So many good members leaving.

It's not good 'members', they are people who feel strongly about something and decide to stand by their feelings.

What will be left are the people who feel someone is innocent until proven guilty, and the rest who just dont give a fuck about anything and want to tell everyone else why they are wrong about something (the majority of GAF probably)

Might be last or at least one the few post I have here but there definitely isn’t something like gaf in terms of getting all the gaming news you need whether it be from bigger to titles or very niche ones. I didn’t spend much time posting in the OTs or community but saw that was where a lot of good people were hanging out, especially in the community threads. Overall gaf for only being here for about a year I’ve enjoyed it.

I’ll probably see most of you guys in discord or one of the new sites.

I'm glad Gaming is here to stay. In the past days I looked for other forums, but they seemed dead. I love the fact that even minor news get own topics in here.

Yeah. I'm gonna go on a hiatus for a day or two until all these account suicides are gone. The last place I thought I had to worry about people posting porn while my family were in the room was GAF. So hopefully they'll be cleared out soon enough.

Honestly? I don't give a damn about this whole situation with EviLore and i don't care who's right, who's wrong or lying, let it be on their conscience. All i care about here is the community and the fact that it is the best online forum on which you can to talk about video games, related news etc. Video games was the one and only reason i came here and registered and i don't care about anything else.

It's not that i couln't live without this forum and i'm sure i can (even though it won't be easy at first) but... the fact of the matter is that i won't find a good enough alternative, plus i do have people here whom i consider to be my friends and for as long as they are here, i'll be here too. So, yeah, here is my two cents.

GAF will live one. Most offshoot forums will die at varying rates. Maybe one or two will survive with a skeleton crew of some of the resigned mods and a few followers.

There really is nowhere on the Internet better than gaf (for better or worse). For catch all news and views nothing comes close. This place would have been a big loss if it were to just disappear, yes replacements would come and go but in the end if we have a foundation for such a great community that’s lasted over a decade, then that’s something you can’t replace. Hopefully over the coming days and weeks, the people who want to leave do so sooner rather than later and be repesctful to the community which they’ve enjoyed and been apart of for their time here. And we can build again and become a great community that many love and many more will come here for.

this place might not be perfect but it's sure as hell a million times better than Reddit/GameFAQs.

If I had to look at gamefaqs, YouTube comments, Reddit, ign or gamespot boards, twitter or Facebook groups, or 4chan, for all gaming related news then I would immediately retreat to a monthly or weekly podcast of some kind where the hosts have to deal with the trolls by ignoring them, and would put up with only getting 5% of the info one gets here.

On the plus side my personal productivity would soar.

I've been on these boards since it had a main news page with a sign that said 'Gaming Age'. When the anniversary of 9/11 happens and someone posts the archived thread from back then, I have a post on the first page, and I was here for years before THAT! So I'm not leaving just yet. It's too engrained in my daily life at this point.

It was for a while but last few months it was only 1 in 10. Anyway it could be mostly solved by having one topic called "stupid crap trump just did".

Avoiding politics in OT is a cop out. Introducing some equal time for "both sides" goes against the stated community standards which involve respect for other people. If someone can't stand seeing an OT section with a topic title saying trump did something horrendous (that they' don't have to click) then that's just reality not a site issue.

People exaggerate all the time, especially on the internet. It's really as simple as that.

Just look at all the headlines of articles or threads on other forums where it said that NeoGAF "closed" down (or even Wikipedia where they used past tense for this website).

I know this might not make to some people, but for me, NeoGAF is bigger than its domain owner.

Over the 12+ years that I've lurked and posted here, it has become my go-to place for gaming news, deals, analysis, impressions and so on. No other site comes close.

Dismissing all of that because of what the owner did is frankly weird. I do not care for Evilore, I do not condone what he did, but his presence on the boards has been miniscule, unnoticable. Using NeoGAF as a SJW weapon against what he did seems idiotic.

same here. i usually browse the site during my break and lunch at work. i can't stay on reddit for too long since i prefer message boards like this one.

Same. I had too much empty time in my life, lol. I needed my gaf fix.

However it's kind of sad to see so many post like "i only care about my games, uh". I can see how it will easily devolve into other gaming forums where talk about inclusivity, diversity and female presence in games is going to be classifed as "political stuff" and the alt-right will take over, but hey, whatever. I'm glad Gaf is back. I care about the community and discussing games with like-minded folk. I did like OT as well, but probably 80% of my time was spent in this part of the forum anyway. Honestly, I've never found another forum anywhere close to Gaf in terms of layout and usability and even just over those few days I felt pretty lost. I may check out other forums like ResetEra as there will be good folk there, but unless they manage to snag an active community in the thousands it'll probably slow down and die out after a while. I've been part of forums which weren't very active in the past, and if it's like a couple of dozen people it feels very empty and pointless at times.

It's true that this forum is about discussing games, but the atmosphere is what's most important in any forum, and that has changed a lot. I haven't been a member here long, but I can definitely feel a shift in the tone on this forum now.

I don't think this forum will ever go back to feeling like it did, but honestly, that's probably for the best, especially if the site owner stays on, considering that the allegations against him really jar with what the forum used to stand for.

I'm really not sure how I feel about the whole situation. It does feel a bit wrong to me to still post here after everything has been revealed, but ultimately a community is more than just the leader... however in this case the leader's image definitely casts a very large, and uncomfortable, shadow. I'll likely wait before forming my complete opinion. It will ultimately be up to how the atmosphere at the new NeoGAF feels after the ash from this situation has settled.

This place was a hive mind and a safe haven for social justice warriors . The site can be credited to ruining a few of my most beloved franchises like mass effect. Karma is a bitch and the site got what it deserves .

I agree man. Its easier to discuss games here than on Reddit or something. I personally think its better off without Politics. It seemed to create huge rifts and did more bad than good. I was mildly active in off topic, 90% gaming anyway.

You can hate this place, but face it, of you want your scoops or find help in Destiny of something there is hardly a better alternative.
