, I forget what episode it is , but I would just ask you to listen to it anyway its a good podcast.

but my point is, people believe if they do a good thing, they can do a bad thing.
You really know people who think like that?

You really know people who think like that?

In real life, yes personally. Well I voted for obama so this thing is fine, i've had to call out friends for shit. Not for just stuff like this other serious stuff. Hell my abusive father thought like this " well I gave you money that one time so that makes all the abuse null" no, that's not how that works.

Its an out of site out of mind mentality. " I did this , so we can forget everything else" the idea of working at something consistently is hard for people to grasp , especially when dealing with people. Because people want a stopping point, people want a goal, but when the goal is " be less racist and acknowledge it when you see it" is something you have to do for the rest of your life, and something that calls for you to look at yourself and your entertainment. But people don't want to do that, people don't want to acknowledge that maybe whatever they consume, or maybe who they are is a bit more racis/sexist/homophobic than they would like. So why not hide it with doing some good things and expecting people to just take that shit for granted, because actual change is difficult, long acknowledging that you might be wrong about things.

What was offensive about Kyle's dad becoming a dolphin?

From what i've seen, it doesn't seem well-handled, but I don't think it's much more serious than an unfortunate joke that doesn't land. I get the annoyance, I just don't think
it matters so much.

But to the people defending it just because it's South Park... You know, that's not how it works. South Park is good because it tries its more edgy or weird jokes, but sometimes they fail and should bem criticized

I'm playing the first game and at the start of some random encounters one of the lines you hear is "Are they gonna rape us"

Reading this thread from the beginning has been an adventure. Never change Gaming GAF...
bitbydeath had to be some troll

I'm being anal, but I'm not a fan of using the term "trolling" in cases like this. It makes it sound like the person was just tring to get attention, rather than that they actually believe what they're saying or care about what they're trying to defend.

Plus, you know, I recognize them from the last time they were spouting this same crap. Maybe earlier. I think they're just being themselves.

(I have no idea what this 64.91.255.7 is but I'm relying on Google search here.)

As for this Kanye gag, it's the main reason I'm not purchasing the game. Shame, cause outside this tacky humor, its an actual good game.

Well said.

You know what was wrong there.
That episode was atrocious. It's clear Matt and Trey have matured a lot (you can see it with "The Cissy"), but the way they touched trans issues in that dolphin episode is a fucking disgrace.

Perfect post.

And that is definitely blackface. Don't see the point behind designing her like that unless I'm missing a joke connected to this.

And if there isn't a joke, then they should've instead just made her green, or at most brown.

For you.
Not sure if you meant this sarcastic. But boogie really is a great guy. Some of his videos have some great advice in it.

He's a piece of shit, and nothing more than that.

Fucker will go to town if anyone insults a fat person for being fat, but if someone insults a black person for being black? He doesn't give a shit. He's a selfish jackass that only cares about himself.
