A sticky PoliGAF thread in the OT would be better than an outright politics ban, that way users can clearly see the thread and know to talk about politics there, instead of your daily 10th thread about what Trump is up to. A diminished presence of political threads will make the place seem less political while still allowing political discussion. And more members funned into that thread will mean more diverse views, hopefully.

(If it will still matter, as the community page is nothing but a Discord exodus)

Can there be a sticky somewhere on how to self-ban/ permanently delete your own account? Maybe some folks would opt for doing that instead of suiciding in ridiculous ways.

I quickly scanned the user control panel and couldn't find anything about deleting one's own account.

It's called logging out and not coming back? Really don't get the need to ask for a ban. Is it people love the site so much they can't control themselves? Could it be that *gasp* NeoGaf is still an amazing site despite the drama that has taken place?

People are acting like children for no good reason and I feel the posters throwing tantrums will come to regret their actions in due time. If you feel the need to request ban or post some insane stuff, log out for a few weeks and come back later with a clear head.

I'd put US/UK/EU/perhaps even general ideological/metapolitical poligafs, feminism/women general, LGBT+ general, and black/asian/hispanic generals in the OT community, and have a single Trump general in the OT that all lower importance talk about him (like his daily tweets and whatever Kimmel says about him on any given night) goes into. would likely be much more orderly as a result.

I didn't know that. Perhaps I'll check it out, though I still don't like the idea of having to chose which topics you want. There's a lot of things I've discovered on this forum that I'd never even think to look for on my own.

I’ve found political discussion on GAF as meaningful and relevant, especially highlighting problems of economy, militarism and, yes, sexism. I think off-topic was moderated well. I am sad to see hate towards gaf that I am seeing from both right-wingers and some liberal/left activists.

My personal wish is to see Malka removed from association with the site and mod-team reinstate clear proceedings going forward.

I don’t see the activism of shitposting as very positive currently on the site.

NeoGAF is a very valuable site with hundreds of thousands of threads, many with very relevant gaming discussion as well as relevant discussion on other topics.
